Congrats. What is your impression on Geranium pour monsieur? I have been meaning to sample this since Summer is coming.

Congrats. What is your impression on Geranium pour monsieur? I have been meaning to sample this since Summer is coming.
Lys Mediterranee (it may not be your cup of tea, but I quite like it)
Does BtB smell remotely close to L'Artisan TF2?
Here are my suggestions (pardon the spelling):
Spring: Centaure, Route du Vetiver, Parfum d'Habit
Summer: Racine, Garrigue, Bahiana, Pour le Jeune Homme, Fraiche Badiane
I only wear a couple of sprays at work and not on weekends. It will last me a long, long time.
This is quite funny. I just wore it as my SOTD on Wednesday. Top note reminds me of cherry cough syrup, but it dries down really quickly and it becomes oud to me. The oud seems to have a some hint...
Don't think so.
No problems with longevity or sillage.
I find Back to Black very similar to Tea for Two. Anyone else share the same connection?
I am biased with MPG.
Racine, Fraiche Badiane, Bahiana and Pour le jeune homme are pretty good in hot weather.
Fresh, lemony and for sure star anise is what I can remember. Have to wear it more during this summer.
Cuiron has been discontinued for a long time and the bottle is likely to be old. The letters on the label of my bottle is "runny" too. It is getting pretty difficult and pricey to get. Leather,...
How about Jo Malone's Lime, Basil & Mandarin?
You are probably SOL. Canada has Haz-mat regulations for shipping/transporting flammable products via its postal services. They normally dispose these materials on sight (or so they claim). Did...
Hugh Parsons blue.
Castile will also be my choice. Makes me think of lying in the sun on a sandy and quiet beach!
Racquets Formula may also been another one.
I think it has to do with the family names (children) of Olivier Creed. They are shortened/abbreviated to become Erofla.
Anything with an incense smell to it. CDG Kyoto, Hinoki, L'Artisan Timbuktu.....
I wore it last week. It is in my fall/winter rotation. I think it is more suitable for the cooler weather.
Bond's Bleeker Street is a nice aquatic. Longevity is decent at least on my skin. Give it a try when you have a chance. It is a bit pricey though.
+1 on Vetiver Oriental, Fumerie Turque and Chergui. VO was my first bottle in Lutens. Strangely enough, I always associate chilly (i.e. late Fall and Winter) weather when wearing these. Couple of...
Eau des Iles, Iris Bleu Gris, Racine are all good. How about Garrigue? I quite like it.
Chances are they won't be able to tell you. I was told it was destroyed right away. What a waste! Bought it from thewholedamshow-2007 before as well, he seems to get a lot of FM scents.
AnthonyDG, I hear you. I was the same boat last year when I got a bottle of French Lover off eBay UK. It was "intercepted" by customs and subsequently destroyed. Of course, the seller declared it...
I don't think you will be able to find this in Canada. You probably need to order a sample from Luckyscent or the store in Germany that sells niche scents.
Don't think you can find FM or Richard James in Toronto.
Holts in Vancouver carries the FM line, I think. FM Carnal Flower is pretty wicked. Don't think you should wear it in the hot and humid...
How about Creed's MI?
Love the Classic 1920. All round scent. The Extreme is totally different (IMHO) than the Classic. Check out the B&S threads, they come up for sale once in a while if you are willing to wait.
Where can you get Iron Heart in Toronto? They must be really expensive.
On the same note, can you recommend a tailor in Toronto who can do a good job on chain stitch?
Aside from the usual suspects (and there are many good reviewers here), I sometimes look for Trebor's comments. Trebor is very hard to please (please don't take offense). I often use Trebor as a...
It is already up in the "Items for Sale" thread.
Oh man! What a bummer. $$ "evaporated" literally. How did it happen?
+1 Bois 1920 Classic is very good. Fresh and citrusy. Got mine from a fellow basenoter at a very good price.
+1 on Castile for more gender-neutral.
Fuel for Men / DK Men?
I have both. I tend to wear them in cooler months. May get too heavy in hot humid days.
