Re: Fragrance Frontiers ~ What's yours?????

I'm into men's fragrances at the moment. I like leather notes and smoke-like notes. I've found that men's fragrances incorporate leather notes more often than ladies perfumes.

    After hating...

    Re: Rose & Leather

    Hi,

    I haven't smelled Acteur.

Some people get rose and leather from Iquitos by Alain Delon.
I get the rose note but the leather is not evident on me.

Try using Knize Ten or another leather...

Cuiron smells like deluxe automobile interiors to me.
So I guess 'the poor man's' version of this smells like the inside of Ted Bundy's old VW? Obviously minus...

On buying perfumes/ decants on eBay.

Does anyone purchase fragrances on eBay?

I wondered whether anyone had any experience with buying decants from there.
There seem to be many decants of women's fragrances but not so many men's.

Thoughts on Michael, Iquitos & Cuiron

    I now own these three.

Michael - WOW! I can't figure out whether it's 'Venom' to Antaeus's 'Carnage' or the other way around (This reference is intended only for geeks like me).

    roll on bottles vs. atomisers?

Personally I tend to go for atomisers - but the roll-ons are cheaper.

However I am concerned that contact with your skin will alter the fragrance. Does any one else find this to be true? I've...

    Re: Recommendations on Orientals, please

    Hi,

    I love oriental fragrances!

    Some of my favourites are:
Gaultier femme - orange blossom and amber.
Coco Chanel (edp) - a spicy floriental with a touch of incense in the base. It also has...

    Re: Sillage option in wardrobes

I agree - longevity varies according to body chemistry and sillage from your own fragrance is better detected by others.

But yes, sometimes when a reviewer says a fragrance lasts a long time or...

    Re: Taking suggestions and recommendations

  23. Has DonnaKaran's Black Cashmere been discontinued?

Re: What scent to wear with purple and red

I'd go with Arpege or No22. Both are distinctive, Arpege is sophisticated and No22 (and I'm going by the husband's reaction every time I wear it!) is veeery sexy! It's feminine but that insense note...

  31. Re: Looking For That Elusive Scent! Please Help!

I think L'Instant drys down to a very nice, sweet-ish, slightly patchouli-ish base. I would not call it gourmand but it isn't all that floral either.
  32. Re: Fragrances that Killers from movies might wear

    Fun!

    Mine:

Nosferatu (either Max Schreck or Klaus Kinski) - Knize Ten or something with sandalwood like Samsara. Maybe even Bandit EDT - because he's cool like that.

    Norman Bates - Jicky EDT...

  34. Re: Any "Dark Hell" and "Angry, Moody" ideas?

I agree with the Bandit recommendations. Try the EDT - the EDP is softer. It's a very F-you scent! An acquired taste - I used to hate it, now I love it.

    Hi,

I've heard someone mention that on them Vetiver by Guerlain had a very strong nutmeg note. I didn't get this myself, but you could try it and see.
  36. Re: Looking For That Elusive Scent! Please Help!

I too recommend L'Instant Pour Homme. It makes an impression without being overpowering or loud. I haven't smelled anything silimar to this fragrance. The 'Extreme' version of the scent is not...

    Re: Mitsouko or L'Heure Bleue?

LHB (EDP) is more floral/ vanillic/ ambery. Mitsouko is a fruity chypre.
The EDT of M is heavier on the oakmoss, whereas I find the EDP slightly more full-bodied and smooth.

    Both of them smell...

    Antaeus & Michael for Men

Re: Are there any perfumes based on almonds?

Hypnotic Poison is a good one - bitter almonds, vanilla, a bit of musk.
Farnesiana by Caron - almonds, marzipan, a slight play-doh smell (pleasant).
