I though so myself, hednic.
I ordered some samples from Parfums Raffy on Tuesday of this week and received them today. Not too bad from California to Illinois.
Well said, MimramMan.
I think it's time for you to flip a coin, Delicious Scent. It would be between "Black Orchid" by Tom Ford or "Opus VI" by Amouage. I'll be waiting to hear the results.
"The Architects Club" by Arquiste
I'm going to be the stick in the mud and say, don't waste your time with Ralph Lauren, joshrj711. All have terrible longevity and most have been reformulated. Ralph Lauren is really not the same as...
I'll stick vintage for this thread and the original formulas to boot:
"Lagerfeld" by Karl Lagerfeld
"Fahrenheit" by Dior
"Kouros" by Yves Saint Laurent
Night Out: "Rose Night" by Montale
Casual: "Patchouly" by Der dufte Engel/Raphael
Dressed Up: "M" by Puredistance
It's a "skin scent" then, Dorje the improbable?:lolk:
Wet: "Patchouli" by Molinard
Dry: "Chergui" by Serge Lutens
I was going to mention "Orange Sanguine" by Atelier Cologne. Another great choice. Happy and safe travels, therm.
I was at the dentist one day and was wearing "Grey Flannel." The dental assistant asked me what I was wearing, along with five others that afternoon. This was one of my first fragrance, what can i...
I like to kept my perfume experience varied. I work in a location with over 200 employees. They are love the come visit to smell what I am wearing that day. They enjoy the variety and I think that...
"Pulp" by Byredo
"Sweet Lemon" by Jo Malone
"Hesperides" by Fresh
Some think a Skin Scent means you've waisted your money.:lolk:
Try these, Draven:
"Lemon Tart" or "Sweet Lemon" by Jo Malone.
I have all four, Viffer. You won't be sorry.
Were you undecided, CapriDog? I looked at Haute Voltige at Barneys Thursday but didn't pull the trigger.
Anything with Amber, Leather, Smoke or Fur/Fir is out of the cabinet.
I'm looking for a bottle (preferable unused or mostly full) of the following:
Tom Ford - Velvet Gardenia
Not only am I familiar with the scent, Shiny Beast, I'm familiar with the photo. I took it.
As most of you mentioned, Café Rose is the best of the four new fragrances from Tom Ford. I enjoyed it enough to purchase one today at Neiman Marcus. I also ran into another Basenotes member at the...
The reformulation is not as great and the original, but what is?
I smelt No. 10 at Barneys one weekend and had to take it home. One of my favorites next to Tea for Two, or course.
If you can't afford Tuscan Leather, Mark Birley Charles Street is a good substitute. I myself prefer "C".
Any thoughts on Arooq Al Oud, DULLAH?
As already mentioned, well groomed feet make this option more attractive.
I discovered Oud Immortel at Barneys one afternoon and fell in love at first sniff. I always get positive feedback when wearing this scent.
What a nice memory, Izen.
Yes I do. It is a great trick for weaker fragrances to increase projection. Works every time.
Sorry, I could stop at three:
Un Bois Sepia
Five O'Clock Au Gingembre
Fille en Aiguille
I'm glad that I could inspire such a beautiful cabinet. This is much more luxurious than mine :)
Have you used one of these, colognejunkie2000?
Musc Kublai Kahn is one of the famous Serge Lutens I just don't find interesting.
Nicely said, MikeNY.
Lots of Serge today I see.
Terre de Bois
How about an update regarding you trip to Barneys, Charlie2000.
Funny, I sampled Oud Wood today at Neiman Marcus for the tenth or so time and found that it still doesn't last more than 30 minutes on my skin so, I will go with Royal Oud.
I just took a closer look at Parfumo International. I currently have 44 fragrances (9-own, 35-sampled) that are currently not in the Basenotes Fragrance Directory. Parfumo International has all but 4...
Angeliques sous la pluie
On average, most samples were between $2 and $4. Samples of pure parfum, perhaps $6 and $10.
I have renamed this "Royal Lip Service". I'm not impressed.
Nice job, John. I can't wait to sample this.
More spice please!
^ This and this>
Let's forget about how important you are, PuddieMonkey and I'll explain the problem. These guy and gals are not the UPS drivers from 15 or 20 years ago. They have these people doing crazy routes and...
Polo was one of the most popular men's fragrances of the 1980's especially in the bar scene. Don't even try to compare the new and old. Yes, many people complain that the original version was over...
UPS will cut into any time that is productive. The service has gotten incredibly terrible. I usually have shipments sent to work and they delivery at 7 or 8 p.m. CRAZY!
I get great longevity out of the EdP and perfume. The perfume just has an overall deeper scent to my nose.
Lots of Serge today I see
That explains everything!
I'll second that.
I've always wanted to sample Bouxeuses.
The biggest difference, in my opinion, between the Parfum and the EdP is depth. They smell nearly identical except the Parfum is a little deeper and richer. I chose the EdP. This lasts about 10...
Do you know specifically what five store?
I agree, Trebor. Who in their right mind needs 100 ml of pure parfum extrait with a 25% concentration? I think 50 ml would have served most people well.
I received my sample Monday but I'm still digesting. Comments to follow.
I'd love to know what MikeNY thinks about this.
