Potion EDP reminds me of a woodwork shop on the opening.
Have it and wear it. Will also be purchasing Angel Taste of Fragrance.
Absolutely. If you have a sample at your disposal it seems silly not to try it.
I think you may be getting this confused with Noir de Noir, also by Tom Ford. There is nothing feminine about Noir. I can see how some males may be uncomfortable sporting Noir de Noir (which I...
I have every version of this fragrance except the most recent reformulation.
The vintage (2009-2010) does have a more pronounced sillage and longevity, but is very close to the early 2011 batches...
Unless the compliment is from my wife, I don't really care. I wear for me and my own enjoyment; in all honesty, I get a lot of compliments from males and hold these in higher regard.
I tried it over the weekend and it reminded me of another fragrance, but I can't remember what!
Prada Amber PH
Prada Infusion d'Homme
Honestly, I think you're acting like a petulant child who has just had their favourite toy confiscated. Basenotes is an enjoyable online community and a useful resource, but if you can't choose a...
I think someone might be a little bit insecure...
Funnily enough I was having this discussion with a friend today. He picked up my iPad, which I keep in a leather case and remarked at how good it smelt. I hadn't noticed but it was a mixture of...
I'd say not as it's also available in 100ml bottles. As far as I know, this was always the case.
That's a very odd statement. You can't knock something unless you've tried it.
I love it when this question comes up!
Shalimar Parfum Initial (think the outrageous brother of Dior Homme)
Hypnotic Poison (almond butter cookies)
Midnight Poison (should have been the...
Maison Francis Kurkdjian: Oud. Light and transparent.
My point exactly.
That's in poor taste.
I'd still wear it even if it was a woman's fragrance!
Come to think of it Erok, you didn't get a sample of Noir de Noir did you? Also by Tom Ford. I can see how some men might find it too...
Sel Marin without a doubt. The longevity and projection of the Frapin offering just didn't cut it for me.
These two fit the bill. Or Gucci pour Homme I if you can find it.
Didn't care for it at all.
I have Charles Street. As Jack said, it's similar (very similar) to Tuscan Leather. I like, but don't love it (I love TL). HAve worn it a couple of times to work.
Tough one... for now mine are (in no particular order)
Amouage Opus VI
Acqua di Parma Oud
APOM Pour Homme
Tom Ford Tuscan Leather
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
Virgilio and English Fern both made me wretch.
Then you must have been smelling La Nuit de L'Homme
I'd do it properly and get the original Egoiste.
I think it lasts and projects well. I loved what TF did with For Men when they turned that Extreme. I'd be very interested to see what happens with this release scent-wise in an intense version.
Costume National Homme
Costume National Scent Intense
Costume National 21
Jill Sander Man Absolute
The regular Noir is an EDP. I'll be interested to see how they make it 'intense'. Pure Parfum perhaps?
They are referring to the rumoured extreme version.
Thanks man. I strongly recommend jumping on this one. I'm really enjoying it. I was surprised to see Boots listing it so soon; I'm going to start checking their website more often for early...
I have the EDT. Not looking to duplicate that. The EDP is widely available, just not in the UK.
Definitely your imagination.
I'm not sure why this is. It is a fine fragrance in my opinion and one that I am looking forward to wearing. In fact, if I had to pick a signature scent today, it would be either Tom Ford Noir or...
It is. I received my 100ml bottle from Boots via courier this morning. Very nice too.

At the moment (and this changes on a weekly basis!) it's APOM Pour Homme.
Does it really, or have your favourite youtube reviewers convinced you that it reminds you of it? That is a direct quote from several of their mouths and is becoming as cliched as [Burberry London]...
They all sound fantastic. Look forward to trying these! Thank you for the information.
Really? I'm sure mine are made of metal. Magnetic cap and all.
Looking forward to trying this even more now!
I'm not sure, but I bet he'd love that imaginary Gucci pour Homme II Intense sample you've managed to get your hands on.
Which planet are you on?
Of course you did.
Erm... Beyond Love... Love and Tears... Love...
But I agree about the troll.
I'm changing my mind from Mona di Orio to Aoud 1 by Parfumerie Bruckner. Outstanding.
Tried this in store a few days ago. An unremarkable fragrance at best. I can barely smell the original Code when I spray it and this one is no better. Pass.
Egoiste and Pour Monsieur.
Edition Blanche is a nice creamy lemon scent.
I agree but find Marc's videos too long. It takes him too long to start talking about the fragrance. I get the impression that he likes the sound of his own voice too much. It's good that he's now...
