First impressions are good - its getting a full wearing tomorrow
These two just arrived
(Lyric Man and Blue Aoud)
I am pretty sure that he has been on holiday and I am guessing that he has come back to a fairly large build up of work
He has been in touch with me about a couple of bottles but maybe a bit...
Montale Dark Aoud
This scent puts me in a 'don't mess with me' state of mind and I find that I can lift more when I am on the pissed-off side of the fence
Prices reduced - really keen to clear these out - PM me if interested in anything
Wearing Balafre tonight - does it qualify?
It is very nice indeed
I had my first ever full blown scrubber last week (involved having to have a shower to get rid of it)
I received a sample of Roja Dove Nuwa (thanks again Viffer) - this was my first go with Roja...
Montale Dark Aoud puts me in a 'I am not taking any sh!t' kind of mood
I am a big Montale fan but even I have to accept that the constant churning out of new scents in same way cheapens the overall perception of the house.
To some extent, it almost shows that there...
Declaration d'un Soir Intense
It is classed as a womens fragrance and the bottle looks the same as mine
I personally don't get too worried about male/female in fragrances - if you like it then that's all that counts
I am a master at making consistent losses on nearly everything I buy
Because all men want to smell of Lynx
Mitchum do an unscented deodorant/anti-perspirant in either a spray or a roll on - you can find it in Asda
Guessing the reason you can not find it is because it is in the women's section
This pretty much mirrors my view on these three
Not strange at all - I wear a different one every day and then gym, shower another scent
I am a twice-a-day man
I own Aoud & Pine and to me there is very little Pine in it. There is a big Apple blast at the top (which is quite nice, not too sweet) and then it settles into the more normal Montale type thing....
I have around 15 bottles from Montale and three of them are in my Top 5 Most Worn
I like that they last forever
I like that they project well without going into full on 'beast-mode'
Anyone have Tarts Boudoir from 4160 Tuesdays?
Dark Aoud - only two notes listed, Sandalwood and Oud
This is one of my favourites and is dry as a bone
So, I can blind buy this at a sensible price but have never tried it
Safe blind buy? I am guessing no - but what would you compare it too to give me a bit of a steer
Two of my favourite fragrances are classed as feminine - Portrait of a Lady and Shalimar
For me, I couldn't care less who they are meant to be for, I like them so I wear them
It was the first fragrance that I ever received a compliment about and I can still remember it - 'you always smell nice' was the line that a young lady said to me (I was 16)
It is all relative - if the man is a millionaire then £1500 is neither here nor there.
The only time that it is a problem is if it becomes a financial issue and you still cant stop buying
Looking to move a few lesser loved bottles on. Please PM me if interested - I will throw in the bottle of Lomani and Guilty to the first two people that take something
On the face of it, remik found the last bottle in the uk as I can't find another one anywhere
I am a bad Santa
Thanks Viffer, same to you
I will take them if still available?
Interlude has an ability to smell of smoke
I couldn't stand it at first but now think it is fantastic
On certain days, more than my wife
I just bought a bottle of this for another Basenoter, in fact, I have literally just finished boxing it up for him
Does that mean I am Santa?
I wouldn't get stuck on one house as the variations in styles just within one house can be huge. I would do (and have done) what most are suggesting - sample. I have spent a huge amount of money...
I didn't say it was good or bad, I was stating my understanding of what cacio had said.
In fairness, cacio also says that if they can get away with it then good for them. The point is that a house...
Certain brands can demand premium pricing even if the product is not necessarily a premium product. This is often done by clever marketing.
Many of the posters on this forum look past the...
Ok - I am going to base my answer on a non-seasonal basis as this earthquake could literally happen at any time
Portrait of a Lady or Musc Ravaguer - cant make my mind up. I would...
It has been available in the UK for a while now. I blind bought it and was pretty unimpressed with it - sold it the day after I bought it.
As a flanker it is no better than any of the others that...
What season does this earthquake take place in
Montale Chocolate Greedy smells of Chocolate Muffins
Let me know if you would like one getting over to you - wouldn't be a problem
31143311443114531146The credit card has taken a hammering over the weekend. My intention of trimming down the collection has taken a backwards step
Musc Ravageur - the dry down is so good it justifies the slightly challenging opening
Portrait of a Lady
Wore it to work yesterday and loved every minute of it
Montale have loads of them. If there are non that you like then give it a couple of weeks and they will have released some new ones
Particular favourites of mine are:
Recently on holiday, I gave my 8 year old son a sneaky squirt of Aventus
I wonder if Aventus is the modern day Old Spice?
You can wear anything that you are comfortable in be it designed for men or women - it doesn't bother me in the slightest
A great example is Portrait of a Lady - meant to be for women but I think...
