Zegna Colonia by Ermenegildo Zegna, 2009

Somewhat disappointed with Lie and Andrier, they have an impressive curriculum and this perfume is not their best by any means. The same goes for Zegna, I expected more from that house than what is offered here. It opens very italian indeed, a very orangy note supported by cardamom that is very pleasant, but then the horror of the heart makes its appearance, a clashing iris with violet that is plain and simple disgusting, luckily is it very short lived and then the cedar takes command for the rest of the life of the scent. I like the opening, I like the drydown, but it is the heart that repulses me, and for that I cannot give this perfume a thumbs up. Sillage and Longevity are adequate.

very watery but clean but no stamina. it's like a tiger that has been shot in 3 legs. not much more fight left in it. stays for less than 2 hours. barbershop vibe to it..

Light cedar smell with a few smoky tones due to resins added. The iris does give a little powdery feel. Opens great but then it's gone within few hours. Subtle and close to skin.

I bought the 4.2oz bottle thinking I'd love it. I think I've just been too optimistic with Zegna fragrances. You know, Zegna loves their bergamot, and that's what hits you as soon as you apply it. It's fresh, but comforting--especially with the iris hits. Then it goes woody. If Z Zegna grew up with enough money, but remained the boring, and stupid person he was as a child, this is what he would smell like. Nice enough, but just... boring. Unoffensive.

Zegna Colonia is a well-balanced fragrance of the barber shop genre. Clean and fresh, I have received many complements while wearing this one. Longevity is decent. Fresh Clean and a little woodsy. Not original in it's notes, but it's balance and projection are worth giving this a try.

Lightly citrus, floral with a slight hit of wood. This frag doesn't have the projection I expected. I sprayed a test strip in Sephora and 20 minutes later I could barely smell this. The scent is ok, but nothing to jump up about.

I'm very disappointed in this scent. This nowhere near Essenza di Zegna, which is an excellent scent. Colonia has a brief floral-spice opening. Very quickly, it settles into a very synthetic-smelling, stale and metallic musk scent. Where is the neroli? Where is the green galbanum? Nowhere to be found. I find it quite unattractive. It is certainly not a classic cologne in style. Bah.

Generic, simple and watery. It starts as a citric, slightly flowery, woodsy, lime based scent and slides in to a warmer but still sunny and airy clean juice, casual and easy. A touch of benzoin and spices give a whiff of texture and motion to a stuck woody base. The sillage is pale. A drop in the olfactory ocean.

Everyone is pretty spot on about the just "woody" and "lemon" smell. Although that is what you get from the top notes which seems to scream at you saying, "I'M HERE, PAY ATTENTION!" Because it's not a subtle citrus woody smell but a more outlandish overthetop smell that reminds me of furniture cleaner. This is not something i would ever buy again and it's not that it's horrible but it's just very below average to me. It's actually not that linear and you can pick out the notes throughout it's lifespan. As it dries out, you start to get a scent that is not so much baby powder but more like baby pampers. Then as it goes to the end notes (the best part) it has a pretty nice woody fruity smell. Too bad the sillage isnt great on that part but overall this is something that i probably wouldnt even give someone as a gift. Not sure what direction Zegna were going with this but it's unfortunate being that this is my first Zegna fragrance.

Slightly floral, woodsy lemon cologne. Cool and crisp on first spray and dries into a warming woods. Very straightforward, simple and "safe" scent.
