The biggest surprise is Amaranthine. Thought that would be a big seller.

The biggest surprise is Amaranthine. Thought that would be a big seller.
Maybe what I'm experiencing is some of the notes going AWOL . That very nice cocoa note is now very weak and the green mossy patch is taking over. Was looking forward to buying a bottle tomorrow but...
Got a sample of coze the other day. Didn't like it at first but after some time with it I love the stuff. After about an hour though it appears to have lost its power . Hard to judge though from a...
Thanks all for the contributions. I have a good idea where to start now.
Is white zag oar a green woody neroli or is it more a soft orange blossom style fragrance?
Thank you for the suggestions.
The past 5 years or so , this house has come and gone in various UK perfumeries and at the moment it is absent from these shores.
I know the style divides opinions but I really enjoy the scents.
Tried this before Christmas. I think Tonka is a masterpiece but found this new release to be nothing special.
I bought a bottle of Tauer perfume as a birthday gift for a friend and was embarrassed to find the sprayer wasn't working. No matter how hard she tried the sprayer the bottle would only empty a few...
Who is the perfumer? Is it Pierre Guillaume?
Don't think the line has done well in the UK as they appear to be discounted.
Compared to the cool bottles from the YSL Homme range I think the design is a bit flat. Especially considering they are...
TDC oud for love
Dior Eau Noir
Thanks. Why the good prices? Has it been discontinued?
I have a sample of this I really enjoy . I read on basenotes that Balmain carbone is similar and would like to compare although I'm finding it difficult to find.
If anyone is familiar with them do...
Agree. A great iris and vetiver. Da Bachmakov is on my buy list. Would like to try their room candles also.
Thanks. I might have to buy a back up bottle so I can use it more frequently because it really is stunning. I really need to shower and hit the sack but I'm sitting here being intoxicated with these...
Postie brought me a couple of nice parcels today, a bottle of Ambre 114, which I'm already familiar with after finishing a decant, and my first oud TDC Oud for love. A bit of a risk as I've only...
I think a lot of the scents in this line open a bit strange but come together well after a while. I don't like the opening of Fraiche Badine but after an hour of development it becomes very nice.
Received a sample of this yesterday which I'm trying today and really enjoying.
This sounds nothing like descriptions on basenotes , however.
No skank or dark notes, just geranium, a sharp jasmine...
She also mentioned every time a scent is discontinued a new one will take its place. Hope that means a new one soon.
I was told it was because of poor sales. But then the SA told me one man recently bought 10 large bottles upon hearing of its demise!
I work in sales myself and I would be buzzing if I made a sale...
I think this has been discussed before but I thought I would mention it. I bought a bottle today in Selfridges Dior boutique only to find they had large bottles only. I did manage to buy 125ml in...
Just read the perfumer is Quentin Bisch the perfume student in the BBC documentary. If you caught it you may remember him getting emotional on camera recalling how he felt on being accepted by...
Read an interview with a famous female comedian in a Sunday magazine who mentioned her sig fragrance.
Thought it really sounded interesting and tried it few weeks later.
I don't use it anymore but...
I guess my apprehension is that people around me get a whiff of this strange culinary herbal. I want to project a fresh woody cologne which is my signature if that makes any sense.
Yesterday I almost bought another Dior prive to the three I own.
I love Granville's realistic lemon and sandlewood and the pepper is just right but testing close to the skin I get an over whelming...
My first bottle of Geranium pour Monsieur was sold from a fridge.
I bought another of eBay and it does not have the initial impact of mint the first one had.
It's possible it was not kept properly...
I like the sound of this. Bottle looks great to.
Just have to try and find it in London
Thanks. I like the sound of hinoki.
I'm confused about Aedus.
Is that the l'artisan perfume ?
Tried it and admire it but a little challenging for me.
I think I would prefer something easier.
I've loved this fragrance for many years . The path it takes from dry cedar wood to cypress with a floral popping up like a flower in the snow is genius but I want a change, something with fresher...
I get my hair cut there and my ( female) barber wears patchouli .
Smells great. Unfortunately she sometimes wears Gucci rush.
