Nuda by Nasomatto, 2010

this one reminds me of those old classics from the 20's with a modern tangy twist and maybe slightly less powdery. Woe is me, I have to save for an eternity to buy this one....but buy it I shall. Until then, the sample will have to suffice.

The little too-chic square bottles float in a circle rotating slowly like hostesses in a southeast asian pleasure bar. One of them, the pink one with the downcast eyes, is Nuda. Is she your choice? If she is mark yourself lucky. She will please you. This beautiful little thing recalls women's perfumes of the not so distant past. There is that Mitsouko-like peanut oil note here. The jasmine is brooding, lovely and set off by an equally lovely musk note. Elegant. Understated. Enchanting. Extremely sexy. Feminine. Stays true and like any good dream goes on forever. April 2012 I was retesting Nuda today and I felt compelled to again state how extraordinary I think it is. The opening though brief is a kind of heaven. The fragrance is so focused. I was thinking also that Nasomatto certainly got the color of the bottle cap and liquid right. There is definately a mom's makeup vibe to Nuda.

l get a deep, indolic & liquer-like jasmine, with a touch of the "magic marker" note that is sometimes present in a strong jasmine fragrance. To me this is quite a dark, "evening strength" jasmine. Over the first couple of hours it softens, & undertones of musk & amber begin to appear. lt stays quite linear after this, settling close to the skin, & fading out after around five hours. l don't know where the notes list given here came from, as to my knowledge Nasomatto are very cagey about providing notes lists, but l did not get any kind of mint, pepper, leather or sandalwood from this fragrance. lris may be in there as a supporting note, but otherwise this comes off as pretty much a straight-up, no-frills jasmine soliflore. lf that's what you're looking for, l would say this is a must-try.
