I just received a tiny half-full sample bottle of Occur, probably something an Avon lady used as a demonstrator in the early 1970s. What a great, gutsy fragrance! I adore all chypres, and I'm going to find some more of this as soon as I can. Occur strikes me as a perfect, classic vintage chypre: woody, smoky, resinous, sharp, animalic, not too floral. Just beautiful. Too bad it's been discontinued, but ... it would have had to be reformulated anyway.

I'm giving this a thumbs up because my Mum was an Avon Lady back in the mid-1960's and this was 'her' Avon perfume. I remember that time fondly as I loved trying all the sample products she had in her blue zipped Avon Lady case and we'd all choose presents from the catalogue. One Christmas I got the Pretty Peach soap (peach-shaped of course) and talc which had a peach-shaped top. Avon were brilliant at packaging in those days.

I used to love this! Wore it a lot in college. For some reason, it always reminded me of the lovely woody/rosiny/old-leathery scent of an open fiddle case, plus a bit of church incense and fresh cedar. Christmas Eve midnight mass, in otherwords. Evocative and a little mysterious. I might still wear this if I had some.

In my second year of middle school, we'd moved in the middle of the year. One of my new class mates gave me about 100 Avon perfume samples. It lasted till the end of that school year. she asked the one I liked best. When I told her Occur she surprised me with a bottle. I loved it!I'd wanted it for years, but Mom wouldn't give in at the time do to her being sensetive to perfume. It had a fresh clean smell, and it sure lasted a long time. I'm sorry Avon did away with it along with many of the old ones. I still love Avon though! G. Raquel Vega Avon representative www.youravon.com/graquelvega1

Fab, this scent brings back memories of my teen years at the disco. My friend once wore a lovelly babydoll dress and threw avon Occur talc all over herself and squirted Occur on her neck. Nowdays you would say thats too much ,but back then it was so fab to do this. Occur was so soulfull.

I just bought a bottle at a thrift shop that had a thick layer of congealed perfume in the bottom-- "Occur" It certainly did not ring a bell, and my wife had no clue either. The scent smelled like a beautiful strong oriental leather type of scent. We could really smell the carnation too- I am surprised that Avon made this, and the bottle is very Un-Avon like-very nice elegant bottle.