I remember trying this for the first time after reading Turin's review and buying Dzongkha instead.
It reminded me of vinegar and old books ( perhaps the great library of Timbuktu was an...
My favorite from the whole line.
The different company sens & bois smells very natural to me.
I did fancy the granville for the spring ( great scent) but its mar h in London and its like my native Scotland. I want a warm fragrance!
Thanks. That's the feed back I needed.
Better get a bottle soon as the sales woman told me they're discontinuing the 125ml sizes.
Why I don't know as I normally buy 50ml for a first buy.
I'm venturing beyond my usual woody incense tastes into more exotic scents such as Amber's and I've found two I like.
The first is Histoire de parfums ambre 114 which I love but find a bit strong...
The store was Roullier White and they had a limited line.
No ambre or patch noir. I had to have 1740 though. Great leather note and the immortelle is easier than Eau noir.
I'm visiting a store later to day that stocks this house and would like suggestions as to which scents to try.
I've read the reviews in The Guide but I'm only interested in the masculine lines.
Great work. I bought my DH from the drugstore just around the corner from me and the batch number is 0V02.
I'm guessing Dior were ditching the last of the vintage on pharmacists at a reduced price...
The reformulation of no 88 has lost its gothic darkness and become a bit tame imo.
I would add Querelle to the list . Very dark and some what creepy.
Ambre gris looks like a beautiful bottle.
Paco xs? i always thought creed ov was a clone of this frag. If im right , having owned the creed its more like a green fresh vetiver?

Thanks for your input everyone. Tried Leutens today. Amazing and jogged some memory from somewhere or other. I think it reminded me of free food as a student at a hare krishna temple!!!
I must try ambra. Im taken aback some what by the price to be honest but it hasnt stopped me buying top notch scents in the past. The great thing about perfume , affordable luxury.
Dont you agree designer scents can also be well put together , only the ingredients are cheaper?
I have a lucky scent sample of 114 and think its very special but a bit of a dandy and im not sure if i have the cahoonas to pull it of. I have to try the mona di orio. I did like her vetiver.
Im drawn to to amber especially during the cold spells for some reason but most seem to sweet.
I tried Prada and liked it but its a bit to synthetic for my liking. Almost bought Bois D'Argent but...
Thanks. Montale are hard to come by but dior has the exclusive range in Selfridges so i will try and blag a sample. She is a very sensual person and has expensive taste!
She loved Serge Leutens...
A friend of mine needs cheering up and i know a gift of fragrance would be appreciated. She is a single mum and rarely gets to treat herself.
Now i know from samples i have given her she likes the...
The guy wearing it was working in fashion wear and not perfume to be fair.
True about a different perspective though. Had a sample of Cuir Russe and classed it as just another oriental i couldnt...
Went into London today to buy Dior vetiver . However, i had to ask the sales assistant in Libertys clothes department what he was wearing and was shocked to find it was Frederic Malle vetiver. Im a...
Bought a half used bottle on ebay last week. Cant wear this in public but still glad i got it for the collection. Aguilty private pleasure. How they sell any of this is beyond me but it looks like...
Im curious as well. I just read how he is a great fan of Dior Eau Noir which i have just discovered and like a lot which leads me to believe that the great coutierier must have great taste. The...
This could be a really good one. Perfumer has a long history including the very good Noir de Noir.
Nice way of putting it. If i caught this of a guy i would admire his self confidence in wearing a floral. It certainly isnt a soft pretty floral. Its got that dirty French thing about it.
Thanks Amy. Your image files are not loading by the way.
Thanks for that.
Tried this last night and loved it. I know theres lots of masculine neroli`s out there but dont like any of them.
Tried creeds czech and speake and Penhalligons but none appeal.
The Lutens is a...
Thats what has stopped me from buying a bottle, that sickly note. I think the opening is great, a very good pepper note mixed with geranium but the dry down seems to change from warm and comforting...
Been wanting to try this since its release . Anyone know where its available in London?
I sampled rose d`homme and reminded me of my moms leather purse from childhood.
