It opens with a full chorus of juicy citrus fruits; my nose is not knowledgable enough to distinguish the difference between them. It is pleasant, and sour but not TOO sour. It reminds me of the realistic juiciness in the opening notes of Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune, though that is simply a grapefruit singing a scrumptious solo tune. The opening notes are a teenage boys' choir - not quite loud and bassy like the men's choirs, but also not screechy like 8 year old boys. A dry spice come through in the heart, with a slight sweetness in the background. It is dry, and combats the wetness and freshness of the citrus fruits. The citrus isn't like washing liquid, but real and juicy. Later on, the many different citrus notes disappear to leave just one not-too-sour one behind. I like how it quietens down, and becomes a soft cloud of faint woods, soft/dry citrus, and some earthy yummy sweetness that I cannot name (probably musk). I cannot point out the soft, delicate flower in here, but I can sense it somehow. As with all of the PdE fragrances, the blending is so well done by Marc-Antoine Corticchiato that you will find it difficult to truly point out every single note. Finishing the act, an almost-salty spice or dry wood comes through, making this a true chypre. I like this quite a bit, and would say it is the best citrus scent I have ever tested (though I haven't tested many). The notes blend beautifully, and each note rears its head once in a while to remind you that it is still there. Iskander is very airy and light, so you will probably need to use this one with a heavier hand (unless you want it to be a skin scent). This is a very masculine scent (though a woman can pull it off, as the drydown is delightfully soft) and I know I am going to be keeping the rest of this scent for a certain special man to test. Let's hope he likes it... because *I* do. I might buy it before he does, anyway. ;)

This a great refreshing citrus, masculine and it's not in an in your face or oldschool vibe. Parfum d'Empire is becoming one of my favorite houses, and Iskander is a very important factor in that. I really can't get the negative votes.

Everything has been said about the quality of Iskander. Another well made, well- balanced offer from Parfum d'Empire. The more I wear it, the more it reveals it's masculine side - the ironic thing is I offered the bottle to my wife almost two years ago! To me, it's a sunny and sparkling chypre, that will enlighten your winter and refresh your summer! The citrus? I lasts, lasts... lasts and I love it - not beeing a sucker for citrus scents! I detect a mossy twist at the drydown while I still get whiffs of citrusy notes and the musky one backing the whole thing. I can't get the amber, but my nose is not trained enough... I really like that one which have more to say than it seems. To me, a high quality frag to be put in the same vain of some "hesperidés" classics.

Well, it's simple. One of the finest citrus frags I have ever had the pleasure of wearing. So niche, I'd never heard of it--my thanks to a fellow BN'er who I won't name for fear of trespassing on his modesty but to whom I am indebted for turning me on to this gem. Yes, there are hidden gems--even among niche scents :) As other reviwwers have observed, it is perfectly balanced and possesses that rare quality among citrus frags, longevity. Yes it is indeed elegant, and sophisticated, to which one can add: very clean and yet with a surprising musky undertone. It is a brilliant composition. Iskander is not dramatic like Eau d'Orange Verte the 1812 Overture of citrus scents, ( cannons required). Instead, it is delightful-- like Mozart Sonata in--Aw, hell, for crying out loud, already, you get the idea. Sorry to be so effusive, people. But this one rocks! Wear it for formal events if you will, or for any time that the sun is shining, the breeze is soothing and life is good.

Lime. At the start. At the middle and well, at the end. Even the lovely chap at Les Scenteurs scratched his head in surprise when this utterly failed to do anything other than lime on me. It's not even listed in the notes, but this failed to develop from lime into anything else. Bizarre. However if you like lime ( and I am not adverse to it) and want a long lasting citrus, you may want to give it a try as I guess it's odd non-development was a querk of it and my body chemistry rather than the intention of the fragrance itself. However I can only give it a neutral vote because I, personally, can't pay that much money to be ... A lime.

I guess I have a problem with citrusy scents..and Iskander is no exception.. I just find it so common, obvious, uninteresting.. Rather forgettable

I read somewhere that this scent was trying to capture the essence of Greece. Indeed, when I put it on I did get flash backs from the movie 'Mama Mia', with it's I-dare-You-Not-To-Fall-In-Love-With-Me greek scenery. I learned from other reviews that this can be a weak scent, so I used a heavy hand when applying hte tester. i then went out for drive about the bay area.
I was very happy to spend the day with this fragrance. Whenever a breeze would kick up I'd get a sniff of the sensous, luscious notes in this perfume. I know this has an amber/musk base, which can be heavy, but I definitely feel this works on a warmer day wiht a gentle breeze. the citrus doesn't stand out much, to me, but the middle notes are wonderful. Highly recommend sampling this fragrance. Going on 7 hours now and I can still smell it.

Iskander has a lovely lemony-citrus opening which is fresh and crisp. There are green herbal (even a bit minty) notes from the tarragon, yet this is a restrained treatment compared to that in Ortigia's Coral Shell. There is a bit of peppery spice from the coriander, and faint woody-fresh notes from cedar. The citrus notes are commendable, in that they are not only attractive but persistent. The white musk is light, and a good compliment to the other notes. Thankfully, the amber is restrained. There is a very satisfying drydown, a bit salty from the moss.
This is an excellent Mediterranean-style scent, a worthy occupant of the garrigue category. It is a bit like Borsari, but fresher and more subtle. I like it a lot.
(I deleted my previous review and inserted this one. I did a 180 on Iskander, now I love it.)

I enjoy citrus scents very much. This is likable and I bet my 17 yr old son would wear this with style as I dab it on his clothes in his closet and drawers all the while he doesn't know it.

It's not for me personally but it is likable.
