I assume this is supposed to be heliotrope, but to me it pretty much just smells like sweet almonds or marzipan mixed with soap and dusting powder. There are hints of other things going on underneath (I briefly smelled licorice and there was just a touch of green for a little while), but it's all about the powdery soapy almond. Given time, the almond transformed into an interesting toasted hazelnut before dropping away, leaving a little bit of sweet vanilla to play with the ongoing soap smell. While it doesn't do much, L'Eau en Blanc is really soft and inviting, like a hug from a grandmother in a fuzzy cashmere sweater. It's quite similar to Malle's L'Eau de Hiver, though Hiver is a bit more complex with an unusual cumin dirtiness and interesting old school greens, though Blanc feels much more friendly and comfortable to me. All that being said, my favorite of this style of soapy almond heliotrope perfume is Hermes' Eau Claire de Merveilles, which I find a lot more interesting and wearable than either Hiver or Blanc.