Not at all IMHO. GdP and Baime both smell like salads (celery) with italian dressing to me. I think there was a thread on Garrigue as fougere before. Can't exactly pinpoint how it smells. It is...
T42 is one of the best tea scents around. I think it is more masculine, but it is unisex. I tend to wear it in colder months.
If you want to sample it and you are in Toronto, please drop by Noor...
Iris Bleu Gris is excellent. Fraiche Badiane is seldom mentioned, but it is a wicked (typical of MPG) take on citrus.
I recall a fellow basenoter did a battle of vetivers and Carlo Corinto came out on top.
How about MPG caps. Once the inner plastic ring comes loose, good luck in capping the bottle properly.
If I recall correctly, the SA at the Le Labo store will mix and bottle the frag at the time of your order. The label will have your name and the expiry date on it. It's a "personal" touch. Don't...
Just sampled on paper today. It faintly reminded me of D'Orsay Arome 3 Tradition / Chevalier (can't remind which). I think they shared a couple notes. Do you see any similarities?
Only 2 backups because I got an excellent price for both of them.
Not sure if this is the right thing to post on the forum.
There are a few Micallefs (Avant Garde, Patchoulli, Rose Aoud etc.) on eBay up for bidding. Only 1 feedback and the account was set up last...
Please give them a try. They are based in Germany. I have sampled from them. They all came in a plastic sprayer atomizer (> 2ml), nicely labelled and packaged together with strips. Excellent...
Parfum de Habit - MPG
Something along the M.Micallef line.
Bought Chez Bond when I first became interested in different scents. Didn't know about GIT at that time. LOL. However, I wear it because I like it. Gramercy Park is also on the sweet side. Highly...
Just got a bottle from a fellow basenoter today. I like it quite a bit.
However, the scent seems strangely familiar to me. Just can't pinpoint what it is.
Something along the line of Romeo Gigli?...
I may be way off here.
It is human nature to want to be different. The aura of exclusivity is what drives us to look for something "unqiue" and/or "off the beaten path"
Houses will specifically...
Chez Bond and Bleecker St don't smell similar at all. Chez Bond is very similar to GIT. Bleecker St is more like an aquatic. Love it.
Welcome. You should also try Tom Ford Noir de Noir. Damp and moist rose. Last a whole day for me.
Please give Red Vetyver a search, you should see some comments on it.
It is relatively new. Perhaps that is why it is not on their website.
You can always try eBay.
Didn't like it as much as Ormonde Man.
Wow, of the three TF I have, they last a good 8+ hours. Dry skin perhaps? I heard moisturizing the skin will do wonders on a scent. Of course, it will have to be "scentless".
Sorry for resurrecting this thread.
Took advantage of the 15% off from Beauty Habit and bought one.
Brand new sealed in the box. Much to my dismay, the color of the juice is the same as...
You don't want to OD on this scent. Maximum 2 sprays should do. It lasted a whole day for me.
$210 for the 50ml. Didn't bother about the 250ml.
The Toronto Holt has the entire line (less Italian Cypress and Arabian Wood).
Oh, then it is no longer a good price. The seller must have gone beserk buying all these. I think she has all 12 private blends as a lot up for bidding, aside from the numerous 250ml bottles.
Saw a bunch of 250 mls on eBay. $500 a good price? That's about $2 per ml. Not bad if you want to do a split/decant.
Uomo is Italian and Homme is French, they both mean man, no? The SA is partly right, but Fendi never made a scent called Fendi Homme and she got wrong the scent for you.
I guess I am lucky.
I contacted Linda after I heard about Zizan, but I didn't hear back until this Monday.
Her SA told me they were quite busy for X'mas (which is a good thing!). They have also...
Top five in "current" rotation
TF Tuscan Leather
Tea for Two
L'Air du Desert Marocain
Although I am not an ibanker, let's put a stake on the ground. How about Tauer's LDDM and FM MR!
+1. QFT. Many a times when I am about to buy a new scent, Trebor really made me think about it twice!
