She's a keeper!
I blind bought Aventus due to the hype (back in my naive days) but I have been nothing but happy with my batch.
MFK APOM: Glowing halo
HdP Ambre 114: Reference Amber
Frederic Malle French Lover: Forest stroll
Dior Fahrenheit: Flowershop garage
Serge Lutens MKK: Vagina + flowers
Bleu de Chanel
Bulgari Pour Homme Soir
I really really like this one. Yes, it is on the "femme" side but I wear it loud and proud. It's so refreshing and makes me feel fantastic especially on a spring or summer day.
Five O'clock Gingembre?
Creed Jardin D'Amalfi is good for spring.
Ed hardy Love and Luck has been compared to MI.
I wouldn't wear that. I wouldn't trust the chemicals in there.
OMG! Maybe this is why I received Martha Stewart's Living magazine every month about 2 years ago. I thought it was a friend playing a joke (JOKES on them because I love cooking and baking) so I never...
I'm going to put my money on it being another Pure Havane/Malt scenario. People waited and waited, then snatched up a couple of bottles at the re-release. Look at the ubiquity of Havane and Malt now.
I would say stick with Rive Gauche Intense. For me personally, the L'homme series doesn't do anything for me. I liked La Nuit the most out of the lot, but not FBW IMO.
I have a sample of this. It's a very pleasant scent, and I could see it working in many situations. However for some reason, it triggers a strong memory of my family when we were poor and living in a...
You should be fine on fragrancenet.
Go with the real TdH the whole way!
Damn, that is tacky. A SA I know at Niemans used to work at Bond and she didn't have anything good to say when I asked about her experience there.
About 10 minutes after I dry, I'm putting on lotion. Then 5 minutes after that, I put on my fragrance.
I'm in the process of moving to another state due to grad school. I want to buy some boxes so I can stack my collection together in a container and transport them easier.
Holy cow! I was bored so I tried investigating my collection's batch codes. According to this method, I have a 2002 bottle of M7!
There is no one to blame but yourself. It is your fault you have such good tastes in fragrances.
6 shots? I'm going to go out on a limb here and say olfactory fatigue is at fault here. TdH is loaded with Iso E and many report to become anosmic to it after a while. I use only 3 sprays and it...
I have a bottle of the older juice. There is about 10 ml left and I'm afraid of using anymore if what's being said about the new stuff is true :(
Wonderwood gives me a similar vibe as Encre Noire but WW is smoother and way pricier.
I've never seen those signs personally, but I hope to never run across it
Damn! I thought of Chrome before I even clicked the thread. Seems like others think the same. However, I don't think it's annoying though. It has a place.
1. Amber scent--> Ambre 114
2. Vanilla scent--> 1899 Hemingway
3. Oud scent--> MFK Oud
4. Leather scent--> MIP
5. Gourmand scent--> New Haarlem
Horizon by Guy Laroche gave me this feeling
I've sampled both, and I'd go with APOM. The neroli in NP was too much for my taste.
This is fantastic! Congrats!
MI all the way
live jazz can be had for relatively cheap
Bulgari Pour Homme Soir
I really like this one. It took me a while to appreciate the spicy/sour opening. But I realize that stank gave it some character as it dries down to a pleasant vanilla-sandalwoody base. i don't think...
Virgin Island Water!
AdG, Le Male, Cool Water in my neck of the woods
Creed Jardin d'Amalfi for that Mediterranean scent.
Cool Water might suit your needs
L'Occitane Vetiver. Had it for about a month before selling it. It wasn't for me.
A split of Creed Jardin d'Amalfi. Worth it! Beautiful scent!
Overrated? Yes. Overpriced? Yes. Do I still enjoy their scents? Yes
Good luck! I wished I had your self control!
No. Most of my close female friends who I let see my collection dislike many that are highly regarded here such as M7, Rive Gauche, most vetivers. But they like Cool Water, AdG, etc. Understandable.
Go with Five o'clock! Easy to like. Many of my friends who don't even like spicy orientals said they liked the smell.
I adore MiP EDP so that would be my choice. I get good projection and excellent longevity out of this one.
I'd say Burberry Brit is my least favorite in my collection. It was my first fragrance after joining basenotes. Your first has a special place in your heart but sometimes it doesn't have a place in...
