A lovely scent, open with chestnut, dry down to tonka bean. Perfect for festival season
Taken, on the way to Classact!
I need to clear out my sample piles. I'd like to send one person in the world (anywhere except UK and PO boxes) of following samples. (sorry, I can not ship to UK because of Royal...
According to The scent of desire, a book by Rachel Sarah Herz, there is no connection between one's personality and his/her scent preference.
How one may perceive a smell is genetically coded in...
Very different. Cuir de Lancome is light, floral leathery, while Cuir de Russie is rich, deep, fluffy leather coat dusty with powder
Bump, added new items
Mine would be more like
For every 10 samples I tried, I'd acquire 3 full bottles.
It really depends on what is your perception of feminineness.
For grown-up, elegant type of feminineness, I'd say (not in particular order):
Parfums MDCI Enlevement au Serail ...
My top three:
Guerlain Eau de Guerlain (especially the old formula)
Guerlan Vol de Nuit (I find it unisex, not very feminine)
Creed Original Vetiver (I know, a lot of people don't like it,...
@30 Roses: I love your rosy list!
My current favorite roses:
FM Une Rose: a whole rose plant, freshed pulled out of garden
Les Parfums de Rosine Ecume de Rose: fresh rose with salty sea-side air...
Is there a rule that if something already mentioned on this site, then it's not allowed to ask again?
Of course I've read other threads on this site and I've done my research on internet. Found...
I am going to Amsterdam soon next Month. Please recommend niche perfume shops! The more the better!
I have a bottle of The Perfume Workshop Tea Rose(120ml, 80%full). PS me if you want.
Worldwide shipping. Please I prefer someone already a member of basenotes over 6 months or having at least 40...
In my part of world, I haven't encountered a lot men wearing perfumes (deodorant doesn't count). However, a lot of women do wear perfumes, maybe 6 out of 10?
Welcome to my swap thread. I ship worldwide
Available for Swap
Freshly Made Decants:
I can make 5ml decant spray or 1.5ml glass sample vial of following:
Annick Goutal Heure Exquise
Caron Parfum Sacre, a well-bodied spicy oriental rose, very elegant.
Task one: Sort out my samples and decants! I shall category them into two categories: bottled needed, swap/thrown away, and use them up as much as possible.
Task two: after finish task one, maybe a...
Lutens don't answer emails. You need to write to their paris royal address. I did twice in the past, once for myself and another time for my friend. In both times, I got a pack of 4 carded wax...
If you buy MDCI sample set from their website, they will deduct the money when you pay for a full bottle. No time limit! I got my full bottle of Enlevement au Serail after 2 years of getting the...
Bond 9 Chinatown, big white floral with gourmand feel
This is a very hard question....
OK, here is mine list of top 10 that I must have to survive (in alphbatical order):
Chanel No. 19
Guerlain Vol de Nuit
For me, Annick Goutal Quel Amour is the best fruity-floral yet sophisticated and high-quality.
Also MDCI Peche Cardinal as well.
Don't forget the amazing FM Le Parfum de Therese, which is both...
It could be my mother's garden. We had white flowers, especially gardenia and jasmine sambac. There were three dates trees, blossomed in late April and early May.
Or, my uncle's mandarin orchard. I...
I love the whole MDCI line. My favorites are Enlevement au Serail, Un Coeur en Mai and Peche Cardinal.
Yes, Parfums MDCI Peche Cardinal and Goutal Quel Amour!
i love it! Blame my stupid phone!
This Jour d'Hermes is being raved everywhere :-) It makes me very curious. So far, the only JCE scent I absolutely is Osmanthe Yunnan.
Sigh! I have a similar story.
My mother-in-low knows that I am into perfumes. One day when I was visiting, she took out a bottle of vintage No.5 (70s version)... I was speechness and my heart...
Try Sonoma Scent Studio Nastagie, aldehyde floral
B, although I should have been satisfied by A
Ya, chocolate cookie!
