I think you'll absolutely love Bois Marocain by Tom Ford. Sure, it's more of a pine, but any cedar lover will be drawn to it. Best fragrance of all time in my opinion.
Compliment from my (male) friend on GIT. Haven't worn it much out and about yet so really hoping for some big comments.
Wore it on the train though and heard a woman inhaling.
I tend to wear a spray of Live Jazz to the upper chest OR Bleu de Chanel deo
Ambre Sultan - Serge Lutens
I've said it many times before but I think Bois Marocain is the most underrated fragrance on BN. In fact, it's the scent that brought me here!
I love GIT, will probably buy another bottle.
Burberry London, Bois des Iles, Noir Epices
I get no similarities in smell. Both have a minty note but they are quite different.
Have to recommend Jaipur Homme and Opium
These. Surprised they haven't been mentioned more. If you're willing to compensate on the lemon and go for another citrus note I would suggest Citrus Paradisi (grapefruit), Azure Lime or CK One...
Don't let the popularity issue stop you from wearing it, you won't smell it on others as often as is suggested. Le Male is a great smelling scent, just spray once to the chest once to the neck and it...
I know what you mean, it's just a matter of applying correctly. A fragrance like A*Men or Joop might become very cloying if applied heavily in the heat, however if only applied lightly it's not as...
Tom Ford Bois Marocain
Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta
Czech &Speake Frankincense and Myrrh
Honourable mentions: GIT, Live Jazz, Rive Gauche, Dior Homme, Tobacco Vanille...
One that I don't feel is given enough recognition here on Basenotes, Bois Marocain. Woody, incensey and deeply evocative of my visits to Morocco. Very sophisticated, and the only scent that has ever...
Live Jazz becomes better and better the hotter it gets.
Cool Water and Green Irish Tweed are great in the heat.
Citrus Paradisi by Czech & Speake is less well known but it is a great refreshing...
My thoughts exactly. The bottle looks quite nice but it's clearly a L'Homme flanker.
YSL in my opinion make the best designer fragrances (along with Guerlain), and it's a shame that they haven't...
Always a shame to see a familiar face leave, drop by soon!
I picked up a 3/4 full 100ml on eBay. Unfortunately it has been discontinued so that's your best bet. There may be some selling it on BN.
I would give Gucci Rush +1, it's a personal favourite of...
Assoluta is great, but I agree with those who are recommending Intensa, it fits more with the outdoorsy description.
Winter - Burberry London
Summer - Live Jazz
I've also been complimented on Pi, Dior Homme, Rive Gauche and Cool Water.
I prefer owning a range, so I buy smaller ones as they are cheaper and I take a while to get through them.
Bought 30ml in Boots for £12!
Dior Homme mainly
I would suggest Live Jazz by YSL, a fresh minty/grapefruity scent that is quite original
Pretty bad and way too overworn in the UK. Boss Bottled is the only fragrance I smell on other people, I'm not even joking.
Dior Homme Intense
Never used to get many compliments on my old frags, but since coming to University and expanding my collection I've had quite a few on Burberry London, Dior Homme, Creed GIT and Musc Ravageur....
I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Gucci Rush.
+1 for Tam Dao, Let me Play the Lion and Kyoto
I just wanted to say how fantastic I think Acqua di Parma's branding is. The bottle design is fantastic, the packaging and adverts look luxurious but it's not overpriced. It's marketing is subtle but...
I think most of them are great, I'm a massive fan.
I love Italian Cypress, Tobacco Vanille, Tuscan Leather, Azure Lime, Noir de Noir, Japon Noir, Amber Absolute, and I think Bois Marocain is a...
Haha yeah it's not viable to fake
Ebay. Also search Google Shopping. They're not hard to find on ebay though.
American Beauty - Rose 31
Inception - The Dreamer
300 - Kouros
Casablanca - L'AdDM
Ah I forgot to do a search
Paul Smith Man has a nice irisy opening but I'm not too keen on the drydown.
I haven't tried SF bt M7 is one of my faves.
I can tell you for certain that it's 'Kour' (like the word 'parkour') 'ros' (like the name 'Ross').
I Am King by P Diddy
Nice! Directed by Tom Ford, no?
It'll be hard for a fragrance-lover. Luckily I'm going somewhere cold.
How about the following?
Allure Homme Sport
Versace Eau Fraiche
2. Le Male
3. La Nuit
5. Burberry Brit
There was a recent thread about the grooming scene in American Psycho, which was interesting. This got me thinking about films and fragrances in general - are there any other films which have...
