Over multiple wearings, I really kept going back and forth on this fragrance. There are aspects that I appreciate, but in the end, it had to get a neutral. Neroli is never a sickly sweet and syrupy fragrance. It is bitter edged, even with a cool, green aspect that reminds me of flower shop flowers. The drydown is also not sweet, but rather a bitter woodiness, with the vanilla being similar to AG's own Vanile Exquisite. All of those aspects, I appreciated. But the fragrance drifts off and losses it's focus mid way through. It is very soft, although I do get about 6 hours longevity from it. But for the lack of focus, it is not one that I could recommend. I still like C&S neroli.

I shouldn't be comparing this fragrance to other neroli based scents, however only seconds before trying this fragrance I had tested Le Lebo's Neroli 36. Had I not smelt a much sweeter and more feminine Neroli 36, Annick Goutal's Neroli may have been delicate to my nose too. The orange note is certainly obvious in this fragrance. It's not overly citrusy, more pulpy and juicy with a dash of herbs. It does have a masculine quality to it, however I wouldn't go so far to say that it's unpleasant. The scent tends to be very light and airy at times with a touch of greeness and a likable bitterness. Unfortunately the lasting power is extremely poor, I could barely smell it after an hour on my skin. Neroli evokes a strong sense of Summer in my mind. Lots of sunshine, cool drinks and warm breezes. It's pretty, but like I said, disappointing in the longevity department. I wanted to see how it would develop further. Vanilla does play a part in this fragrance's drydown, giving Neroli a somewhat sweet aspect that still manages to smell very natural. What I do admire about this fragrance is its ability to smell like a blossom picked fresh from a garden. This is an all-natural interpretation of a beautiful orange blossom.

Annick Goutals Néroli is an unusual neroli because of its extreme lightness and clarity: It is not a pure neroli but a refined, bouquet that includes other flowers and a definite green note that is most apparent immediately upon application. The opening has a somewhat strong presence at first but soon dissolves into a quite subtle and clear neroli / floral / green accord. The neroli dominates, of course, and is presented with more delicacy than I have experienced in most other neroli fragrances. Since its an Annick Goutal fragrance, its lack of longevity is a given, but this one carries that unlucky aspect to an extreme: It is very, very short lasting: A lovely feminine fragrance that could use much better longevity. Long lasting skinscent. Could very well be from the Penhaligon's line. Reminds me of their same feel and texture of refined British class. Beautifully linear orange blossoms/neroli. A pleasing "pick-me-up" fragrance not to be worn for others but for yourself.

I'm surprised that others found this to be a short-lived fragrance. Really? I tried 4 AGs on my arms, and found the Neroli to be the longest lasting, by far. But it's a close smell, very strong at close range, not wafting around you.

Also surprised it's listed as a unisex scent here. I would think it'd be too sweet for most men. It's not terribly sweet for a women's scent, though.

This smells to me almost exactly like some neroli extract oil I had, from Bath and Body Works. But more complex, and long lasting. 95% neroli, but other stuff going on. Doesn't change a whole lot after opening, consistently smells like neroli.

It has nothing to do with amber, but it's warm and comfortingin the same way, to me.

The real scent of bitter orange blossom - Exhilarating, quite intoxicating ; maybe too feminine, I don't know. I believed that 'Zagara' by S.M.Novella would be like this one, in a lighter way, very neroli ; but it's not. This one is one of the best Neroli I have sent.

I love this scent! I have a special affection for the bitter leaves and the orange blossoms, and both elements are present here. To make it last longer, I spray it on clothing. I find the scent very uplifting and feminine. I believe the bottle I have is from last year; I intend to purchase one from 2007 to compare. Other Goutals I enjoy: Le Jasmin, Mandragore, Eau de Fier

Neroli isn't offensive, but it just isn't one that really clicks for me. It smells cool almost like walking into a flower cooler. The lasting power is nil & there is no tenacity to be had. I can smell that this is complex, but it just doesn't do it for me.
