Sweet and smoky yet discreet and elegant. Not a groundbraking release but surely a remarkable fragrance. I'm not very impressed by the opening that maybe smells a bit generic and way too gentle, but the resinous/vetiver/cedar drydown is really pleasant and somehow unique.A slight vintage vibe throughout adds an extra touch to make of Jil Sander Man an interesting composition that is positively distant form the average quality of todays designers fragrances. Good for everydays wear. Nice bottle.

Jil Sander Man, Interesting, little powdery and sweet, but well done constructed, romantic scent, projects well, girls will love it, for sure! Versatile age range, fall and winter, maybe a bit heavy for summer and spring, 2 thumbs up!

Can't disagree -- it's smoky and sweet and a bit safe/generic/for the office -- what lifts JSM above other similar fragrances is a really nice and lengthy drydown.

PS. Has anyone tested the new CDG masculine, 'Wonderwood'?. What a completely deflating experience -- where's their edge gone? They seem to have shelved the 'God Save the Queen' fragrance project, which last I heard was going to be in a teapot shaped bottle, and pushed out this rather safe woody offering which smells like many of their previous ones on this tip. Bleh!

This cologne smells like sweat. Horrible! I sprayed it on a test strip, so I know it wasn't a skin reaction. My mother and sister took a test strip of it too, and they both agree with me that it stinks. It would be a very nice smelling cologne had they left away the sweat.

Exquisite, but as with all Jil Sander frags, the lasting power comes off as a bit short and it would have been if it lasted longer, because the notes are just stunning. Discreet, elegant, clean cut yet with a slight, not overpowering touch of sweetness, quite a few classy leathery and smoky touches too, mingled with a certain showery freshness. This has truly some serious cult classic potential, if they could only make this one more long-lasting. Modern yet timeless at a time, doing this effortlessly and impressing through a very puristic and minimalistic sort of elegance. I never thought I would love any Jill Sander frag, but I was proven wrong, since now I've found something close to pure bliss (of only the strength of the fragrance notes would render me even more blissful...).

Amazing. A bit smokey. Smokey and sweet. Smokey and sweet cedarwood. I could compare this to Ungaro Apparition Homme Intense but Jil Sander Man is in a league of its own. Great!

Very elegant, slightly sweet frangrance. Stays at all stages close to the skin. Which means it is perferct for everyday use. Logevity is medium; it is clearly there for the whole day but for the evening it would need a refreshment.

Don't be fooled by the first sniff (or sniffing the flacon only): The top is very gentle, barely noticeable. The scent develops only on skin - and there over a period of about 2-3 Minutes. Then, the cedar and myrrh sneak in, to make for an extraordinary classy, lovely and slim fragrance. After about half an hour, however, it borders a bit on the synthetic side, maybe a hint of Benzoe, but its really hidden. The drydown, as has been told already, is among the nicest, most enjoyable I've ever encountered. - Its one of this rare scents which somehow manage to make his wearer more confident.

Can be easily worn by woman but I find it more on the masculine side.

Comparing it to others, to my nose, this is a tamed Zino Davidoff, without the sillage and without the vanilla and sweetness on top - just the dry, woody base, with a herbal note and a hint of leather. Ofcourse Zino starts much more aggressive, and never loses the rose-note, but underneath, there is a very similar interpretation of wood. Figure yourself side by side.

Complaints may be, that the scent is a bit to weak. Agreed, it is more of a private fragrance. Just for the joy of the wearer and those, who come quite close. Not a bold statement. A debonair understatement.
