I love Lorenzo Villoresi and between my partner and me, we own nine bottles. Theseus sounds, from the listed notes, like something I would love, but every time I put some of my sample on my skin, it puts me off. I find it harsh and flowery/soapy.

Theseus is really an unexpected pleasure. It takes a masculine EdT in a new and unexpected direction. It is a harmonious and subtle blend of great complexity. Spices are there, as are woods and a bit of citrus. There is vetiver to be sensed as a backdrop that adds some austerity to the warmth. It is too complex to dissect, but its harmony speaks for itself. I find it sophisticated and masculine, with nothing powdery, soapy, or flowery to dominate. There is really no single word to describe Theseus. It is what it is. The sillage is relatively mild, in keeping with its sophistication. This EdT embraces the wearer. Bravo.

Adjectives to describe Theseus: aromatic, dusky, resinous, herbal, powerful, dry, green. This is a great scent -- it is a fascinating blend of some cool (almost minty) notes with warm herbal notes. It smells great, is well-balanced and very satisfying to wear. Recommended for green lovers. The dry-down brings out some classy spices.

I am actually wearing Theseus as I write and what I am getting now (after 6 hours) is a rather resinous amber still clinging to the top notes. The heart notes seem to have been almost sidestepped. It's actually quite a strange but bewitching accord of resins, musk and citrus notes. I'm not a fan of this House normally, but Theseus is well worth seeking out for it's brilliant and innovative accords.
