Very nice rose fragrance. Nothing absolutely nothing wrong with it. Truly rose. A very good quality that is not expensive. I must spread it lightly because it has good lasting power and sillage. Fresh and with a touch of apple to it. Has the interesting effect that if increases my heart rate (don't ask me why) at lot, and that is the only reason why I do not wear it more often. I think it is classy and clean. I like to wear it when reading my gipsy cards (which I do only for friends and family, never professionaly) because it adds to the vibe I get from the cards. Adding to this review even before it was published: I think this fragrance has changed and not for better, because I have just bought the set of 3 soap bars of the same fragrance and am most disapointed because they simply smell of NOTHING. It is not the same soap and probably they did the same to the edt too. The wonderful fragrance is gone, completely gone. What were people at Yardley's thinking when they mutilated this frangrance? The soap bar is not worth the price I paid (circa 30 usd for 3 bars). I can find nicer soap bars now at any drugstore for less than 1.5 usd. What a shame!

English rose is actually watered down oriental Rose in disguise. Starting off with promising whiff of Turkish delight is goes than through (tested on fabric) a middle stage that resembles beef stock cooling down on a window casing where are also flower pots with geranium. This fragrance is not uninteresting but not a winner since you can get much better and elaborate Al Haramain`s Noora (for about the same price) with triple the lasting power.

This fragrance deserves a much wider audience. I'll second MissMagic's opinion, and say that tested blind you would mistake it for a far more expensive juice. It is a perfect rose, incredibly realistic - you can almost smell the stems and leaves as well as the flowers, and it's beautiful right from the moment you spray until drydown. A generous hint of geranium keeps the scent fresh and interesting. It has a subtle but glorious sillage and lasts for hours. I have been longing for a decent rose frag since moving to a Turkish neighbourhood were women trail a seductive wisp of rose wherever they go. They splash liberally with huge bottles of good but weak eau de cologne to get that effect, and I've never been able to find anything long lasting to match it until now. This is perfect. A gorgeous womanly scent, to be enjoyed by women of all ages. If you harbour any prejudice against this frag for being cheap or appearing old fashioned, discard them now!

Oh niches... Sometimes very overrated & hyped. "Rose Poivree" by The Different Company smells very much like YARDLEY "English Rose". I kid you not! Only Yardley's rose is sharper. Not 100% identical, but yet still "almost like this". A big old-fashioned classic Bulgarian rose. A deep red rose in full bloom. Saprklingly vibrant, & with an fantastic strength, sillage & staying-power. The old-fashioned from the 1800-century. Note: Remeber to use it with a very light hand. A bottle of Yardley's rose will last you ages. YARDLEY "English Rose" is $10-15 for 100ml edt. "Rose Poivree" is $233 for 90ml. Well, the choice is yours to make - which one will you choose! ;)

This is a solidly good, wearable rose fragrance, still available online as of this review. I have received compliments from strangers for this one. I find the longevity quite good-- it lasts most of the day on me. Slightly powdery.

A very dear friend of mine gave me this as a gift about 12 years ago. I agree with castorpollux, it definately smells likelike a fresh morning rose garden- though I can't smell any fruity essence to it. A very clean rose scent, not cloying in the least. Yardley perfumes are classic.

Really nice scent, like a fresh morning rose garden at your gramma's house. Too bad it doesn't last too long. It's very flowery, with a bit of fruity. I only wish that this one came in a longer lasting version. Like the bottle, and the "aura" of it. It's very dreamy.

This scent has been a staple in my collection for a number of years now, one of the best, classical, roses I've ever smelled. But the staying power is not that great in my skin, therefore, I've developed the habit of spraying my bed with it before going to sleep, sweet dreams are made of this!
