Yves Saint Laurent
1st wearing of this in almost 2 years.
Like I have always said:
If you ever finish a bottle, your collection is too small.
CdG is not a blind-buy type of house, but I would recommend Wonderwood if I were to recommend only one. Their best scent is Avignon, but not for a blind buy unless you are in the market for the...
NY Oud. The only one that can match that sweater. If you are going to be noticed... BE NOTICED!
I usually just throw them out. They are not that expensive (i.e. not worth the time / effort). But I completely agree that hot water and dish soap would do the trick just fine.
Armani Prive Cedre Olympe if I can ever get my hands on it.
Ormonde Jayne Black Gold - if I can ever get my hands on it.
Neela Vermeire - Bombay Bling
Oriza Legrand - Reve d'Ossian
+1 Cuir Noir (Armani Prive).
Creed Royal English Leather (if you can find it)
Green Irish Tweed
Packaging probably designed for different regions / markets. When you get stuff from the grey market, you never really know where it came from. Also, it may be older stock and so wouldn't reflect...
Have a sample of this on it's way from LS - actually all 3 of these new by Kilian scents. Really looking forward (but not too optimistic) to giving these a try.
Everything. Really like always having something coming in the door. Unfortunately.
Guessing it was referring to Creed's MI, and also Tuscan Leather - not Creed TL, but a Creed and also TL... I may not have cleared that up lol.
To paraphrase an old poker expression:
If you don't know what an old woman smell is.... it's probably you! :cheesy:
Some good ones mentioned already (especially Blackbird and Royal English Leather).
I would add by Kilian Incense Oud and Annick Goutal Les Nuits d Hadrien.
I really enjoy those both all the way...
Yes, this is pretty close to Sublime Vanille. This would be my recommendation also.
I smelled a lot of great new released in 2014. Most of which were not mentioned. A lot of people on Fragrantica have smelled very few niche scents - it is far more designer / mainstream oriented...
Thanks for the info hednic! Mine may not be vintage, but I like it a lot, and if the new one is in fact different - even if just a little - then I'm glad I grabbed a bottle when I did!
Just received my blind buy of:
Habit Rouge L'Eau
Chanel Allure Homme Sport
Me too. The more I wear this one, the more I like it. I didn't think I would like it in the winter very much, but I am really enjoying it today.
Some of you seem to be missing the intent of the question - and possibly intentionally so. The OP was not asking what YOUR grandma smelled like, but what reminds you of what a generic "old woman"...
Yep - I bought my bottle directly from MdM in November 2013. It is an EDP with silver sprayer in the urn / hand grenade / acorn / whatever bottle.
Not sure what the original smells like, but the...
See below for my current seasonal favorites. I can easily think of 30 others that could make this list on any given day however.
Bond No. 9
Scent of Peace for Him
It doesn't get talked about much on this site, but I think it is an excellent fragrance - much better than La Nuit IMO.
Agree with these.
My 4 favoirtes:
1) Armani Figuer Eden
2) Neela - Ashoka
3) Heeley Figuer
4) Diptyque Philosykos
I like Sycomore, but I can't see it pulling a lot of compliments.
I used to get rid of the ones I didn't like. Now I keep them all - for reference. But that will probably change. Perhaps this will be the year of the purge (or at least weeding out a few nasty...
Ah - yes, I missed the part about them being testers. I have never purchased a tester before myself. But I might be willing to if it were for a discontinued masterpiece that I didn't already have.
I think DHI of more of a younger woman scent personally, but agree completely with Black Aoud - I forgot about that one.
Neiman Marcus was able to track down not one, but two bottles of Royal English Leather for me long after it was discontinued (but that was over a year ago now). I would highly recommend snapping up...
Very fresh. Very long lasting. Very expensive:
MFK Acqua Universalis Forte
Usually wear SL Fille en Aiguilles, but this year I think I might go with Oriza L. Legrand Reve d'Ossian. But probably will not decide until after my shower that morning.
Tom Ford Black Orchid
I am going to be in the minority, but I completely agree with you. I like both, but prefer Café Rose a little.
10 sprays? Surprised you were the only one who was sick. Nearly a hazmat situation I would think.
His SotD: Andrea Maack - Coven
Yes, but it's often the power of suggestion.
I bet if Acqua di Gio had Leather listed as a main note, a lot people would mention it in their reviews.
 Nice. One of my favorites this time of year!
Maison Francis Kurkdjian
I have heard a lot of talk about some of them being reformulated - mostly Straight to Heaven. I would be very disappointed if they are in fact watered down.
I see sever interpretations of Kouros. Here is my mental image of the scent:
Nothing that comes close to Aventus yet.
Yeah, Encre Noire is excellent for the price. Well, excellent for any price IMO.
Kenneth Cole Black. Phenomenal and pretty cheap.
I would also add:
Kenneth Cole Reaction
Blind bought this. It's ok. I personally can think of dozens of scents that I like better for the same price. So, for me, it wasn't the best value ever, but for a lot of people, it just might be.
I got in on a split of this a while ago - I should be getting it tomorrow! Very curious to try this one.