My Uncle used to wear Brut - can clearly remember this as the first 'grown-up' smell
My first was Blue Stratos Sport bought for me by my mum when I was 13
I thought that I had answered this bit of your post
The way that I read it was that IFRA is being portrayed as the body that is banning everything when in reality they are acting as mediators and trying to keep certain things legal. The suggestion is...
If I want the whole world to know what I am wearing then the following from my collection will do the job:
Portrait of a Lady...
Couple of sprays of Grey Vetiver
I blind bought the sample set as suggested above - pleased that I did as some of them are nowhere close to my tastes
For the record, I now own Interlude and JubXXV but still would not recommend...
I have just received all of the scents you mentioned in samples - from testing on paper, Silk Mood is the best but I would have to give them a full wearing to be certain
Simple problem - wash/soak/douse you hand/bag in Interlude Man
Interlude trumps Fate in all areas and has the power to negate any hint of Cumin
Just arrived today - along with the POAL, I am on a big Rose kick at the moment
I was wearing Musc Ravageur last night and can confirm that I got a cuddle from the wife
I blind bought a bottle, quite liked it, didn't love it, sold it
I am already on record as stating LIDG to be my worst ever blind buy - extremely disappointing scent for me
I would sample first
These arrived today - I am a very happy boy
Collector - no
Compulsive buyer - yes
Count me in
Eau des Baux
Would definitely be keen on this
Interlude Man - blow your socks off projection and lasts forever
Not so long ago, I had a moment of clarity myself when I realised that the 100+ bottles that I had were unlikely to ever be used. The reason for this was that I tended to stick to 15 or so bottles...
This just arrived this morning
Portrait of a Lady is fantastic - I have just bought a bottle myself
If it was me, I would spend $100 on samples and then make a choice from there. I am a bit of a sample addict as I like the idea...
Tried all of them and found them to be very good
Problem is that performance of each one was shocking
At the price point theses are sold at there should be significantly better performance on...
Montale Cuir d'Arabie
The opening can melt skin off - get past that and you have leather
Lots of leather
I find the opening of SDV pretty boozy
If it was me, I would let them know - big believer in honesty being the best policy.
You never know, they may let you keep it
Purely based on my own collection I would go with
Can honestly say that this has never happened to me in any way, shape or form??
I come from a town in the North of England that is not one of the nicest places on earth and even with the backdrop...
It is pouring down with rain here today so gone with..
Montale Dark Aoud
Turns out it is Montale Red Aoud
Probably not my absolute favourite but would make my top 5
Potentially one blind buy away from divorce
No problem - I will get them in the post tomorrow
I am going to trim the list down today and add a few others so have a look and see if you would rather have any of the new ones
So the only reason people ask you what you are wearing is so that they can go out and buy it? Pretty paranoid approach.
Ever thought that they may just be asking out of interest, to start a...
Immortelle, Tuberose, Tomato Leaf and 90% of whatever the hell is in Secretions Magnifique
I could do with people's opinion on this - just tried a sample of Geo F Trumper Curzon Cologne and it reminds me very much of Invasion Barbare - I have only tested it on paper and I appreciate that...
I would give Interlude a run
Hated it on the first try, tried it again and now couldn't be without it - comes with the added benefit of nuclear projection with infinite longevity
It can get pretty expensive blind buying niche - I would rather spend £200 on samples than on one bottle that I end up not liking
Houses that enjoy (after lengthy sampling) are:
XXV is great but I find it doesn't last that long which is a shame considering the cost
Out of interest, have you sampled the scents on your short list?
I get samples from all over although when buying in the UK I tend to use Scentsamples - Patrick who runs it seems to be a good guy and the service/samples they offer are very good
Nice of you to say but the reality is that I am an impulsive buyer of samples and bottles and this exercise of clearing the decks is largely down to the need to reduce the grief I get from my wife...
No problem - let me know if you want any more - only reason for suggesting 5 was to stop someone claiming all of them - as the thread has been going a while I am more than happy to send more to those...
There is no way I could wear Interlude for 7 days straight - don't get me wrong, Interlude is in my top 3 scents but I don't think I could stomach it for seven days - the flip side is that you would...
A*Men is missing in action, will replace with the Hayari
Mancera Black to Black - still not in the Directory though?
Exact same thing happened to me with a couple of bottles I bought direct from Montale
The Post Office found the package and re-routed it to me with an exact delivery date - pretty good considering...
No problem - will just have to confirm on the A*Men - cant seem to put my hands on it at the second
Funnily enough, I was thinking about Penhaligons this morning while in the shower (lots of thinking done while in the shower)
I was a fan of Penhaligons, I like English Fern, I own a number of...
Chocolate Greedy smells of chocolate and pretty much nothing else
Literally just tried a sample of TL while sat in my office and I am positive that OW is far better
no problem - will get them to you asap
