I submit here my review about Al Oudh from this brand while waiting (and it's long time i've been doing it) for the upcoming special space on the directory, really sorry. Typical Duchaufour's creation, spicy and incensey in execution with a leathery and animalistic substance, an orangy-rosey touch and traces of final resinous temperament. Orientalistic. The dosage of aoud in here is anyway less impressive and more attenuated than in some creations of Montale, Bond or Nasomatto for instance and is blended in low misure with a concert of elements in the way the scent turns out subtle and complex without a strong and powerful sillage. This one is oriental and mystic in perception even if in my opinion it does't reach the levels of the spiritual Dzongkha. Al Oudh starts very spicy with a strong presence of black-rose pepper, cumin and cinnamon. This prickly dust introduces a leathery base with the animalic traits of civet-castoreum and with the featuring work of neroli and rose. The last are perceivable many hours later the first spray when the dust is in part tamed and the smoothness of the base is playing its role. The base is smoked woods and incense with a touch of creamy myrrh and vanilla. The incense is with neroli and rose the key element because its echo spreads the reflextion since the beginning. The final issue is a refined and aristocratic, dry incense-orange with prickly and creamy nuances, ideal for an insight in the ambiences of bon-ton and culture.

The opening is a quite nice and natural orange blossom. Perhaps a sweet orange blossom since I like bitter blossom better. Too feminine for me to ever wear--clearly out of unisex territory for me. Like I say the opening is a natural blossom but it is mottled by a synthetic tuberose and some other white flowers. Not my thing. I'd try C & S Neroli first.

probably my favorite orange blossom scent. much more natural than TF's Neroli Portofino, not as girly as SL's Fd'O. Beautifully structured and very unisex.

(Please note that L'Artisan re-released this fragrance in 2007. From what I've heard, the 2005 and 2007 aren't that different, but be aware that I'm talking about the 2007 version.)
I am completely in love with this fragrance. I've been searching for the perfect orange-blossom fragrance for summer, and this is it, no contest. It starts out with a sharp, almost acrid green, like a flower that's just about to burst into bloom. But on me the green only lasted a moment, and then the orange blossom was in bloom. It's a lovely dry orange blossom, not overly sweet, and it absolutely doesn't smell like bathroom cleaner or wood polish. In just another couple of moments, the honey and beeswax notes come forward. They complement the orange blossom just beautifully, and overall the fragrance evokes a sunny orange orchard bordered with honeysuckle... except it's not quite as floral-sweet as honeysuckle would be. The dry-down is not as orange-y and the honey dims, too, but it's still just beautiful. I have to reapply it every few hours, and like most L'Artisan fragrances, the sillage is not AT ALL overpowering.
Perhaps the best compliment I can give it is that my boyfriend keeps coming back to sniff me. :)

i got some bergamot and neroli oil from a guy who makes his own oil blends and they smell just like this. So my mind was not blown but I do love this scent. This is what real stuff smells like. Precious and temporary. It doesn't really stick around long enough to be a fragrance unfortunately, more of a 300$ aromatherapy pick me up. ouch. Get a sample for rainy days.

I wish I didn't like it so much. I am trying to figure out how to rob a bank to buy a bottle. Sweet and delicate and almost sensual. Someone else remarked that they couldn't get past the bergamot, I found that the bergamot faded just a little too quickly for me. It may be the most beautiful thing I've ever smelled.

couldnt stop smelling the paper strip at the store
and i'm going to keep the sample vial presciously
since i'm new to the world of fragrance and aware of smells for that matter, I noticed that orange blossom can be found in many different qualites and personalities:
green transparent and slightly earthy: distillat or eau de fleur d'oranger used in pastry,
or heady, heavy, capiteuse and indolic like the absolute I guess... like luten's fleur d'oranger: sensual and feminine
or in this case flying, transparent, airy, delicate: delicate and feminine
like the trees in bloom in spring evening after the rain in a ethereal landscape...am I right?
how beautiful is this!!!
simple construction and linear I agree, but it shows what you can crart with gifted perfumers and the best grade ingredients
simply the best orange flower of its kind i've come across so far
I would say suitable for quite younger women and men who dig orange blossom (the kind of men who would be comfortable wearing gaultier's fleur du male) and who is ready to pay 300$ for a bottle of fragrance

This is a hauntingly beautiful representation of the orange orchard in bloom. Most everything is therethe blossoms, the leaves, the trees themselvesorange totality, with a touch of almond, beeswax, and petit grain. Just as a fragrance like this should be, LArtisans Fleur dOranger is beautifully linearwhy in the world would anyone want movement and change in such a beautiful accord? Dont mess with perfection. The fragrance is wonderfully feminine, its ethereal, and its awesome.
