i love Mar Azuls notion about indolic jasmine:) this jasmine smells natural, soft,it is strong yet watered down with some mild flowery note, like yilang? it is smelling "dirty" like some secretion from the body...indolic as people say, that putt me off at start, but then when it warms up you get constant whiffs from it (when flowers stay in vase and the water spoils, similar kind of smell but clean! so its enjoyable , thats indolic for me) but not overly raw, as in Tawaf, if you dont like indoles then it wont suit you...

Hmmm - I wish I could give this perfume two reviews, as it shouts heaven and whorehouse in equal measure! I suggest that when it is first applied, if you are a sensitive little wuss like me, don't apply it too close to the face, it's likely to punch you with its rubber note, and leave your eyes watering for half an hour before it mellows and develops into a sensual, if unashamedly grimy dance of jasmine, rose and a lot more jasmine, eventually ending in an innocent, almost puritanical "Who, me?" The initial assault on the face is, in my opinion outweighed by the lovely creamy dry down that lasts and lasts. It really does smell like lust in a bottle. It's bold, and probably best for occasional wear for days when you're feeling brave.

Wow! A tangy jasmine -- honeyed and dirty. Very interesting, oddly charismatic. A heady scent, tangy-twangy. Intense. A lesson in indolic scents. At times very rubbery, like a warm balloon in the sun. The indoles are as quirky as oudh. Weirdly interesting. Not at all my style, but it is certainly intriguing.

Ever since Luca Turin made indoles popular, revealing the chemical connection between jasmine and human decay, indolic became the new dirty and no review of a jasmine fragrance goes without it being classified as 'indolic' or 'non-indolic'. The whole idea of flowers being connected to flesh is somehow strangely fascinating even when the nose disapproves; it's like a surreal, symbolic fantasy has been scientifically proven to exist in the real world. I personally never managed to feel this analogy with my nose, or how jasmine connects to sexiness more than other notes. Anyway, the point with Lust is that you start to appreciate its lustfulness once you realize what a myriad of non-lustful jasmine scents there is - starting with jasmine green tea, probably most people's first introduction to this flower, and ending up with the surprisingly clean and polite Jasmine et Cigarettes. Jasmine in Lust is heady like tuberose transposed in a different key and that's for me the more understandable clue to lust: its drug-like effect. Losing your rational self, losing control over yourself. Of course this fragrance also shares the soapy, rubbery, 'natural cosmetics' smell which is so typical for each and every product in a Lush store. But then again, you don't have to actually wear it. Get it just for the sake of this rarely seen face of jasmine.

This is a very strong, indolic jasmine. l loved it at first & bought it on the spot, but on subsequent wearings l've found it overpowering, & l get the "magic marker" note that Suga mentions. Try before you buy & apply lightly!

I have always loved Lush's Flying Fox wash, and Lust is the perfume interpretation of it. I love that funny rubbery quality I get from some white florals (like Songes) and this has it in spades. It is not shy, and if you really like an indolic jasmine I recommend getting a sample. The ylang adds a honeyed quality that is quite nice.

Ylang-ylang and a whopping indole note, a bit of jasmine, and not too much else. Very linear and rather synthetic, a little too sweet, and not particularly dirty unless you find indole dirty ( to me indole overdoses like these smell more akin to magic markers than dirty animalic notes like civet, but it's not unpleasant ).

I'd suggest trying Serge Lutens A La Nuit and Estee Lauder's Amber Ylang-Ylang before settling on this, but it's not bad... it's just not good, either.
