Pros: Aquatic

Cons: Generic

If you're into aquatics then it might be something you wanna check out, otherwise it seems pretty boring to me.

There is this strong watery note and a little bit of florals but besides that pretty unspectacular.

reminds me of jil sander.the bergamot, pepper, nutmeg opening is a definate treasure that remains throughout the longevity of the scent. the anise is light which is a great. the basenotes are somewhat detectable but like i said the opening is to die for. great sexy scent!!

This fragrance opens with a cotton candy citrus note, definitely bergamot in there. It dries down nicely and is brisk and astringent. The longevity on me, and the projection is incredible. All day, into the evening. I think flankers get a bad rap on this board from some, especially the "sport" scents. They may appeal to younger folks, but that isn't a reason to throw them under the bus.

Reminds of Fahrenheit in the opening, but a very stripped down Fahrenheit. After the opening is where everything goes wrong. What your left with is a synthetic type of patchouli scent. I also don't care for the way they implemented the spices. The basil feels out of place and the pepper sticks out like a sore thumb. There's also a sweetness in this that I don't care for in the dry down. Seems like something that was taken from La Nuit, but just feels out of place in this fragrance. Stick with the original L'homme or La Nuit. This flanker isn't worth the purchase.

I just received this as a birthday present. A set, one 3.3 oz bottle and one 1.7 oz bottle of the EDT. That's a lot of Libre, l'hommie! The top note phase is a very sweet, very fresh cottony-candyish kind of thing. Not my favorite kind of fragrance experience. It's kept from being a sugar bomb by the sharper notes of the violet leaf poking through from the mid range. Then the leather from the base begins to peek through, imbuing the whole composition with the stale cigarette smoke vibe that Aeroallergen mentioned. I quite like the smell of cigarette smoke, so it's fine with me. Then the vetiver and patchouli come into play in the drydown and Libre reaches a point where I'm pleased with it. It turns into a sort of light leather floriental I can smell notes of Body Kouros in there...in fact, this is sort of a sweeter version of Body Kouros. Ultimately, it's not something I would've bought for myself, but I will definitely wear it. It's not one of the best things YSL has brought us, but it's certainly not the disaster Opium for Men is. But even Opium for Men has it's fans. This house is like a pizzaria for perfume...even the not so good pizzas are still pretty damn good!

I'm sure to be in the minority on this one, but I think it's the best of the four L'Homme fragrances (counting L'Homme, Gingembre, and La Nuit). It's fresh, spicy, strong enough to be noticed, not too much to be offensive. I didn't like it at first but it grew on me. Now it could very well become an every-day frag!

Just picked up a bottle a few days ago. I really enjoy this one, to me the best of the YSL l'homme line, although that does not seem to be the consensus. Above average longevity and have received several compliments.

I had high hopes for this cologne, but I could not get past the pepper. The opening notes are fresh. It smells like stale cigarette smoke when the pepper kicks in. I do not own this cologne, but I have tried it once before. I own the other YSL l'homme line and highly recommend them.

This is a pleasant, slightly synthetic-fresh smelling scent. It starts with a good crisp note which combines citrus, anise-basil, and peppery spice. This is the best part of the scent. It then develops a somewhat sweet, and "fresh" (synthetic) note. The scent is very cool, like air from a freezer. Gradually this synthetic side abates, and one is left with a light peppery spice sort of scent. Inoffensive, a fairly safe choice.

Having sampled this numerous times before purchase then finding it on sale as a gift pack with the deodorant, aftershave, and lotion, I have added it to my collection. Had it not been such a great sale price, I would not have purchased it. L'homme Libre is quite nice with a sparkling citrus and spice opening that mellows to an intriguing iris and anise heart. I can just barely sense the tobacco and patchouli...a VERY slight note of each. As others have said, longevity is poor- less than 5 hours during which it breaks down and dissipates. I'm not so enamored that I'd say this is a favorite, or even particularly special, but I like it. Definitely try before you buy (NOT worth the premium price point!!!)
