Re: Cartier Pasha and Ralph Lauren Safari

Both fragrances have been reformulated. I prefer vintage Safari over vintage Pasha, but current Pasha over current Safari. The reformulated Safari is a shadow of what it once was... The oakmoss...
  2. Re: Rive Gauche pour Homme vs Rive Gauche pour Homme Intense ?

They're both exceptional, but I consider them different fragrances... The original is much more fresh, whereas the intense is much heavier. I've actually enjoyed layering the two... I apply two shots...

    Re: RIP, Eau Des Baux

I've been wearing Eau de Baux since 2011 and I can't detect any differences from the bottles bought then compared to the bottle I presently own...If there were changes made since 2011, they were...

    Re: RIP, Eau Des Baux

I'm not sure... These rumors have been circulating for a couple of years and have never materialized... It doesn't hurt to have a back-up of your favorite fragrances, but I'm going to wait to see how...

Re: Cartier Pasha and Ralph Lauren Safari

In short, I'd go with vintage Safari over vintage Pasha, but current Pasha over current Safari. I own all versions listed and feel that vintage Safari is head and shoulders above anything else listed...
  6. Re: Spotting fakes, Rive Gauche pour Homme specifically

To a degree... If you reference Andre (who is an incredible asset to this community) on his Blog "Raiders of the Lost Scent" he makes reference to the addresses where YSL fragrances were produced and...
  7. Re: Speclative Futures Discussion - Rive Gauche

There's no doubt that the prices for the tin can flacon are going to steadily rise. This is a great, well-blended scent that has character and is incredibly distinct. There are few, if any...
  8. Re: Spotting fakes, Rive Gauche pour Homme specifically

I've never noticed a strong smell of alcohol with this fragrance, and I've been wearing this for a while. The first note I get is a sharp star anise. As others have stated, I'd be surprised if this...
  9. Re: Thanks to Basenotes, I discovered _____________ ( fragrance ).

I'd say at least 75% of the fragrances that I own! The ones that standout are Krizia Moods Uomo, vintage Hermes Bel Ami, vintage Gianfranco Ferre for Man, Ho Hang Club and Carven Homme.
  10. Re: Why do so many men not like Chanel's Blue de Chanel?

It's not a bad scent, but I don't consider it a great scent either. If I was to score Bleu on a scale of A to F, I'd give it a solid "B." I don't own it because I've never been drawn to it... I have...

    Re: RIP, Eau Des Baux

    Hello Gentlemen,

I just purchased a back-up today and according to the sales associate, she's heard nothing regarding discontinuation. It may be possible that she's in the dark and on a "need to...

Re: Best Tobacco Scents Out There

Personally, I love Krizia Moods Uomo (tobacco leaf at its finest) and vintage Gianfranco Ferre for Man (rich pipe tobacco).

    Re: Vintage Fahrenheit help dating

This is the earliest vintage of Dior Fahrenheit. You can see that on the top of the packaging's front that "Fahrenheit" is embossed over a blue strip. You also have yellow on the bottom of your box....

    Re: Storing Fragrances

Good question that will generate a host of answers. I keep decants in my closet where it is dark and cool. I then keep the bulk of my bottles in my basement in a chest. It never gets above 68...

Re: Back Up Bottles- When, Why and How Many?

I have back-ups of a number of bottles. There are just some scents that I wouldn't want to live without. I don't want to look back and remember seeing my most beloved fragrances being sold for insane...

    Re: Your Summer Rotation

Re: What was your first fragrance?

It was Chaps by Ralph Lauren. Great fragrance that I still enjoy today! My second was Canoe. I used to alternate the two back in middle school... Damn, where does the time go?!?
  20. Re: 5 must have fragrances for any mens fragrance enthusiast

Re: Armani Eau Pour Homme. A decline

I have found the reformulated version is not only not as robust, but smells like a wet-dog upon dry-down. The reforumulated smells "similar" to the vintage for a few fleeing moments until you are...
