This is a gourmand , tobacco-smokey tuberose, with some vanilla sweetness, very opulent , rich, nicely blended , smells yumie, like you want to eat it:-) And opens up with smoked ham flavour mixed with that sweet woody kind of smell, that reminds me of australian sandalwood....... All smells very natural, and ideal for winter time:-) , unisex tuberose scent, because of that smokey character, that does not change, stays the same all the way.

l get a full symphony orchestra of notes in the opening of this one. lt strikes me as a fruity, floral, animalic, leathery incense all at once, & it's hard to pin down anything for a while. Except for the tuberose, which emerges over the first twenty minutes as the fruity notes recede, like a beam of sunlight piercing the thick forest canopy. There's a lot going on around it, but the tuberose is right at the centre of the action, providing the focus. At some point while l'm not looking, the animalic note disappears into the shadows, never to reappear. There's a point where this reminds me of Le Maroc by Tauer; a headshop incense vibe, with tuberose instead of dirty jasmine. The immortelle is so well-blended here that it's only noticeable as an impression of dry grassiness. After two-three hours, the tuberose remains, but the surrounding notes have collapsed into a soft, sweet, powdery pillow of tobacco & labdanum, settling close to the skin, & fading after six hours. l'm not sure l'd wear this one often, as l already have my tuberose loves, & l adore my decant of Le Maroc. But l am impressed with this unusual, complex & easily unisex take on tuberose.

Tubereuse 3 L'Animale The fragrance opened up with a gorgeous aroma of tubereuse. This nice, flowery, not "overflowered" note reminded me of some powder candy sweets I used to love when I was a young boy. In my opinion the powderness of this tubereuse accord is a really great move - it made tubereuse stand out, but not to give you a headache. Later on the fragrance became a little smokier thanks to pipe tobacco that just woke up, and also a new flowery vibe appeared - immortelle (I assume it's this flower). Tubereuse 3 stayed in this form for quite a long time. Using the occasion that today is a really warm and sunny day I decided to go for a 1st bike ride this year. And after I came back, after 1,5 hour the fragrance absolutely transformed. It smelled of a raw, natural wood, and a note that smelled to me like a dried plum. Very characteristic aroma, I wouldn't even think I might like this stage but I really DO, it's magnificent. Under the heavy layer of woody-plum some jasmine hides, but it's hardly noticeable. I rather sense a sun-warmed hay and some drying cut grass accord. I've been already wearing it for 6 hours and the aroma is really intensive, don't even need to pull my wrist up to my nose to sense it. *I will add the total time at the end of the day. UPDATE: After 9 hours the perfume is still there Assuming - Tubereuse 3 Animale is really well crafted eau de parfum of an interesting and unique taste. It projects well, smells fabulous. This fragrance deserves a lot of love.

Histoires De Parfums Tubereuse 3 is mainly a woody take on the main theme. Strong withe flowers, sweet and (sometimes) harsh laying on a solid immortelle / leather / pipe tobacco base which is not very distant from, let's say, 1740. Enveloping, bold but not too overpowering. The animalic element is not remarkably present (and nowhere listed in the pyramid provided by Histoires De Parfums). If it's there, it has to work very subtly... Overall, Tubereuse 3 is well crafted/balanced and could make a terrific option for anyone looking for a masculine take on this flower.

Do I like masculine florals? Generally, no. Tuberose? Too feminine. But, I gotta say, I like this a lot. Very floral at the front, there is a robust quality that keeps if from going too far to the femme side. Perhaps, it is leather, not sure. As this dries down, it develops more and more of a honeyed, hay/tobacco accord that is lovely, almost gourmand and suitable for a man. I find that the tuberose transitions to the hay/tobacco without there ever being a time when they truly compliment each other as a single scent. Its almost like there are two different scents...have I noticed this in HdP fragrances before? Regardless, this is definitely worth trying.

With a name like Animale, I was half-expecting a roar of a beginning. But all I got was a low growl. Not a drop of civet to be found though a little castoreum or labdanum may be responsible for the musky leathery presence that lurks around the edges of a tuberose bouquet a little way past its prime.

As the scent descends into its heart, I catch hints of salty plum-like notes doing a John Varvatos but these feel more like bit players. Even the immortelle seems much more subdued than it does in 1740.

The star player, at least to me, has to be the blond tobacco. Its creamy-smoky richness blends flawlessly with the tuberose to create one intoxicating scent that places Animale alongside the likes of Tabac Aurea, Daim Blond, even Chanel Cuir de Russie.

But unfortunately, nothing remotely animalic.

Notes: tuberose, neroli, kumquat, prune, dry herbs, blond tobacco, immortelle

Animale I cant be sure but the minute I put on Animale, it reminded me of Mitsouko. So much so that I looked up and tried to compare the notes. I am not an expert so I still cant be sure if there is a strong relation or not. I read among others: prune, tabac blond and immortelle in Animale, and peach, jasmine, underbrush and vetiver in Mitsouko; it is all hocus pocus to me, nevertheless Animale is subtler and less citrusy than Mitsouko in a way a lighter version and yet there is no tubéreuse in Mitsouko! The dry down of Animale is woody, smoky, and a bit spicy, and it is much more to my liking than its earlier stages. Overall, I think I like Animale because I like Mitsouko, and maybe, just maybe, could wear this a bit more often than the Guerlain Holy Grail.
