No lemon pie. No 'Old Spice'. No... Reminded me of a hard candy from Australia called 'Fruit Tingles'--a sherbet-y tingly little lollie, specifically the lemon or lime flavoured ones. Also the lemon-pine vaguely reminds me of Allure PH Édition Blanche, and I can't stand anything from the Allure PH line--there's a harsh chemical aspect to them that hits me right between the eyes, and my brother *bathes* in them, thinking women will automatically know its Chanel, that he smells good to everyone, and that you can never overdo Chanel. I went on an affordability binge (Anucci Man, Royalls Vetiver, Lyme, and Muske, Avon Black Suede, Stetson, TOBS Sandalwood, Musgo Real, Musgo Real No. 1, Zizanie, Moustache, Versus Uomo), and this was the only one I really disliked--I loved most of the others. Guess its just not for me. I didn't pick up any of the other references to this fragrance, and there's something in it that just 'grates'. I'd venture to agree with some who've said it smells 'cheap'.

Complex scent that is all initial blast of green elements and citruses, an arsenal of citruses i mean (in particular lime, lemon, mandarin) which make as counter-party to a very resinous (amber, benzoin, vanilla) woody, musky base, passing through an heart made by nocturnal flowers and plants ( violet, jasmine, rose, orris, palisander, magnolia). Tonka bean and cedar impress their touch to base notes. It's masculine, lemony, fresh and a bit dark with a woody, ambery, musky undertone. Very interesting and unfortunately  discontinued.

Brilliant!

For me it is another Aramis 900 (the top-rated fragrance by my girl). Versus Uomo is identical minus the herbal features as it is more refreshing and bit friuty, also at dry down its bit different may be because of vanila and tonka..

Whatever but it is a nice addition and i am glad i found it even when it is disconnected.

I recall having a bottle of this fun-filled creation in 1995. I also remember adoring the smell which I have seen described accurately as resembling a lemon sherbet candy/fountain or lemon cheesecake…you get the drift. I haven’t smelt it since, but its distinctive and playful smell has remained imprinted on my mind. It made an excellent casual and long lasting fragrance, but on balance was probably a bit too frivolous or “yoof” smelling to use as an office scent in a serious work environment or for anyone over 35 years old. Its lemony-powdery-piney drydown was quite metrosexual in my opinion, and might also have made it a good unisex fragrance. Why on earth this gem of a scent was discontinued is truly baffling, as it could only bring a smile to anyone’s face who whiffed it. UPDATE: Found a bottle of this in Sudan very recently and snapped it up! It's as good as I remember it being

Whaddya protesting about, Johnny?
"Whaddya got?"
"Well, I got Versace Versus. Kinda smootho lemon and pine, kinda Ivy League clean cut, kinda cuddly almost, and definitely understated."
"Yeah, well, I guess I can protest about that. Gimme a sniff. Naw,as a matter of fact, I kinda like it. Though why they've put pictures of cool, mean biker type dudes on the box I just can't figure. What else ya got?"

Very strong for about two hours, but then it really settles down. For that first couple of hours it has a sort of lemon meringue type of quality, though not really edible. Once we get to the stage where it's very light, it reminds me of a very refined version of Old Spice with some cedar and pine. It's pleasant, unique, well balanced, dynamic, and technically sound, but the "volume" difference between the first couple of hours and next several is drastic, so I could see how some people would either think it is too strong or too weak, depending on how many sprays they use and possibly some other factors like skin chemistry.

This opens with good citrus-spice notes. There is a silvery hint of violet leaf. This softens into a pretty cloud of spice, floral notes and more violet leaf. So far the scent is smooth, a bit sweet but pleasant. The spices and violet give a clean, slightly soapy character. The dry-down gets more sweet. The tonka gives a hay/vanilla combination, and the musk adds to the sweetness. I lose interest due to the sweetness, but it wasnt bad up to that point.

Versus -- in spite of having been released in 1991 - is a close cousin of other early 80s / late 70s "green", sharp coniferous brews with complicated floral hearts like Van Cleef and Oscar de la Renta PH. In other words, it espouses an aesthetic a decade earlier than its release date. Given this, is it hard to understand why it tanked? Death to synthpop - in with grunge, raves... and aquatics!

I wore this back in College in the early 90's. I recently decided to do a sensory "time travel" and was able to find a bottle of it on ebay for relatively cheap. I loved it then and love it now. A great scent that is not too overpowering.

A bit dissapointed with this, sounds like you need to have history with it in order to love it. It reminded me of Old Spice original, a lot actually. Much like Gucci Envy...but a lot smoother and more refined. The Gucci weas far too harsh. I really like Old SPice, but it can smell cheap at times. This is a good alternative.