You've contradicted yourself there!
I'm looking at:
Tom Ford Noir
I think you would enjoy Chocolate Greedy!
One of my favourites.
I have the silver collar DH and DHI

I already use 10+ sprays. I'm looking for something thicker, richer and more intense.
Thanks for the tip, I'll order a sample!
Only have Absolute, but may have to pick up the original based on the response here!
I own all four and they are all excellent fragrances; I wouldn't want to be without any of them, but if I had to save one, it would be Ambre Narguile (today!)
Very underrated fragrance. Does anyone else get a Reflection Man feel from this?
Malle by a country mile.
I love the presentation of iris in both of these fragrances, controversially, the lipstick/make-up accord that both carry is very pleasing to me.
Although there have been a few threads on iris...
I've recently decided that iris is one of my favourite notes; especially as it is presented in Dior Homme and DHI (the 'lipstick' vibe that people refer to)
Is there something out there that is...
Whilst I can see this being a relatively good idea if you're on a budget, to me, being a collector isn't about using all of the juice in the bottle, it's about having the bottle and being able to use...
No, because you can't handle the workload! I am joking, of course. It was good of you to offer this to the members. I'd be interested to hear what they thought of your recommendations.
+1 Taste of Heaven. My favourite lavender fragrance.
Dior Homme Intense, whether discussing the original L'Instant de Guerlain or the Extreme version.
From timaru's wardrobe:
1. APOM PH
2. Musc Ravageur
3. Reflection Man
4. L'air du Desert Marocain
5. Tie between Frapin 1270 and Dior Homme (Vintage)
Tom Ford Extreme
APOM pour Homme
Mandorla di Sicilia
It all comes down to personal preference. This is one of my favourite fragrances and my appreciation for it began long before the 'hype' did.
I don't think you can say it's a bad fragrance...
Never known A*Men and it's rubber flask to be faked. People are too paranoid about getting fake products. I'm sure you'll be fine.
Just enjoy the fragrance. It's not fake if it's from the official site. I've yet to see the rubber flask etc faked. When will this paranoia end?!
APOM was my SOTD yesterday and I really enjoyed it. I've worn it a few times before but I really 'got it' yesterday. A masterpiece for sure.
I own and wear the following fragrances marketed towards women:
Shalimar: Vanilla and a hint of spice
Shalimar Parum Initial: DHI's outrageous younger brother
Hypnotic Poison: Almond and...
Anything in my wardrobe
To me these are complete polar opposites. I have both and can smell no similarity.
Just get Acqua di Gio. You've pitted three scents against it already. In the nicest possible way, you need to make your own mind up. You're looking for an excuse to buy the Armani so just get it...
You beat me to it, Primrose!
Aoud 1 by Parfumerie Bruckner is exactly what you're looking for. Pineapple, apple, vanilla and oud.
Only have VI, which is excellent but looking to purchase IV soon, so either of those.
Vaniglia del Madagascar
Un Crime Exotique
Tom Ford Noir
Tom Ford Cafe Rose
One of my cars is a Jaguar, but I'm yet to try a fragrance by them. Also interested to hear more about this.
Can you clarify what it is that you're referring to? I'm confused by your post; seems very cryptic.
Deciphered your code! Got it!
No need. All of my rubber Mugler flasks are like this. It's normal, don't worry.
I did it once. Never again. It was a hot summer and the bottle leaked; the fragrance also lost it's potency. In short, by keeping it in there for a few weeks, I wrecked it.
Reflection and Jubilation are both excellent. Longevity and Sillage are also well above average. You can tell that th ingredients here are of the upmost quality. Own and enjoy boh.
Ditto. I think the smaller sprayer on the 40ml is partly to blame as when I sprayed from the 100ml in store, I got better longevity.
Maybe try the Intense version or the Gold edition. Both...
I wouldn't buy it blind based on what you have said. Although it doesn't smell like A*Men or Dark Temptation, it is in the same chocolate/coffee/gourmand realm. Go to your local department store...
All of the Costume National scents in my wardrobe fall into this category. Excellent quality and not over-priced.
Would you like to be any more condescending MonkeyBars? As the OP is considering Prada Amber Intense and Terre d'Hermes, that smell nothing like Envy, I think it perfectly reasonable to suggest...
Absolue Pour le Soir
Try Costume National Homme. Lasts and projects much more than Envy and has a comparable vibe, although it doesn't smell similar.
Current Top 10 (no order)
You just need to keep experimenting with how many sprays work for you. Everyone is different, so there is no definitive answer to this question.
