Eau De Sisley 2 by Sisley, 2009

Of the trio of "eaux" by Sisley, this in my opinion is the standout. Fresh/ lemony-floral/ green fragrance that is enhanced by basil and dries down to a woody-vetiver finish. Not as green as their Eau de Campagne, but wonderful still nonetheless. This can be worn with equal aplomb by women and men. Eau de Sisley 3 has more a darker hue, tinged by rose. It is more feminine IMO. On a similar note, if you have come across Barneys New York's Route du The -- you may know right away that smell quite alike.

Pretty decent yet unpretentious concoction of fizzy citruses joined by fresh and aromatic green notes, some spices and very nice floral patterns. The whole composition is supported by a nicely blanded "woods-and-vetiver" base. Transparent and fresh, probably even a tad dull yet incredibly pleasant if you're into lighter green fragrances. Perfect for spring.

Notes: cardamom, bergamot, basil, water iris, Egyptian jasmine, cyclamen, rose, patchouli, vetiver, cedar and sandalwood. This is a nice scent, more lemony than Hermes Un Jardin sur the Nil but with a very similar woody dry-down. The opening is citrus-lemon with good hints of basil and spice (cardamom). The citrus is reasonably persistant. There is a suggestion of creamy iris, but in general the florals are restrained and not sweet. The drydown is woody (cedar, sandalwood) and of medium intensity. This is a woody take on a classic cologne. Well done, perhaps not striking but very acceptable.

Continuing with their tradition of natural green scents, Sisley's Eau de Sisley 2 is an amazingly refreshing fragrance. It is a perky light green spring floral fragrance that has a natural wet, fresh cut flowers scent. The greenness comes from basil and vetiver mid notes which at first might qualify this scent as a green vetiver fragrance if the florals were less pronounced. This fragrance is all about highlighting the light spring floral notes of lilly, jasmine, rose and cyclamen. This light floral bouquet is kept green with basil / vetiver and is supported by a searing light patchouli drydown that only adds to the stark fresh cut feeling of the greens. The smell of Sisley 2 EDC reminds me of the rush of moist florals when entereing the huge fresh cut flower cooler of my favorite florist - a blast of most lillies and mixed flowers with fresh cut greens. My favorite fresh green floral fragrance.

Eau de Sisley 2 has been more pleasant on my skin than No1; after three hours it settled in similar green & woody notes like No 1 but still more interesting than No 1. Eau de Sisley 2 is even lighter than 1 and that is disappointing if you think of the retail price of 114 for the 100ml.

A spicy note opening followed by some herbs (the blurb on the Sisley website describes the basil as 'impertinent' ---hilarious). There then follows some rather weak jasmine and rose notes and ends up with a woody base. Even with the notes listed the whole fragrance has a sort of airy and insubstantial feel and once again veers to the feminine side.
