Hello Basenotes Friends,
I will join the group in San Francisco along with my sister. I will arrive on Friday afternoon and have a hotel room on Union Square on Friday and Saturday. I look...
I have been having fun working through my sample stash lately. I ended up wearing Sel Marin four days straight and used up the sample so I ordered a bottle from Luckyscent. I never thought...
I am sampling Sel Marin today. So far I'd say it has FB potential... It's love at first try but I have learned to try again (and again) before commiting. Wait! I am talking about...
I am sampling Cashmere Mist today. It's unbelieveable that I've never tried this enduring popular fragrance.
Have a good day!
The winners are not really my style. I thought Basenotes Readers Award winners were far superior.
Happy birthday, Twolf!
I am sampling Bamboo Harmony by By Kilian today. I am working my way through my sample backlog alphabetically for a while. How random is that?
I am sampling Amber Oud by By Kilian today. I like the top notes so far.
Have a good day.
I am wearing 10 Corso Como today. I will be wearing fragrances from my sample backlog this week. It should be a fun change!
Have a great day!
I am wearing Amouage Gold Woman today. Have a beautiful day!
Hmm... The only overtly "male" fragrances I own are Tuscan Leather and Original Santal. I'll probably go with the Creed.
I was wondering about that. That said, I'd choose:
Tom Ford Noir de Noir
I purchased Chergui and it was a quality product in every respect.
Tom Ford - African Violet.
V is for Volutes by Diptyque.
15 full bottles - more than I thought before counting.
I am just steps away from the beautiful Pacific shore, wearing Patchouli by Santa Maria Novella and drinking a Tom Collins. Life is good. Cheers!
I am starting off the day with a fresh orange blast from Oyedo. Wonderful!
J is for Je Reviens
Aventus has no parallel on the female boards in my opinion.
Hilarious! I knew this flaming thread would go this direction eventually. I am just surprised it took so long.
2. Cuir de Russie
3. Back to Black
I wore Blue Agava & Cacao today. There's a slight resemblance to the L'Humaniste I wore yesterday, but drier.
A couple of my favorites made it. It's good to know what our community thinks!
Free samples from Nordstrom, Bloomingdales and Scent Bar; purchase samples online from Luckyscent and the Perfumed Court; given samples by BN friends.
Happy birthday, Quarry!
Today, I am sampling L'Humaniste, a freebie from Scent Bar. I haven't been sampling much lately so I better get to it.
No, I never made that mistake. I agonize over every purchase and don't own that much.
I am wearing Amouage Gold Woman today. Tonight, DH and I are going to a college graduation party for a young lady who majored in Japanese and Global Studies. She gives us faith in the next...
Wearing Angel or Coromandel always puts me in a state of bliss.
I plan to wear it this summer. I'll be in air conditioning during the week or I will enjoy TL casually on the weekends.
P is for Patchouli by Santa Maria Novella.
Wearing Patchouli by Santa Maria Novella.
That's so nice...
It's Back to Black today. It's my third Most Worn but it's been months. For me, it's a cool weather scent full of sweet honeyed tobacco. Skies are grey today so I thought I'd take advantage of the...
Oh my... This thread was one of the funniest ever!
Hello - I am wearing Amouage Gold Woman. Once I stopped thinking of this one as a floral and started focussing on the spicy, powdery incense, I began to like it a lot more.
You are a very considerate husband!
I am wearing Amouage Gold Woman today. It's rapidly moving up my Most Worn list.
I've got my eye on Fate right now. Also, Sycomore and Tam Dao have been on my list for a while.
I am not in the habit of wearing fragrance to bed but last night I put on some Jicky. I slept great!
$325 for Guerlain Sous Le Vent.
I am wearing Angel again today. I need the uplifted feeling that it delivers so well!
I wore Angel today and got a rare compliment. Funny thing... I never get compliments except for Angel. I suppose I wear Guerlain, Chanel, Diptyque, Tom Ford, etc. for my own enjoyment.
Burning Diptyque candle: Baies. Plus green tea incense.
Today I'm in Lancτme Creme de Marron.
Great suggestion. I may need to branch out since patchouli puts me in a good mood.
When I think Italian, I also think citrus and herbs. The only Italian scent I own is Patchouli by Santa Maria Novella. It exemplifies the style because it's rich and earthy.
It's been a patchouli day. I started out with SMN Patchouli and followed an afternoon shower with TF White Patchouli. The SMN is rich and earthy; the TF is brisk and medicinal. I am finding that any...
I am in sync today with Magie Noire - much loved, rarely worn. Years ago I was in the dressing room at a Zen spa and overheard a woman say that Magie Noire was the ultimate brunette scent. I...
