Sex Pistols by Etat Libre d'Orange, 2010

Being quite new to the wonderful world of frags, I had no idea who Etat Libre D'Orange were when I picked this up for £4.99 in a branch of The Fragrance Shop in the UK. Having since learned that their juices usually sell for around £50 for 50ml has probably helped to boost my review well into the realms of the positive! That said, I like scents that are a little different and for me, this is good stuff. The leather is present in the drydown once you've got past the not unpleasant but fairly powerful accord of aldehydes, pepper and prunes. Sillage is average to decent and longevity is fair too. For what I paid, an absolute steal! Edit: Having since acquired Dirty English by Juicy Couture I've had to come back in order to revise my review as this stuff smells remarkably similar - perhaps due to the leather note they have in common and the ambroxan/amber musk accord. If anything, Sex Pistols has more sweetness and intensity: imagine Dirty English Intense EDP!

Brilliantly done! Hairspray and sweaty leather jackets in the famous indie clubs of Northern England for a decade over the 70s and 80s. Very strong on the hairspray/aldehydes which takes it's time to leave and is probaly too much for some, for me it make me want to crimp my hair and use a can full of Elnett on it. The patch and leather took my back to cellar bars and clubs where pale thin young men in the skinniest jeans wore eyeliner and were far more beautiful than the girls. Sex Pistols influenced this but this smell of the pretty punks of the early 80s. Purely as a fragrance I'm not sure I could recommend it but for those who have memories of dark club, black skinnies and crispy hair it's a must
