I find the opening very impressive: I dont get so much bergamot as I do pepper and sage. The pepper, cypress, laurel, sage, and bergamot provide a strong, masculine accord that, at first I respond to very positively. The accord is quite classic and elegant with the peppery spices and sage dominating a strong cypress background. But its aromatic ambiance seems to keep growingalmost exponentially. It is really strange that, as much as Im impressed by the opening accord at first, I very quickly grow annoyed with it, and then my scent receptors turn the scent off completely. Returning to the scent after I give my nose a rest, I find a strong, heavy wood dominated by cedar with a quite noticeable element of patchouli and amber. Most of the aromatics are gone, but not forgotten. In the actual full length wearing of Jack Black Silver Mark, it is not nearly so annoying as in testing it. I do think my receptors turn the scent off and on because at times I believe its completely gone, only to smell it again a half hour later. The final wood accord and the longevity are adequate. This is a good dark wood fragrance, but as Connoisseur says, there are better.