Not a fan at all. Very sharp and cold. Borderline scrubber for me.
Slightly soapy extremely long lasting neroli. As far as neroli scents go, this is one of the tops for sure.
However, it doesn't smell like what people come to Montale for. It certainly doesn't smell like so many others - it's a Montale attempt at something like BN9 Scent of Peace for Him. ...
Spice & Wood
Never really know how to answer the "and why" part of these questions. It just smells perfect - classy, clean, fresh, long lasting, versatile, modern, etc.....
Congrats. I have this on my short list of things to sample soon. Sounds like a winner.
Thanks Jack - I had read your review on this - it was one of the reasons that pushed me into pulling the trigger on this one!
Thought I just might have been done for the year, but just blind bought 2 more things:
Guerlain Habit Rouge Sport
Guerlain Habit Rouge L'Eau
Hopefully I will be all set until Jan 1, when I can...
Agree. Except I do get just as good performance from Nio (possibly better).
Always. Average about 2 different ones / day.
Yeah, like others, I am not sure what you use to determine your "overall".
That's pretty close to how I feel about many Mona di Orio scents. This one included. Not the worst from MdO, but nothing I want to wear really.
Very underrated IMO.
Of course, there is Egoiste also.
1) post a photo on a server that has public access - or open an account on a site such as: http://postimg.org/

Bond No. 9
My 3 favoirtes:
My wife love Interlude Man on me, but I think there is WAY too much oregano in it (otherwise I think I would love this one too).
Tom Ford Tuscan Leather
Some great ones mentioned, I would add these options:
Ormonde Jayne - Ormonde Man
by Kilian - Straight to Heaven (50ml refill)
Dior Homme Sport 2012
Only wore it once so far from a sample I have - thought it was pretty decent. Actually haven't bought a bottle of it yet, but it's possible. Just didn't wow me like I was hoping. But certainly...
I have to update my list to mention one ghastly piece of bad:
Mercury is so bad I lost all respect for nu_be - and I was quite a fan of the first 4. Mercury smells like an old...
See below for my current top 10. But could easily put as many as 50 into that top 10 based on my mood.
Blind buy based on what I read about it. It was only $11. Just from a quick spray, I think it smells just like I...
Wow - that's a good deal. I'm going to have to look into that.
Someday soon, fragrances will just come out of a vending machine. Then we won't need to be upset with sales people who don't know as much as we do.
Personally, I don't need an SA to tell me...
It wasn't really a fragrance that triggered this for me. It was running out of a fragrance (Hugo Element). I went to put it on one day (the only fragrance I had), and it was empty. So, I went on...
This was not a hobby until not too long ago. I had never had more than 1 bottle of anything. I usually smelled like soap / shampoo... or an ashtray, since I used to be a pack / day smoker.
Own and love Tam Dao EDT & EDP. If you think the EDT is a little too sawdust-y, try the EDP.
+1 Sacred Wood.
Also, my SotD - Mathat SantL. But I think that was a limited run, and is no...
There are a few scents I would certainly like the vintage version of, but most of the scents I love don't have a "vintage" version yet.
It's pretty sweet, but if you like 1 Million and Pure Malt, you will probably like it. It's a very good scent with great longevity. Not expensive, so I would say to do it!
Absolutely love both. That is where the similarities end IMO.
I just can't bring myself to get rid of any. Maybe next year they will click! No harm in keeping them around. A few I could probably do without, but hard to bring myself to it.
Lol - yeah, I have the EDP. Absolutely love it. That's why I am looking forward to giving the EDT a blind buy. Probably can't improve upon the EDP, but GV with a twist would be another great...
Oriza L. Legrand
Vetiver Royal Bourbon
Well, they don't get paid that much. And the turnover is pretty high I would think. I'm sure these companies have decided that it's just not too smart to invest a lot of money training these people...
I never keep any fragrances in my car. I will grab an atomizer and put it in my pocket if I need a fragrance for the road.
Milky smell? You sure you have the right stuff?
Congratulations! I have never smelled this one. May be worth looking into.
Bond No. 9 Silver Factory
Huh. I have actually been in quite a few horse stalls in my life. Didn't realize they came any other way.
But all I can think when I look at those pics is "don't drop it!"
Monsieur Balmain if you can find it. Or perhaps if you liked AdG, you could try AdG Essenza.
One of the best scents I own, Unique, rich, complex citrusy scent that lasts 10 hours. Absolutely love this one. Probably my favorite From CC - but still haven't tried L.
Probably my favorite from this house. Always enjoy wearing it. Just received 30ml of it the other day - and I wasn't even out yet. Very underrated scent here. Just might be my SotD tomorrow.
This was a blind buy for me a few years ago. Wasn't quite my style. I sold it about a year ago. It came off a bit skanky to me - along the lines of Dior Leather Oud. Has the petting zoo oud vibe...
I am a very big fan of the whole Armani Prive line personally.
Other than the 2 you already tried, I would recommend these for a try:
Oud Royal - one of the best scents I have ever smelled. ...