I checked my wardrobe and 5 or 6 are so-so.
Hello. Today I am wearing TF Champaca Absolute. Bracing for another 100+ degree day. Yuck!
I'll probably wear Oyedo a lot, plus L'Ombre dans L'eau, Sous Le Vent, Angel and Lady Vengeance. Maybe I'll try out some samples I haven't gotten around to testing.
I haven't discovered my scent persona yet.
This thread is Classic in so many ways... :rolleyesold:
I am wearing Olene today - by accident! It was in the L'Ombre dans L'Eau box by mistake. What a shock when I sprayed it on. Oh well, Olene smells good too.
SF restaurant, not pricy, not fancy: North Beach Pizza.
I use lotion occasionally to hydrate my skin but not to enhance the performance of my fragrance.
I, like my friend Quarry, also wear Tuscan Leather. I agree with a previous poster that TL is a very realistic leather but sometimes I experience its floral dimension as well. It seems to be a little...
My collection is at 30 and I wear more than half of them regularly, about a quarter occasionally, and 5-6 hardly ever.
I wore Creed Original Santal today while attending a professional conference in an air conditioned hotel - hiding from the 90+ degree temperature.
Around 2006, a coworker was wearing Jo Malone Blue Agava and Cacao and I fell in love with it. At the time it was extremely hard to find and I ended up getting it at Nieman Marcus while on a trip to...
My big bottle of Sous Le Vent. It was a special birthday gift. It's a wonderful fragrance and I'm sentimental about it too.
Yes, it does get bashed. I have experienced BN members making negative comments when I've recommended it. Most of the negativity regarded the lack of sandalwood ingredient and/or smell.
I am wearing White Patchouli and Champaca Absolute - my favorite Tom Ford layering combination. Have a good day!
Personally, I don't get too concerned about seasonality when choosing a daily fragrance. That said, I do gravitate to dry scents on hot summer days and cozy scents on cold or rainy days. No rules -...
I reach for cozy scents like Back to Black or Chergui.
Happy Mothers Day all!
I am wearing Amouage Gold Woman. We are going to another town to celebrate with my MIL, one of the most wonderful people I know.
Have a good day!
Tuscan Leather.. Going out to art reception dressed in leather.
Yeah, or maybe it's a case of "there's no such thing as bad publicity, all publicity is good." Not a day goes by without a new thread, no matter how redundant.
Amouage Gold Woman - day 3 in a row. I bought it when I was just starting out but ended up not liking it that much. All of a sudden, I can't get enough. Funny...
Aventus must be very problematic to inspire so many new posters with desperate issues. Maybe it should come with a warning label!
Tuscan Leather, most definitely, for me.
I always choose EDP when it's an option.
Wearing Amouage Gold Woman again today. The drydown from last night was so good I thought I'd spritz on more this morning.
This poll is over a year old. The polls are becoming redundant.
It must be disappointing not to smell your Aventus. I hope it works out and you try some of the members tips.
The instant I read your thread title I thought of Tuscan Leather. A previous poster suggested it smells too clean for a cowboy but I think it comes across as somewhat raw. I like to wear it on...
My SOTE was Amouage Gold Woman. It's my "going out" scent and I attended an awards banquet earlier tonight.
I craved something fresh and bracing and Angel seemed to fill the bill.
2. Patchouli - Santa Maria Novella
3. Sous Le Vent
Yes, it is really fantastic to have a functional SOTD again, one not cluttered with spam. It's fun to see what others are really wearing and maybe be inspired to try something new.
I am very happy with the new SOTD policies and up-to-date Most Worn lists. Thank you!
Wearing my old 80s favorite Obsession today.
The smell of Aventus can be a life altering experience!
I'd say about three sample sprays equals one FB spray.
Cheap? I don't think so! Yes, the packaging is beautiful as always with Amouage. Thanks for posting this new information.
It sounds so wonderful and the bottle is beautiful. I love the smell of cedar, especially clothing that's been stored in a cedar chest. I wonder if it smells anything like that?
I suggest neroli or orange such as TF Neroli Portofino or Diptyque Oyedo.
Sahara Noir is unwearable for me but I enjoyed the story. Thank you!
I wore Jicky parfum today and thought I smelled pretty damn good.
2 - I care a little.
I would like to know the thought process behind the excessive multiple posts of Arran Aromatics Vetiver. I have my theories but I won't presume to read the mind of another person. I would like to see...
So fish slapping is for real - who knew?
Of all the expensive/exclusive fragrances I own, the only one I got a compliment on lately was Angel. So in my case it's 100% designer. Not very scientific, I know.