Goutal-o-rama must have a special signature base of greeness. My three favorites from Annick Goutal are all not so green as others:
Un Matin d'Orage is fresh, light-hearted gardenia flower after a...
Scent, but not prefume. I normally can recall everything of a particular day if there is a relatively scent associated with it and I smell that scent again.
Vintage Vol de Nuit, no doubt
I tried the wax sample. It's sweet, it's gardenia but doesn't feel the same as another sweet gardenia Isabey Gardenia(one of my favs). Maybe because of the winy notes? Not as powedery as Isabey...
Private Collection Tuberose Gardenia: very realistic gardenia and tuberose
Tom Ford Velvet Gardenia: a very realistic gardenia lingered among earthy and sweet notes
Isabey Gardenia: sweet...
I came back from Paris a few weeks ago. I highly recommend Jovoy on rue de Castiglione, the same street where Jar boutique is. There is also an Annick Goutal shop and Guerlain shop near by.
Have you smelt real life gorse? It smells like coconut, sweet and milky. Gorse plant is very popular here in Ireland. Actually a lot of people don't like it because it's spiky but I love the smell of...
I have following bottles and samples for sales.
Heeley official samples, including following:
Iris de Nuit
Cuir Pleine Fleur
with original box, 2ml seach,...
Unfortunately this shop has been closed down. Another victim of the economic downturn
Chinese banned the using of real musk deer and tiger bones in traditional medicine a decade or two ago.
kccparis, thank you! You are very helpful!
Please forgive me for my silly question: Would most perfumes shops in Paris be open on Sunday? I am going to Paris but the only time for perfume shopping would be a Sunday afternoon.
The official Chinese translation of this one is great - Bai Se Xiang Jian, which means White Fragrant Shoulders (think beautiful young women's bare, slender shoulders)
Ya, sounds machine translation to me, especially the first two.
I do love "The fellowship of Romance", LOL
That's nice. I never get compliments except from my family. I wear scent only for myself
Histoires de Parfums
Not sure about leather, Isabey Gardenia is very smooth and buttery to my nose.
I must say layering is a great idea!
My friend's husband is a perfume hater, who uses only those supermarket deodorants. After many years, my friend is finally sick of those pugent smelling deodorants. She gave me, a perfumista, the...
You have excellent tastes. We share Eau Sauvage, Ivoire and No. 19! You made a good decision of seeking Chamade vintage version. The opening of current version is way to sharp for me.
Sorry I have...
I second (thrid? fourth?) to house of Bvlgari. Also you could consider Cristalle Eau Verte and EL Pure White Linen, both are new scents that are femine and inoffensive
Thank you, w3pearl. I'll add it to my to-test list, as I like nice florals in general.
First Idylle, then Eau Demoiselle, good at least not synthetic fruity florals
Just read a review on 1000fragrances. He is rather disappointed. Has anyone else tried yet?
FM Une Rose
Each about 3-5 days
I had a dream last night - was buying perfume in a shop. The girl at the counter started to mix, yes mix, a bottle for me. I was watching her putting different ingredients into big bottle and it...
OJ Ta'if for today
He is cruelly funny! I prefer shorts ones, such as:
Paris Hilton Can Can: Can it?
Light Comes Within: Battery not included
And many others....
Blood-orange: Thanks for sharing the review. I've noticed this one for awhile, since I love the opera very much. I'll put it on my to-test list...
I'd say myself mostly a floral, occasionally a chypre gal
Hi Eva, have you tried Kai? How different is this one from Kai? I am a gardenia fan too.
Ya, I bought one today. It's very good. For UK and Ireland customers, you can get from the Perfume Shop. The price is quite reasonable.
I have the EDP, bought a few years back. It lasts forever, even after a shower!
I confess I am selfish and I wear only for myself, but I make sure I don't disturb others.
