Sienna Musk by Sonoma Scent Studio, 2008

Sonoma Scent Studio SIENNA MUSK is another variation on this house's burnt cedar perfumes. This one is far more woody than musky and smells to me a bit like a campfire. Although I find SIENNA MUSK somewhat more appealing than some of the other SSS woody perfumes, that's actually pretty faint praise...

Oh My Word ,this is gorgeous stuff. Enigmatic ,bright, sniffable, ,sexy .Reaches into the subconcious and pulls out sensuality. Very clean , not very spicey to me- just a little zingy . If you love Silver Musk by Nasomatto - then you may well love this one. Very shiny clean smooth musk scent.

SIENNA MUSK opens warm and spicy, like opening a drawerful of kitchen spices. Think 'powdered masala' with a dry airy quality that recalls dusty plains and sandblown mountains of red earth. 'Sienna' indeed. Taking the edge off the spices with a touch of sweetness are balsamic nutmeg, mandarin and musk, while a gorgeous palette of woods completes the scent-scape.

Unisex in sillage with a skin scent component that women may find a tad masculine, Sienna Musk is yet another proof of Erickson's incredible talent as a perfumer, particularly in the selection of notes which complement each other so flawlessly.

I'm really not much of a musk wearer, but when I do go for a musk Sienna Musk is one of my go-to favorites. It's a bit sharp and spicy, and reminiscent of Nasomatto's Silver Musk in that sense (but not THAT sharp), but there's also a hint of sweetness that balances the sharper notes (ginger?) brilliantly. Both on paper and skin the longevity is tremendous - 12+ hours the last time I wore it. On drydown the woody notes emerge, particularly a lightly sweetened sandalwood.

Excellent choice for those who want a 'cleaner' type musk scent - and at SSS' prices it's a tremendous value.
