Excess is a woody, amber/patchouli that smells gritty/pretty, like sweet sawdust. It is slightly raspy and, while resinous-sweet, feels luxuriously dry. It has the tendency toward flatness that Ive noticed in others from this line (Arsenic, Crushed) but if you look close, it has a narrow range of depth and dimension, like the finest sandpaper. This is amber that doesnt rise up and surround you. It is calm yet compelling up close and has restrained sillage. Hardly excessive, rather lovely.