As a consumer, stuff initially intended for different market doesn't sound so "dangerious" for me, should they still be real, shouldn't they?
 how smart! I must copy your answer next time when I am asked.
I had an interesting conversation with a SA sometime ago. I was testing Chinatown when she asked me where I heard about it. I...
I love rose as a note or dominant note but rose solifores seem rather...boring to my nose. My favourite ROSE is FM Une Rose. I also enjoy are OJ Ta'if, Diva, Ecume de Rose.
I am not a Amber fan, I tried a view but the only one works on me is Histoires de Parfum Amber 114!!
No one mention Dawn Spencer Hurwitz Cathedral? It smells catholic church to me:laugh:
Idylle, the latest Guerlian, is musky floral, quite modern as well
+1 for Balmain Vent Vert
What does she like? What perfume she normally wears?
From Guerlian, you could try various Aqua Allegoria, also the latest Idylle, maybe my beloved Chamade!
I love Tom Ford Black Orchid Volie de Fleur, hate Black Orchid.
The first 30 minutes of Gardenia Petale by Van Cleef & Arpels is true gardenia, but it turns very vallia-like on my skin after 30 minutes. I like Gardenia Patale and I LOVE Velvet Gardenia
luckyscent is the HOLY place for niche scents lovers! Sadly they are never on SALE
Discontinued?! I just brought a full bottle from a online discounter!
Agree! That's the reason I prefer VdF:smiley:
L'Artisan La Chasse aux Papillons is very springlike to my nose, however, it's quite femine.
I've heard that Ormande Jayne Tiare is very springlike
+1 for my favorite Chanel No.19
I resently had good experience with perfumes2u4u. The juice is real.
Today i am in the mood of Chanel No.19
I can't wear Manoumalia either, I keep getting something meaty out of the big bomb of white florals
+1 for Ormonde Jayne Frangipanie
Kai is very tropical for me
Looking forward to try Amaranthine :-)
Definitly second to Samsara and Tam Dao...For me, Samsara is more wearable and super feminine. Tam Dao is more unisex to my nose
Many thanks to all of you! Will definitly try Matin d'Orage first. Probably will leave out FdL for now.
I usually don't like anything too vegetal, even Annick Goutal Gardenia Passion is too...
Very interesting. I don't mind good aquatics either. Never liked cool water.
I am thinking of testing Annick Goutal's Un Matin d'Orage and L'Artisan Fleur de Liane. They look similar by description. Has anyone tried both? Opinions? I am big gardenia fan but I usually dislike...
I tried a few times. It is lovely (but no subtleness) on paper but synthetic and harsh on me.
And Guerlain Idylle, a paler, floral version of NR for Her
Thank you, good to know :)
YOu said all i wanted to say!:D
FM Une Rose is my reference rose :-)
Thank you lilebele for the link. I just read, it's interesting but I'd like to know more about its history, if possible. Hope our knowledgable basenoters would help me :-)
I can't find any information about EAU ARPEGE, only ARPEGE by Lanvin. It's not in the fragrance directory. What does this EAU ARPEGE smell like? Which year it was introduced/discontinued? Can anyone...
I am trying to keep my wishlist small. Here is what I truely want:
Guerlain Vol de Nuit (vintage)
FM Une Rose
Van Cleef & Arpels Collection Extraordinaire Gardenia Petale
Divine by Divine
I have an observation: people I know who love spicy oriantals either go for Opium or Coco but rarely both. I find it strange.
Normally, white florals turn to be creamy to my nose. Creamy florals I like are:
Divine by Divine
Aqua di Parma Iris Nobile
Marc Jacobs Essence
Osmanthe Yunnan in the Hermessence
I vote for Chanel No.19!
Thanks, everyone. Great suggestions. I'll definitely pass on to her. My friend is not a perfumista (I am, er, in-training:D). She probably never heard of those. I'll find some samples first:D
FM Une Rose, I've been wearing this for 2 weeks :-) I am absolutely in love