I agree. The base makes it better than Bang though.
Perhaps thats the problem. Its unfinished. Shame.
I think Lyric and Jubilation are beautiful but wearing rose or fruit is a challenge. Pity i like the frankincense base.
I got a sample of this a while back and was impressed. I like geranium and elemi and prefer woody vetiver base in a scent and this struck a chord. I thought it could be a good cold weather scent....
Agree. Soap is another predominant note. Plus, despite popular opinion i also get vetiver.
Could be Ambergris but i also own Himalaya which lists the same ingredient and dont see any similarity.
The first time i tried this i was shocked at the very real animal note in this. I now own it and find that facet to be the most interesting, but what is it?
In a interview i read , Oliver Creed...
I was referring to niche lines. Frederic Malle, for example big price hike. Commercial lines there is still bargains to be had. Bought Bvlgari Black from a pharmacy for £35 last week.
Timbuktu. Loved it but now i cant wear it. Geranium pour monsieur. First time i tried it i thought it was expensive mouth wash. Now its my favorite.
Pierre Cardin, Aramis,YSL Opium.
I noticed Frederic malle now does a moisturiser for the Geranium pour monsieur scent. Does anyone have any experience with using a similar product that matches their scent. I guess what im asking is...
Thanks for that. Decision made.
Forgive me for saying but going by your location , im not sure you you have experienced cold weather like i get in London.
Ive worked out my favorite scents tend to have incense and woody notes. I also like rosey, geanium scent but have not had much luck with them. Bought Chech and speake no88 and found it reminds me to...
Made up my mind. Must have for me. I love the quality of Amouage but never bought one. Not even Jubilation. But this is perfect for day time wearing and a good fall scent. A quiet aura but very...
Im not a miser. I pay gladly for quality but molecule 01 ? How much did that cost to make.
One of my favorite buys form years back , kyoto still costs me £45.
Thats why i dislike it! Its very 9os clean smell. Dior Homme deserves to be a future classic imo. The intense is even better but i agree its special occasions only.
Sorry for the rubbish title but why is everything going over the £100 mark these days. When i first got into scents i could go down to Libertys and try some new eccentric frag from the likes of comme...
No 150ml in stock in London but the Dior sales assistant confirmed its coming. She wanted to know how i knew. When i asked to buy a bottle she had the stock and tester hidden in a drawer! Still...
Vetiver tonka is amazing scent but to female for my nose. Despite loving Geranium pour Monsieur , vetiver extrodinaire i dont like.
Sel de vetiver is lovely but fades to skin scent after an hour. ...
Few years ago i was given a sample of fat electrician but im dammed if i can find it.
Thanks. Im not far from Harrods who say they stock it. Nice bottle and even nicer price.
I have tried a lot of vetivers but this one is a personal favorite. Quality blend and a smart bottle.
The best bit for me however is the creamy opening reminiscent of a good Sandalwood note ( if...
I dont know what stores stock these but i have seen the Trumpers barber shop. Sound interesting.
No Montale in England unfortunately so cant test.
Just tried the new Penhaligon scents and wasnt blown away. Just as i was about to leave the shop i tried a quick blast of Extract of Limes. Wow, lovely burst of citrus and neroli barbershop smell. I...
sorry, not a clear post. Honour is a grat scent and i might have to get a bottle. Better price than jubilation to which i had planned on buying.
A favorite scent of mine is Sens & Bois by the Different Company. Pepper woods and Elemi. After trying Honour it pales in comparison. Never brought myself to buy Amouage but it looks like im suckered.
Maybe i should give it a few more days.
You have to remember they use a high grade Frankincense as a base and that is expensive.
Might try that. Its a quality scent but im a wimp with vetiver. The frederic Malle one is to much for me but Creeds original vetiver i like. It does smell like expensive soap though.
Thanks. Just used Lucky scent.
Unfortunately the company in question dont do samples unless you buy the full set at 50 euros.
Anyone eve do this? Buy a scent after an impressive opening to find you hate it by the time you get home.
Ive had my eye on The Different Companys De Bachmakov for a while now and decided to buy...
