That's a really nice one.
Have you tried Lalique Hommage de L'Homme? Very nice. My birthday is coming up too, and I will want at least 1 bottle, or it won't feel like my brithday!
I had a similar experience during freshman move-in day at college back in the 90s. I thought I was being clever packing my bottle of original Polo inside my rolled up duvet until my friend, who was...
Bond No. 9 Brooklyn
I have decided that if I buy a Bond, it will be from a third party vendor, not directly from Bond. I bought Brooklyn (saved $20) brand new and NY Amber (for $118 shipped) in a 75% full 1.7 OZ used...
I really like Tom Ford scents. I find them unique.
I got a used Bond No. 9 NY Amber for $118. I also bought 4 pieces from Penhaligon's: Opus 1870, Blenheim Bouquet, Quercus and Sartorial.
Wow. Cuiron is a legend. My wife loved it on me.
We humans are a diverse lot, aren't we? I can't even relate to that.
Summer. Period. For everything. I loathe cold weather. And rain for that matter. Unrepentant sunshine boy here. My wardrobe is 75% tilted that way.
Creed Original Santal
While I was on vacation I saw the following in these stores:
Issey Miyake Sport Set
D&G The One Sport
Versace Eau Fraiche
D&G Light Blue Pour Homme
Varvatos Travel Spray...
That's a good one.
You know, I tried those two and they did nothing for me. And I am a huge Creed fanboy. Guess I need something else.
Penhaligon's Opus 1870
My thoughts exactly...along with a Polo/Z-14 type and a Sartorial/IB type. Make those additions, please!
Bond.No. 9 Brooklyn...Happy Anniversary to me!
If one offered double the cost of a tester, then they'd have a bottle to replace the tester you bought. Just a thought.
Found my new set at a myrtle beach outlet store that always has at least one gem for me on my annual pilgrimage. My 18 year old son spotted it for me...he knows I'm always on the lookout for the Jeff...
Be there in 4 years, Lord willing.
Got me an oakmoss set from 2008 for $12.99 today. Includes 2.5 OZ EDT and a 1.0 OZ aftershave.
Snagged 2 of my wish list scents on my beach trip.
Halston Z-14 set with oakmoss 2.5 OZ set w/as and EDT $12.99!!! Dates to 2008, says oakmoss on box.
Got it at a discount fragrance outlet....
Thanks! 23 wonderful blessed years!
My wife bought me Bond 9 Brooklyn for our wedding anniversary.
Me, too. More than enough on hand. My Italian Cypress is about 2/3 empty, but when you only wear it once a month...
Sprayed this on my arm at a store today. Still reminds me of Paco Rabanne PH. That's a good thing.
Thankfully, my little family was treated very well in the NYC boutique. But mixed results over the phone. Tricky. And pricey.
Bond Riverside Drive
Yep. I dabbed from a sample vial this AM, about 8 dabs, and it is a faint sucker to be sure. But, still a nice scent. Nice and upbeat. My wife really liked it before I walked out the door for work.
Wearing this today. It is a weaker version of Versace Man Eau Fraiche to my nose. Nice, but not FBW.
I agree. Current EDT is weak. They wrecked it.
Penhaligons Juniper Sling
It's actually a pretty unique scent.
I still have a butt load of samples from my visit to the NYC boutique two years ago. But no newer scents samples other than the SOPFM that I picked up in SF a few weeks back at Saks.
My wife and I really like it. Glad I have a bottle. Not the most natural scent, but it sure smells good.
Still looking forward to my beach trip this week. I have resisted temptation lately (last 3 weeks), so I am looking forward to hitting the outlets to score some deals. If I don't find...
212 Men has a strong cult following for many people. On certain folks it seems to work particularly well. I'm not one of them.
Bond No. 9 Manhattan
Mont Blanc Legend
IMHO, the current version is not worth having in my collection. Just my two cents. I had the original and this stuff does not compare. Just sold my new version bottle off. Watered down and lacks that...
You are correct, and that is my plan. The game is expensive and a little tiring. I think I'll smell my roses for a while.
You could pretty much rotate those year around! Plus, they're both good for any situation.classics and versatile to boot!
Strangely, for me especially, I don't give a whit that they've changed the thread title. As a married man, I actually prefer it. I have a wife and other than her compliments, male or female...
Good for you, bro! I scored a bottle for $29.99 at Ross a few weeks back. Think I'll wear it this weekend.
Glad I inspired you (sort of)!!! Best deal ever!
I'm trying to be patient with mine, and change my application spots on my body. I'm going to hold on to it hopefully for at least a year and see how it matures.
Other than the celebrity crap, that's actually pretty comforting. Now bring back oakmoss!!!
L'Occitane Eau de Baux
He nailed it. RG is a personal fave.