I consier AdP to be niche
I have an Eau Sauvage from the 80s, and an AdP Colonia from the 90s
Best: Kouros, Tam Dao, Shalimar, Egoiste
Worst: Fat Electrician (good and bad simultaneously), some of the French ones don't even make sense
Might have to get a 30ml bottle for £40
You won't go wrong with Gendarme.
Maybe you could try Versace PH Eau Fraiche as well.
+1 for Allure Homme Sport
Next time, go for 10 sprays of Joop!
When you read a piece of journalism on something that you know about, you often realise that it is poorly-researched, ignorant, and self-righteous.
Not always though; and in case I sound bitter,...
Wild Fig and Cassis by Jo Malone
I used to regret it all the time. I wasn't overly keen on many of the frags I used to own, but now I've improved my collection I can choose more easily.
Thought so ;)
I like Le Male too
For me, Bois Marocain by Tom Ford, but not many people share that opinion!
Runners up: GiT, M7, L'AdDM
+1 Gucci Envy
+1 Burberry London
+1 Cartier Declaration
+1 Body Kouros
If you want to try some slightly more mature-smelling scents, go for Tom Ford's Bois Marocain, YSL M7, Creed BdP.
are the only ones I really like. Encre Noire doesn't work for me, but I might give it another go.
Virgin Island Water
Chanel Platinum Egoiste
I love BN, but sometimes I wish I knew somebody in person who shared this interest with me. I just get teased by my friends a bit instead.
Nobody mentioned M7?
Paco Rabanne PH
I once came across a 13-year-old pregnant girl in a tracksuit who was wearing vintage Bois des Iles.
Some would say Burberry (London).
Paul Smith Men is nice and easy to wear, but it's not that similar to Fahrenheit IMO.
Someone from my year in school got a fair amount of stick for wearing female perfume. (He was a guy obv)
I think it's a good fragrance, but not the best private blend. While I love M7, the oud in Oud Wood doesn't quite have the same appeal to me. I think I should give it another go.
They're predictably listed as bestsellers in my local department stores. A couple of them smell pleasant, but they're all weak and generic. Disappointing sales ploy from a decent house.
+1 for Burberry London
Dior Homme Intense
On my summer holiday (where it was 40+ degrees celcius - 110F) I came across somebody who had sprayed about 20 doses of Joop! on himself. It smelled of burning rubber, and probably projected a few...
Comme des Garcons for H&M
Thanks. Code isn't my cup of tea but Rochas Man is nice. I haven't actually tried L'Homme but I've heard good things. I'm thinking of getting M7.
I have a fair collection of frags, but it seems that I dislike most of them/don't have the confidence to wear them/it's the wrong season for them. The only ones I wear on a regular basis are...
He could have gone for something a little better than Joop!
The only discontinued frag I have is Gucci Rush. Got it on eBay, but it's not TOO hard to find.
I think Gendarme, Rive Gauche PH and Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta would fit the bill.
Acqua di Parma
I don't like Chanel, so probably Dior or YSL. Make that YSL - M7, Rive Gauche, Body Kouros, La Nuit are all good.
BdP gives me 16+ hours and still smells strong.
Also congratulations Le Grand Duc, let me know if you have any trouble accessing them and I might be able to help
I agree, hopefully they'll be similar in quality to Tom Ford's private blends, but who knows? I'm looking forward to trying them, especially the leather oud.
Nice. I have a sample and I think I'm going to cave in too.
Nice, I haven't actually tried any of those. How are they?
Got my first ever on Creed Bois du Portugal last night
Kyoto by Comme des Garcons
1. Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta
2. YSL M7
3. Tom Ford Bois Marocain
4. Creed Green Irish Tweed
5. Dior Homme
6. Creed Bois du Portugal
7. Azzaro Pour Homme
8. Paul Smith Men
Acqua di Parma Colonia (old formulation)
Daytime - Green Irish Tweed
Evening - YSL M7
Bedtime - Gucci Rush for Men
More than $100, but Creed BdP would be good, maybe too mature for someone in their 20s.
Or Colonia Assoluta, GIT (you can get 30ml for 40 quid online), L'Instant de Guerlain Extreme, Eau Sauvage,...
Boid Marocain is very, very underrated on here and is brilliant for winter. Please give it a go. Azure Lime is good for summer but not worth the money.
I've seen people spray half a can of Lynx (Axe) down the front of their underwear.
Once, before going to bed, I covered my arm with one spray of each of my fragrances. All I could smell after a...
