The line 'every woman wears it her way' is really true with this! I was looking around one day, when a sales assistant told me to try this. From first spray, I was in love. I've never smelled anything like this! In general, I'm not a fan of woody scents as they make me feel like I'm walking through a damp forest, but this is just beautiful. On me, it sits for a long time, is warm and sweet, and definitely will make you feel incredibly sophisticated. Perfect on cool days when it's slightly breezy, an incredibly feminine fragrance for something so woody!

When I initially read the description of this perfume a few years ago, it described the type of perfume that I like so I made a point to 'try before I buy' which I don't always do. At that point I wasn't impressed with the scent; the musk seemed waaay to heavy on me, almost like a perspiration type of scent (although I notice from the notes that the ingredients do not contain musk). I decided to give it another try whilst browsing through duty free on my way home from my holidays and I decided I liked (not loved) it. My husband gave it a sniff and decided he liked it so I bought the set containing an evening clutch bag and a shimmer scented powder. Its a very womanly scent, musky (to me) and wears very close to the skin. Grown up and womanly just like one of my favourites 'Ange ou Demon'.

This is a pretty nice fragrance. I'm mainly just smelling the honey and citrus on me (maybe the flowers a little bit, but not too much.) It seems like a nice, pretty fragrance that might be appropriate to wear to work or to a job interview. However, I'm only applying a small sample with a dauber, I haven't tried spraying this fragrance on. It might possibly be a bit too heavy to wear to the office, depending on your body chemistry. It smells nice, but I don't know if it's special enough that I would buy it. I think I prefer Youth Dew.

I purchased this fragrance about a year ago to have a rotation perfume. I have now purchased Noir and my second bottle of this fragrance. It is now my signature scent. Every time I wear it I get compliments. The drydown is delightful and works with my chemistry very well. I used to think that Estee Lauder was for old people as my mother used to wear Youth Dew, but I am now a fan getting ready to purchase my third bottle.

I have a dear friend that adores this scent, so I urged myself to try Sensuous to see what all the fuss was about. Well, Sensuous is certainly a pleasant and soft scent, however I can't say that it struck me as very original or outstanding. When I first applied this fragrance, I was turned off by its strong opening which was rather headache-inducing. I waited quite impatiently for this initial blast to soften into a powdery and spicy scent, which was nice but not something I was overly keen on. To be completely honest, the only aspect of this fragrance which I found truly 'sensuous' was the drydown in my opinion, which was woodsy with touches of vanilla, spice and warmth. I couldn't sense the sweet honey note, which I'm rather quite glad about, because I don't believe it would have embodied this scent well. This fragrance may not appeal to my tastes, however I can see why people love it. It's cozy and soothing, something I could imagine someone wearing with a cashmere wool sweater and sipping a mug of hot chocolate while reading a dusty old book. As you can tell by my description, Sensuous is not a loud, sexy or outrageous fragrance, it's just a simple scent with a quiet yet charming presence.

Starts off very sexy with warm woods and Honey Delecate petals of magnolia blooms with a seductivly sweet scent and it's stately elegance then dries with lily with a tingere of spiciness Jasmine floats shyly giving a greenish herbalness which is suble, Then turns synthtic giving an impression of Sugar got stuck in some plastic but it's bearable and in fact what makes it for what it is, Amber is pronuanced in sensuous and gives off a sweetness which it can be Cloying at times I can detect Cinnamon dry and semi-sweet when mixed with the note of pepper conjours a delectable and sensual aroma The drydown is my favorite Sandalwood adds a inner fire to a icy and refined flagon, Sensuous has a Luminosity an innerglow that is comfident without aggression Sexy but not smut it gives suble hints no tacky bright colors or designs just simple and elegant.

Sharp opening of ORANGE GROVES: like finally crossing the state line into Florida. Even if you are the sleeping passenger in the car, you know you've finally arrived: oranges and wood. Totally agree with Morgaine: Creamy orange. Yes, there's honey, and that's probably what keeps me interested (one of my fave notes.) To me there is also a ???Meaty??? top note. I think honey is more like a mid note here and the amber is more of a base, however.

First of all, the bottle is gorgeous, and it's hard to describe the attachment I have formed to it. Something about the way the little glass ridges feel in my hand--it makes the bottle feel almost oily, but in a good way, like I'm caressing some smooth, well-oiled alien skin. The color is perfect too; it is not pink nor copper nor yellow, but somewhere in between all of them, with a sort of mid-century blocky rose gold cap. Mine stays right on my bedside table, and I find myself admiring its form from time to time. Granted, it's no exotic bottle, but something about this perfume just does it for me.

We first fell in love two summers ago, as I wandered the Bloomingdale's on Sixth Ave. in search of a gift to present some Brazilian hosts I had never met, who were putting us up for my brother's wedding to one of their nieces. Well, we didn't fall in love at Bloomingdales; we had to get to know each other better. But despite my better judgement--I was getting on a plane to Brazil later that day, and usually don't like to wear unfamiliar fragrances in case they should make me ill-- I allowed a shopgirl to spritz me. The scent struck me immediately as unpleasantly sweet, and I became concerned that I had made a major error in judgement. But the perfume on my skin stayed, and it miraculously morphed into something rich and strange, as I flew on that yucky overnight to Brazil. Gone was the initial, cloying sweetness, replaced with something deep and incensy and peppery that simply wouldn't go away, and I loved it. No Loooooved it. I mean, this juice sent up a gorgeous olfactory swan song when I stepped into my shower in Rio, -- a day and a half and a whole continent and a nasty sweaty plane ride followed by airport shenanigans followed by long taxi ride later! Serious sillage. I couldn't wait to get back to the states and buy my very own bottle to have and to hold.

According to the fabulous perfume website Basenotes, the topnotes in the Sensuous formula are Ghost Lily Accord, Magnolia, and Jasmine, the middle notes are Molten Woods and Amber, and the basenotes are Black Pepper, Mandarin Pulp, and Honey. The topnotes must be the culprits for that slightly too-sweet opening, but luckily, they fade back and just sweeten the dark core of this frag ever so subtly. Somedays, maybe when my own PH has taken a turn for the sweet side, I feel like it stays too sweet, but most days, it becomes a sort of enveloping comfort shawl; I feel sexier and more grounded when I can sense Sensuous' blanket of peppery, woody incense surrounding me.

One final note. This perfume smells INCREDIBLE on wool, or around wool. Don't ask me why, but its qualities are enhanced by that wooly smell. I know this because I live in a wet, cold climate that requires wool wearing, well, all the time, practically. And Sensuous comes into its own with wool. It becomes just a little more complex, getting an almost burnt quality, or a almost like a roasting coffee-ness that I absolutely adore.