This is wisdom. Listen to him, grasshopper.
This is an expensive lesson that I have learned as well. Over and over. I'm trying to do better, and my son's college expenses are forcing my frugality. That's a good thing.
I saw Aramis Gentlemen Series Tuscany for $24.99 at Ross. Also saw .5 OZ Varvatos travel spray for $12.99.
Wow. Bit of a reach.
You are correct, except that I don't consider myself a collector, I am a user primarily. Now Hednic is THE Collector!!! No one compares to his legend. That is said with warm regards and genuine...
My wife is ga-ga over Rive Gauche on me! So I'd better hold on to it!
Soy milk will give ya boobies!! JK, LOL!!!
The spearmint and lavender bring Cool Water to mind, but my memory might be off.
The tonka note is the only thing that is causing me serious concern. I usually hate it.
Yep, that's a big part of my problem. I buy scents that I just really "like" way too easily. Then I have a glut that renders many seldom used.
Tonight, just for kicks, I think I'll see how many I...
Is it exclusive to Macy's?
So I have a relatively modest collection of around 30 full-size bottles. Today I wore YSL RG PH for probably the second time in 4 months and it dawned on me "I need to wear this a lot more!"
YSL Rive Gauche Pour Homme. So good...I need to wear this a lot more often.
I have owned probably 20 different Bond scents. I currently own For Fathers and Montauk. They're not stellar scents and that's why I have sold/swapped off so many.
Please, please, please let it be an 80's throwback type of scent! I know I'm only kidding myself, but wouldn't it be nice? I'd like a rival for the beast that is Dior Eau Sauvage Parfum.
Now there's an idea!
+2...I just got a nice compliment from my male CFO first thing in the door this morning (ADG Essenza).
You know, I was considering asking for a bottle of Scent of Peace for Men for my upcoming birthday, but I think reading this thread and considering all these points has changed my mind. I think I'll...
One of my biggest blind spots is that I enjoy the purchasing experience/hunt/opening the package more than I enjoy actually owning the scent in many cases. Sick and twisted.
That said, I do...
I applaud your stance.
Yes, you would think that! I actually purchased that bottle STRAIGHT from the store in NYC! WOW.
Me, too. I have a 1.36 OZ bottle that I've been trying to sell, but I decided to keep it. Glad I did! Enjoying it today and got a compliment first thing in the door to work this AM.
I'm from WV originally. I've been treated like crap by jerks in upscale stores as well. They're just so superior. When I now say I'm from Georgia, I get treated better. Come on. It can give one a...
They are a mixed bag, mostly bad. I had a great experience in their NY boutique...I dropped about $350, so they gave me and my family tons of freebies, including a full size tester, tshirts and lots...
I'm calling myself the hypocrite! I just ripped countless flankers in another thread, and now I'm excited to see a Drakkar flanker!
Now to be a complete hypocrite...I'll have to check that out! I have no beef with Drakkar when it comes to flankers.
If she's hungry, that's awesome!
That would appear to be the case.
I got a big compliment from a CVS Pharmacy cashier about two weeks ago. I had applied Aventus about 10 hours earlier and had told my wife that I was disappointed in its lasting power about an hour...
I LOVE the smell of Fruit Loops! Hmmm...do I need this scent?
Creed Original Vetiver
Had a feeling.
Yes it does. They never get old.
Yep. I like Eau, but that does not mean I think countless spinoffs are cool. I just think that a company is pushing its luck when it goes down the "blue, black, sport, acqua sport, eau, summer...et....
Like that makes it OK? LOL!!! Personally, I think one flanker per cologne is best. I think creativity would be nice.
I am trying to spray away from my neck these days. Mixed results so far.
There's just something about Bvlgari scents that does not click for me. There's a "zestiness" or fizzy quality that turns me off.
Did I get compliments anyway? Yes. The original Bvlgari Pour...
I think I smelled Bleu on one of my employees today. I was actually kind of impressed! I think it was one of my male nurses.
No more Bvlgari Man flankers, please. Just start a new stand alone.
CVS Pharmacy. $9.99 apiece.
Dior Homme Eau for church this morning.
Creed Aventus for The Beach Boys concert tonight.
I've seen those in Atlanta discounters, but not around here. The prices have been way too high and can be easily beaten on eBay.
Like a 2.5 OZ Polo Blue for $39.99? Not such a great deal, huh? That's what I've seen lately, too.
I like it best at Fall football games out in the air. It is not a youngish scent though, IMHO. Can't see a pre thirties guy in this.
I agree. When I buy a CK they are soon sold/swapped. Own zero ATM.
I'm afraid the great days of scents have passed at these stores, due to my theory on production adjustments. Hope I'm wrong.
