Ahh the smell of Bruce Wayne after a long night of research in the BatCave.
Do some fragrances age better with time? Like Scotch or wine?
So I'm wearing this now. It's... lovely, to say the least. Classy. Elegant. Like slightly smoked wood with incense and roses. I can see wearing this with a vest and tie, or another elegant night out....
That long!! I figured 5 years was a farfetched reach!
What is good storage, per say?
Curious, because investing a few hundred on fragrances would seem silly if they didn't last for a few years.
I sampled this twice over two days while visiting the local niche shop. It's a great smell, but almost... to safe. It's great for interviews, church, the office. I was looking for something a little...
I'm very interested in the Mayyas. My local niche perfume place has Montale's... I'll inquire if they got any of the new lineup!
Tried Creed OS just yesterday. Smells great, but I agree it can be a bit Big Reddish.
Great scent though! Would love one like it, but with less big red!
Wait... brands use fecal notes ON PURPOSE??
I guess that quote in American Hustle thread is more than just shock value script writing!
Can I ask a serious question:
What's the appeal of GIT?
I sampled it on a card at Neaman's, and it reminded me of grass by a pond behind a pub. GIT smells like the fresh outdoors... but why...
^Agreed on the washing question.
Also: newbie questioN: how do I transfer from one big bottle to a small atomizer like this?
Ask your fiancee! Go test different smells with her, find out what drives her wild! Wear it all day during the wedding! Enjoy the results!
Meet in PUBLIC, and next to an ATM! If you sell, meeting by an ATM will guarantee they're never "accidently $20 short!"
Also, I think certain niche brands are likely to NOT be fakes, especially...
Green Irish Tweed is great, gets lots of love, but for high school? Kids will say he smells like a pond behind a pub! I remember in high school I thought YSL was TOO potent for my sensitive baby...
Have you guys tried Rose 31? How does that compare?
Used it on New Years, and even after hours of dancing, sweating out drinks, and spilling martinis on myself, I got complimented on how amazing the scent is! Granted... She put her nose up to my...
Invasion Barbare. Smells so versatile and safe that I ended up NOT buying it.

Wore Aventus the other day. Went to Wendy's a few hours after application and I thought it had already faded off of me. The cashier looked at me, gave a gushy look and said I smelled good. I laughed...
Hmm... I'll definitely give Osthmanthus and TF Tuscan a shot!
That's a good point! Let me rephrase the question: which fragrance has your favorite blend of smoke AND fruit!
I get that Aventus holds the most-loved/most-hated of this category, but what fragrance has your favorite combination of smoke and fruit?
Edited for the pedantic
The Perfume Shoppe is nice. Watch out for how they subtly corner you into buying a fragrance! They do have top of the line smells, and Rebecca is patient. The owner... not so much. My suggestion is...
Wow, people either absolutely love it or hate it.
I picked up a sample at Barney's last night. From what spilled onto my fingers it lasted quite a while, and was strong in a feminine smell. I've...
I know Aventus is typically reviled around here, but it does garner compliments more than other brands I've wore. I'm still new to the field, but so far Aventus got this girl cashier to gush and tell...
Knize Ten is one of the more recommended ones in regards to leathery vanilla, so I may give that a shot. I'm headed to Barney's today to sample Portrait of a Lady, so I'll see if they have Bel Ami...
Haha, makes sense. I'll read the reviews now!
I'm attending a modern Great Gatsby soiree, and am looking for the right scent for it. What would you guys wear?
Hello, I've read through the reviews of PoaL and am intrigued, but am not able to seem to find a local sample of this. Nonetheless, what are your thoughts on the fragrance?
You guys are making me want to extend my collection!!
I've heard of people mixing scents. Whatever works! But two Tom Fords is a bit much for me.
What'd you think of TV by itself? That's the one that I'm pulling for, right now.
Invasion Barbare, aptly capped with an invader. Great scent, btw.
If you like the bottle then you should see the box and velvet pillow it comes in. I own a bottle of Clive Christian X. It is the bee's knees, but for the price you can get yourself 2-4 scents to...
Vote count so far. Looks like Tom Ford is definitely on my "to try" list, along with Hermes bel Ami. MIP and Black will be in there somewhere!:
Aventus is generally the most popular. I just tried on a sample today, and like you, I'm new to the world of fragrances. To me, the biggest differences between higher end perfumes and common...
Trying on Creed Aventus.
I'm half-Korean and Ramon Monegal lasted 12 hours on my skin. Last strong, even after putting it on in the early afternoon and though falling asleep and waking up in the morning!
I'm trying on Aventus for the first time today, actually. Small world and many coincidences!
Anyway, agreed: citrus open that lasted maybe 5 minutes on me, then a smoky cedar hits for another...
Dangit! It just doesn't project on me! Must be my body chemistry, because this is my fourth day and it' just not pushing out nor is it lasting like the Ramon Monegals!
To be honest, the cedar reminds me of guinea-pig cage wood chips.
I smell like my pet guinea pig. But a sexy, manly, regal version.
New to the smell scene. I must have tried 30 colognes in the past 30 days, everything from common smells to niche specialties. These are so far my top 5.
1.) Clive Christian X - spiced cedar that...
Acqua Di Gio is the most common one I smell. It's a good smell, is unique, fancy brand name, and easy to get a hold of, so it's no wonder it's so common.
Otherwise, I agree with Joe --wear what is...
After trying it on for four days straight, I'll say that X is just... pure. It smells like spiced cedar. It smells like a cologne should smell --without the metallic, synthetic, or ammonia-like...
I sampled two Ramon's yesterday: Mon Cuir and Agar Musk. Both lasted damn near 12 hours on me, both evolved into curiously different scents, and both are something worth having to vary your...
So far so good, even about 7 hours out. The projection really isn't what I want it at. I'm not looking for intrusive and oppressive, but definitely something that requires more than hugging vicinity.
I'm giving X a try. I've sprayed once on my clavical and once on my wrist, so we'll see how long it lasts!
I like the idea of the lingering scent even after wash, because I imagine the smell will keep capitalizing on itself and become sort of like a pair of worn in boots or jeans, where they customize...
Do you love the scent enough to justify the price?
Even after two showers the scent still lingers on my wrist, but before the washing there just wasn't any sillage or projection.
It smelled like smoked raisins on me, but in a manly alluring way. The problem is that the smell faded after about 3 hours on me.
Anyone have suggestions on what to try if I liked Clive X?...
In that case I better squeeze as much info out of you guys as I can before the New Year!
Awesome, I'm taking notes and making lists!
Can I just say you guys are awesome! I've frequented all sorts of message boards --fashion, fitness, technical, hobby, sport-- and you guys are super...
I don't see that in the list of fragrances?
What is Mip EDP?
I'm reading throuhg Black reviews now, and there's a lot of love for it. It sounds like a step-above-safe, but not-quite-a-night-out-fragrance. True?
Hey, thanks for the suggestions.
Hermes Bel Ami seems to be getting some love through the reviews, so I'll look for a place to sample it, or order a sample along with the Tom Ford.
First post. After a recent breakup (3 months is recent, right? :lolk:), I've started redefining and refining myself by learning to dress well, learning to cook, reading more, being...
