Just like Joy, I see that there is a "new" version and an "old version. I probably have the old one. I like the deep amber notes, but am not sure they go well with the top notes, at least on me. For me this is a "going to the theater" fragrance.

I have managed to destroy three lipstick colors, five or six blusher colors, several bath and shower gel fragrances and now my favorite (no longer) perfume. The "new" Sublime is awful and I shall guard jealously the drops I have left in a few bottles of the "old" Sublime. What a bitter disappointment! Why, oh why, did they change it?

I used to wear this a lot, but now that it's been reformulated I will have to find a vintage bottle. Rich, radiant and VERY sexy, Sublime was a masterpiece. It was not of a style that I even thought I liked but I fell in love immediately. It is best for evening, but it's civilized enough for day with judicious application. Every perfume lover should experience the original version at least once.

Sublime possesses a stylish reticence that is a result of Patou's confidence and individuality.

The greatest interest can be found in the heart notes, where some dense but subtle florals are played against each other. This mixture of lightly sweet and bitter elements ensures a phase of humble beauty. My only real complaint is that the base is so uninspired in comparison. The dull copse of lifeless wood is a disappointing end to an otherwise very pleasing experience.

It is perhaps not quite beautiful enough to live up to its name, but I do like this pretty little creation.

Sublime oriental incense :)
Quite easy to pull off, a classy little sophisticated incense chypre!

uhmmm... goddess Hathor your hair must smell like this!

Leave 1000 and Joy to the ladies but all men should try Sublime at least once and be mesmerized. Masterly even by the lofty standard of Patou, beautifully constructed and, yes, Sublime indeed!

I love this -- not only the experience of smelling it, but the sort of stylishness I feel it represents. There is something sweetly lemony about it -- maybe ylang? -- that, along with the somewhat contradictory green note cited by Foetidus, gives sparkle and lift to the ambery sweetness of the base. Florals, citrus, vetiver and vanilla -- a rich Oriental that never feels vampy or swanky or over the top. It seems both alertly feminine and hiply unisex, the kind of perfume I'd feel comfortable wearing everywhere. I do find the opening slightly jarring but within twenty minutes it all comes into perfect focus. My only complaint is that on me the EDP is not sufficiently lasting. I seem to note this problem more often than most people, so maybe the fault is mine and not Sublime's.

I love the sweet, incensey dry-down on this. Too bad the top notes have a touch of something that smells like sharp cat urine on me, ugh. Beautiful after the first 15 minutes or so, with good sillage and persistance.

Sublime is one of my favorite fragrances. It is classified as an oriental, but it has sparkle and brightness that is missing in many products in this category. Sublime is very long lasting, staying with me the entire work day, and still detectable on the skin the next morning. It is marketed as a feminine, but it can be easily worn by a man with a taste for fine fragrances. This one is truly marvelous!
