Zirh Ikon. Doesn't last long, but it's nice while it does.
Zirh Ikon is a cheapie that smells really good, but has poor longevity.
Now that you have the EdP - go for it. But I prefer the EdT in general, and think it works better in summer.
I finished a bottle of the new formulation, even though - like for you - it barely lasted 30 minutes. I would dearly love to find an original bottle.
M7 Oud Absolu is $55 on FragranceNet right now. A bargain.
Can anyone tell me if these 2013/2014 variants have a black or silver stem? I have been of the belief that I need to seek out a silver stem at all costs...
I love the scent of my 2015 bottle, but...
Just go on eBay, search for Iso E Super, and buy one of the home made versions here for like $15. Deal. It is the exact same. For this price, it's quite nice. It comes and goes in wafts for hours. At...
I got a FM335 sample from Poland. Smells OK, I guess, but longevity was simply terrible. I no longer had an actual TF sample to compare directly, so this is from memory.
FWIW - I ordered 5 FM...
I'm keeping my eyes open for one! It's not immediately obvious how to accurately tell the vintage...
My Uomo? is almost empty. I have loved it, but (at least on me) the longevity has been terrible. Can you suggest a replacement in a similar style?
Straight Iso-E Super? Molecule 01 (pricy), or any of the cheap knock-offs on eBay.
Which Swiss Arabian oils do you consider to be good copies?
I have five Federico Mahora samples on order - I will evaluate them on their own merits!
I have both and while the Swiss Arabian smells OK - it's nothing like M7.
Mostly because I was just getting into this, but the ones that remain deeply memorable are
3. Encre Noir (first vetiver)
4. Dior Homme
Acqua di Parma Colonia Oud reminded me of Oud Wood. Both only from samples, however.
Back to Black
+1, recent purchase.
99% full 100ml bottle of Dior Homme for $45.36 shipped. Deal!
I have not seen such a close run poll in some time. Two of my very faves, so I'm not that surprised. But I had to choose Egoiste.
When I submitted it was exactly 50:50.
I recently acquired some vintage Egoiste, and the very first thing my wife said was "that smells fizzy".
Get the recent Oud Absolu. I've had several decants of original, and a full bottle is not worth the premium. The current offering is absolu-tely good enough.
I also ordered one for $4, received two. It's definitely an 80's vibe - still deciding if I like it...
I just scored a ~70% full 75ml splash bottle of vintage Egoiste on eBay. \o/
It is absolutely worthwhile tracking down a vintage bottle. I have a 100ml bottle of the current formulation,...
High praise indeed!
Looks like it is called "Royal Men"
From google translate:
"Royal promises Oud Malaki "
"Bnfhat high and volatile oasis exudes Tlolaa and recovery. Orient Valfad which smells of grapefruit...
Try http://www.alwaleef.com/ in Google Translate? Can you see an image of your bottle anywhere in here?
Must be an older Egoiste. Alas my recent purchase struggles to last a couple of hours on me...
Bulgari Black for me.
The opening reminded me of Egoiste. Then it went in a different, more floral direction. I liked it.
Exactly these two.
I also get that note, more so in the modern rendition, of which I bought a bottle. I do not recall that note in my previous vintage sample.
I had been wondering if it was a very slight oud note....
"Eau de Toilette" above the "Chanel" is vintage. Also "L'Egoiste". See some examples here:
The first time my kid smelled LL au masculin he said "you smell like licorice!". Truth from the mouths of babes...
Or just search on eBay or Etsy for Iso E Super.
You can buy a 2.6oz/75ml (splash, unboxed) on eBay for $15-17. I got one recently and it's perfect.
Cream: Proraso Green/Proraso Red/Speick
Splash: Proraso Green/Floid Original (always in the rotation) ; Imperial Bergamot (currently - fine, but not as good as Proraso/Floid...)
Where did you order the Mont St. Michel?
Please - come back here and tell us what the Karnataka oil is like! I've been hunting for an online source of this, but coming up empty. I bought the Karnataka soap, and I'm disappointed. It's...
Acqua di Parma Colonia Intensa Oud is excellent also. IMHO, of course.
Schick Hydro 3. Never looked back after trying it. Works really well with Proraso green cream or Speick cream.
OK, so the tip I have seen previously is that vintage bottles have the "Eau de Toilette" above the Chanel. I wasn't sure how this applied to 50ml bottles, and I am not sure when this changed. There...
The box is no longer sealed, right? Can we see a photo of the bottle please? At least in the 100ml versions, there is a way to tell vintage. I'm not so sure about 50ml bottles. I have been hoping...
Some great suggestions, many thanks.
I own Pour un Homme, and I've sampled Troisieme & L'Anarchiste from Caron. I do like them, but not love them.
I've also sampled Black Aoud from Montale. I...
I've had many very ordinary scents over the years, usually gifts. Boss Bottled, YSL l'Homme, D&G The One Gentleman for example. Fine, not bad, but pretty mainstream. Then I started sampling, and was...
Does anyone know an online source for the Karnataka Sandalwood Oil (the source of the famous Mysore sandalwood soap) ??
Nice incense-y scent, but _extremely_ weak on me. Needs maybe 8 sprays (which I never do!) to last more than 10 mins... Nice scent for the price, though.
I've sampled the vintage, darker, juice (Eau de Toilette written above the Chanel) and I own a bottle of the current formulation. The current formulation, IMHO, is much weaker and significantly less...
I personally find Encre Noir light and fresh, certainly not insipid, and not citrus. Some find EN darker and smokier, and compared to some other vetivers, maybe it is. Sounds like vetiver could be...
Proraso. Really nice light menthol/eucalyptus scent, but gone in 10 mins. Excellent for the skin, only second to Speick. But I prefer the scent of Proraso!
Where are you seeing this for 6 dollars? I can't find it anywhere...?
Looking for a summer cologne. Which of these do you prefer? Which is more complex? Which has greater longevity?
Well most of them are indeed european, but SCS (Saint Charles Shave) is a US company. There's a strong following of these aftershaves here : BadgerAndBlade.
As mentioned, they are cheap, great...
I guess I could have been clearer. I use these aftershaves because they are both cheap and better for the skin than most "designer" aftershaves, at least in my experience. So go ahead and suggest...
Although most aftershaves don't last long, I still try to match cologne, best I can.
What would you match with:
Proraso - never really found a good match for Proraso - I wear Encre Noir mostly...
Alas, I must agree. The bottle I received this week (direct from chanel.com) is obviously Egoiste, but substantially weaker than before. Longevity seems like a couple of hours at most right now. I...
I own and love Egoiste - but I'm looking for something more "cost effective" for every day use. Is there any other fragrance that reminded you of the wonderful Egoiste? I love the burst of cinnamon...
I love Uomo? by Moschino, but I get terrible longevity. Like 20 minutes. Is Acqua di Parma Colonia anything like Uomo?
So i bought Uomo blind after many good reviews here, and while I think the scent is nice, on me it has the _worst_ longevity. Like 10 mins. And that's after ~10 sprays!!! I haven't asked my wife...
I have the 400ml Spanish Floid Vigoroso. I do love it (LOVE the menthol!), but the scent is fleeting. If I could buy a Floid EdT, I would.
Varon Dandy is supposed to resemble Floid. I haven't tried it yet, but I plan to. You can pick it up on eBay for about $20.
I love the scent of The One Gentleman, but longevity is terrible. An hour at best, sometimes less. Can you recommend something similar, but longer-lasting?? Perhaps something from Montale? Their...
