I love tuberose, full stop; call me an addict, so I try everything that promises another hit in perhaps a delicious and surprising guise. But not in this unlikely pairing: tuberose and mushrooms, so bad to my nose I had to scrub it off. From the off it felt like the tuberose was being stamped on, reined in, and you can't do that with the Queen of white flowers. I got it, of course, but didn't like the accompaniment which reminded me of mushrooms in a cream sauce quietly simmering on the stove, next to a bowl of zested oranges, and a few tuberose in a brown vase trying to get a look in nearby. It so affected me I forgot to pay attention to the top notes; violet fleeing and something medicinal I couldn't place because I just did not like what I was smelling. If you want a very unusual take on the lovely flower, you just might love this, but I wanted more sympathy, not discord.