No man! Go with Terre d'Hermes! I've gotten a few strong compliments from females from this one! Don't worry if it smells mature. I'm in my early 20's and females my age liked it on me!
1 word: My wallet.
Chicago is great! I try to get on Michigan Ave once a month but that's only if my grad school work doesn't get in the way. Barney's is great! The last time I was there, Bryce (or was it Brace?) was...
Welcome! Feel free to ask questions, post your opinion, and share impressions! Don't worry if you feel overwhelmed by the number of fragrances out there. There's a lot! But most important of all,...
I approve of your list. I love and have almost every single bottle on your list.
it's like waiting for Christmas morning as a kid. Except a whole week!
FBW? Fragrance with benefits?
Of the 3, I'd go with Prada although reluctantly.
Neither. In fact, I'd wear nothing at all. No clothes, no nothing. Make sure to pee on her to mark your territory. Bare your teeth and growl every time another male comes nearby so everyone knows...
Last night I had a dream about going to Barney's for a limited edition release of a fragrance. I don't think it was a real fragrance but I just remembered the bottle being exquisite. Anyway, I was...
I tend to reach for Jive Lazz, MI, VIW, and Bulgari PH Soir in the summer.
I second Brooklyn by Bond no. 9 for a gin vibe.
I don't reach for this one often but I always am in a good mood when i wear it. Never smelled "cheap" to me (although it doesn't smell "expensive" either)
Cool Water (current reformulation) still lasts all day for me.
Damn, exactly word for word of what i was going to say! I was only 3 minutes too late.
Dior Homme and Chanel Egoiste come to mind
Gucci PH II and Burberry London for me
TdH and 1899 Hemingway for me!
I got quite a violent reaction when i wore M7 as well as Gucci Pour Homme I.
LIDGE and Burberry Brit are very powdery to me
For me it's MI or VIW
This. Money. Joking.
I find myself drawn towards orientals so I guess that suits me best?
Ha! That's an amusing analogy. I agree to a certain extent. I really like the top and middle. Glorious! The drydown doesn't captivate me as much and it turns kind of sour on my skin but the beginning...
Congrats! I love those steals! I got a 50ml bottle of Gucci PH I for around $50-60 bucks at a shop near my home last year.
I dont normally wear anything for these events because I'll do most of the cooking (CUZ IM A MAN AND I COOK RED MEAT ARR!!) and sunscreen and bug spray will mask most anything I'm wearing since it...
I used to but my friends told me that they themselves don't mind it, but others might (their nice way of telling me most people think I'm weird) :(
i find I'm not a fan of strong grapefruit, civet, or barnyard oud scents
Probably 100 ml
I wear whatever whenever but depending on how heavy a fragrance is, I'll be mindful of the number of sprays.
Stop wearing fragrances for a few days to "reset" your nose. Also 5 sprays of MIP is a lot! I usually use 2; 3 max.
I use an unscented store brand lotion for my ashy-ass skin.
MI all the way
I agree. But if you're going to go with Bond, I say take a look at Brooklyn. A nice citrusy wood scent although I'm not a fan of grapefruit and the opening is a bit pungent for me.
I adore MiP! yes go with that! But as Marais pointed out, it's quite potent so make sure to go easy on the trigger since you'll be in close proximity with others!
Cool water never fails to get compliments. Everybody who isn't a fraghead loves Cool Water.
I joined relatively recent compared to some of the old timers here, but I remember TdH, Rive Gauche, and LIDGE being extremely popular when I first started.
You can never go wrong with GIT
Other's may not feel the same, but I adore it.
If you have to ask, then it's probably fake.
Higher quality? No. Generally tend to be more daring and unique? Yes.
Today I got to meet Marc Chaya, cofounder of MFK at a master class at Neimans. He was absolutely charming and knowledgable. What a down to earth, cool guy to talk about fragrances with. He showed us...
It's going to be a huge financial "burden" of course but if it helps to curb your spending, just remember that college is going to help mold your son into a financially, emotionally, developmentally,...
I like it but it's an easy one to overspray. Don't worry about other people wearing it. If it smells good, wear it!
Exactly what I was going to say.
To me, generic smells like something you'd find at a Sephora's or some place more accessible. It's a cop out term, but it describes those scents that try to sell to the masses which are typically...