Both. Agreed on MR is a lot more complex. TF TV is just what it is: Tobacco and Vanilla. It dries down to a vanilla scent.
How about Serge Luten Vetiver Oriental?
Tuscan Leather, Moss Breches, Noir de Noir and Tobacco Vanille for me.
This is tricky. How about 7?
MPG - Racine, Santal Noble, Bahiana
L'Artisan - Mechant Loup, Tea for Two, Timbuktu
Frederic Malle - Musc Ravageur, Vetiver Extraordinaire, Bois d'Orage
Jo Malone -...
Tabacco by Odori to me smells like a freshly rolled moist cigar, I like it but I am not sure if it smells the same as pipe tobacco. I always associate a sweet aroma with pipe tobacco.
Jo Malone - Amber & Lavender
In the not too "weird" or "strange" category (IMHO): Garrigue, Fraiche Badiane, Pour le Jeune Homme, Centaure, Bahiana, Racine, Eau des lles, Amber Precieux, Santal Noble. You must give this house...
Nothing to add here. But you should try different scents in the entire MPG line. This is a fabulous house.
+1. Should definitely give each scent a try first. Pomegranate Noir came to my mind, but I don't think it is spicy. I also like Amber & Lavender, a smooth Lavender that lasts all day for me. ...
Do a quick search and you will see tons of opinions on it.
C&S, Montales, Domenico Caraceni.......
+1 on the Perfume Shoppe!
Someone is selling Cuir Ottoman in the BS thread.
I like Cuir Ottoman, very wearable. More like suede leather, smooth and soft.
Thanks guys. Will provide update when I get it.
Have a decant on Tobacco Vanille (thanks to a referral from a fellow bnoter). Got the Tuscan Leather via eBay (thanks to the same bnoter who got...
Ok, I confess. I had my eyes on a TF Private Blend and finally took the plunge to get one off eBay.
The price was fair (not retail) considering I am getting the original bottle and it is "brand...
+1 on Carlo Corinto Vetyver
How about Mazzolari Vetiver? I think it is a good clean vetiver.
I am told Vancouver's Holt Renfrew is the only HR that carries FM in Canada. You may try to ask the SA in the Toronto store to transfer a bottle over.
I am in Canada and I got mine in Walmart under C$20.00.
I suggest sampling them first. You might find something you least expected. That's all part of the fun.
Agree to start with Musc Ravageur, Bois D'Orage and Noir Epices. I quite like Lys M and...
Welcome to Basenote. Use the advanced search function, narrow it down by title and you should get some opinions on it. Come to think of it, I need to sample this one.
I think it has been discontinued. It was available on the Buy and Sale threads a little while ago. You may want to check there first. Ebay has it as well.
+1 on TF Tobacco Vanille. Got a decant coming my way.
Another suggestion is the Tobacco from Odori. While TF TV smells like sweet pipe tobacco, this one smells like freshly rolled cigars. Ones...
As an aside, the proprietor of Bond No. 9 had a "history" with Creed. I have not sampled GIT. From reading the numerous threads, Chez Bond is slightly sweeter. I like it very much.
Massive olfactory overload!
The initial blast is very strong, medicinal, earthy and bitter. After that, it tones down to a calming vetiver. If you can tolerate it, it is a very well crafted scent. You should give MPG Route...
Add: Bois 1920, Odori and Etat Libre d'Orange.
I am told Frederic Malle is available in Vancouver only.
You should also try: Parfum d'Habit, Route du Vetiver, Racine, Iris Bleu Gris, Eau des Iles, Centaure, Garrigue and Pour le Juene Homme...the list goes on....
MPG - Secret Melange - Tons of clove. Not for the faint of heart!
That's strange on STH. All I get is rum..... a boozy scent. Very linear with great longevity. Different skin chemistry perhaps. BTW, what color is your sample? STH is clear and Taste of Heaven...
Agreed. My brother-in-law (who is much younger than me) had this on and it smell great on him. He told me the ladies were crazy about this scent (or him) as well.......
MPG - Parfum d'Habit
