Bond no 9 I either love or hate them. They are loud brash and never subtle. Think of Penhaligon's as a proper English Gentleman, quiet reserved. They have many very nice citrus fragrances that don't project or last longer than a few hours. Now Bn9 is the loud-mouthed foul brash American who yells everything and can be heard miles away. SO... when Bn9 took on citrus, it was a challenge. Citrus doesn't last long usually. Eau de New York is loud and brash, and citrus. the only trouble is that there are too many competing notes. Citrus, oakmoss, cyclamen, soap, musk, floral...but the citrus lasts...If you want a citrus that shouts for hours, go for this. I give it a thumbs up b/c it is one of only 2 or 3 Bonds that I don't hate outright.

Please try this one before buying. It didn't work for me unfortunately. The opening smells like starfruit. Very very fresh and bright. Made an excellent first impression on me. It later transformed into something funky and it didn't work for me at all. I can't even describe what I smelled. In my opinion, for a neroli based fragrance, Tom Ford's Neroli Portifono is better.

One of my personal favorites, not because it's particularly deep, but simply because it makes me smile when I smell it. It basically smells like a freshly mowed lawn mixed with lemon, with neroli underneath giving it a sweet candied feel. It's a soapy smell, and there's a deep sandalwood that doesn't really register until many hours in, but that goes a long way to give Eau de NY that rich, concentrated expensive feeling you only get from highly concentrated scents that put some money into good basenotes. There's also some sort of vetiver in there adding to the grassy smell, but I'd have a hard time describing Eau de NY as a vetiver scent, though it does come off as a much sweeter, much soapier version of Creed's Original Vetiver or Mugler Cologne. A word of advice, though: Skip the accoutrements. They're formulated differently and basically just smell like Irish Spring soap, which is fine enough, but paying $30 for luxury soap that smells like something you could get at the grocery store is a bit maddening.

This scent is very refreshing to me. It doesn't overwelm at all and it lasts forever. Last time I wore it I went to an outdoors sporting event on a very warm day. I felt fresh all day. However, my young daughter said when she sat next to me: " Something smells familiar...it smells like when I go get shots at the doctors' office!" Oh dear.

This smells like a typical eau de cologne yet, is pretty well done. Citrus, florals and herbal vegetal greens. It's smooth, long lasting and does what it aims to do quite well. It's very fresh, herbal while at the same time being bold and unique for a typical Eau De Cologne type of scent. This stuff lasts for a long time and projects quite well. The sillage trail is absolutely beautiful and this is truly a unisex fragrance. The more you wear this the more you like it as it's completely uplifting. This is very underrated. It's a three way hybrid of a tart lively citrus, an Eau de cologne and herbal bold freshness.

This is the cleanest scent there is. Fresh, citrusy, just showered but not soapy. It puts me in a good mood everytime I wear it. There's only one problem- the only compliment I've gotten -not that I evaluate fragrances on comments- was from a girl at a bank: "mmm... I love the detergent you use. which one is it?". ??? I told her, it's the more expensive one, 220 usd a bottle :( Still, I love it. But it's odd the times I've gotten more compliments have been on a 45 USD musk cologne by Kiehl's or when I used "power" by Kenzo that was given me as a gift and I thought it was repulsive talcum synthetic powder. Go figure!

I acquired a bottle of EAU DE NEW YORK after having sampled a vial about a year ago, and I am happy to have done so. This is another example of a Bond no 9 creation that I only wear in hot weather and don't even really like once it gets cold (same story as CENTRAL PARK for me...). But I love this crisp citrus-floral-vetiver come summertime! I do not find EAU DE NEW YORK soapy, although it really is very clean. Yet it is not a straightforward citrus cologne, as some might surmise from the top notes. I do aver that it bears similarities to other fragrances, including Banana Republic W, which costs about 1/10th the price. However, EAU DE NEW YORK is definitely richer to my nose, and has much better longevity. Upon spritzing this composition on, I immediately experience a rush of citrus-woodiness, but it is much more about petit grain than juicy citrus (grapefruit and mandarin). The basil and verbena contribute a lot here too, and the vetiver is detectable as well. Neroli and lily are also key. All in all, a scrumptious array of notes woven together into a seamless tapestry of scent. I like it a lot and do not consider it overly masculine at all, as one reviewer below suggested. Refreshing!

This scent is a homage to white lily...a stunning and addictive scent heavily infused in a never ending white lily note trail...an absolute masterpiece...you can also sense green notes all around... In my opinion, a great creation by Bond no 9. Very unisex and uplifting with good sillage and great longevity. Would recommend for the 30 plus age group.

Very bottle-worthy. Smells like something I may or may not have smelled before. A strong vibe of industrial/institutional grade laundry detergent, or fabric softener. On top of this 'skeleton', is the 'flesh' of which recalls the likes of GREAT JONES, NUITS DE NOHO, BROOKLYN, and RIVERSIDE DRIVE. This would be a much better candidate to fill the slot of BOND No.9's "flagship" than CHEZ BOND; it just seems to represent the soul of BOND quite well.
In a word: STRANGE. Strangely wearable in all seasons except Summer; it's just too full-bodied and up-front to be anything less than obnoxious/cloying in 90 degree humidity of July/August.
Just like MOST of the stuff BOND chooses to refer to as "UNISEX", this is anything BUT. EAU DE NEW YORK is unflinchingly masculine, and I couldn't imagine a woman wanting to smell this on herself any more than a man would want to smell CHELSEA FLOWERS on himself.

A stunning citrus cologne opening, done very well without abrasiveness, a very wearable fresh-chypre scent soon emerges and I kept sniffing myself where I'd sprayed the fragrance, nodding appreciatively and wanting to find just something stunningly unique in there to tip the balance over from "very nice" to "it's worth this much money". Eau de New York is really lovely and I'd wear it, but perhaps not fall-in-love stunning for this price. If I was wealthy and money was no object, I would have bought a bottle with no questions asked. Perhaps that's the point?

EDITED 2009: I recently received a bottle of this as a gift. My chief gripe was that I couldn't justify paying the price for "nice". Now I don't have to... therefore changed from neutral to thumbs up.
