Get some Lancôme PÔEME! :-D
Supersillage and looong lasting!
A often complimented perfume.
Agree on Amarige, Gold and Fracas, too. Might add Organza.
Elixir des Merveilles, DK Black Cashmere, Flowerbomb, Angel, Obsession, Balmain Ambre Gris and Shalimarrrrr! ;-)
Oh, i don't find it that bad at all!!
The Opium heritage is heavyly loaded, of course. With expectations, connotations and perhaps unfair associations?
Of course it's a whole different thing than...
I tested some and use with great happiness Melograno (of which i am on the search for a new bottle, at the moment as well) and i like it a lot but i also had one bad experience with "Gold Musk" or...
I do like the 2006 version ("Shalimar Light") a lot. Have you tried it?
If you haven't you might like to read also what helg wrote on this:
2nd Escale a Portofinp, it's quite lasting for a lemon, if you'd also accept grapefruit, try Guerlain's Pamplelune and DKNY woman. clinique Happy, maybe (citrus-floral)?
Coconut: The Bod Shop's...
Wow, congrats to your find!
Havana is the best male fragrance around, which, unlike with feminine perfumes, i can easily decide.
This is the one and only men's HG scent-material!
There was a scent called "Pivoine" by Yves Rocher in the 80ies... in a white opaque bottle. It was the best Peony i remember...
Guerlain's Pivoine Magnifica is not bad at all but fleeting, (new)...
I'd still go for the original Miss Dior (via ebay, plenty of full vintage bottles there) or buy the reformulated stuff, it's quite good, still.
Don't get wrong and buy Miss Dior Chérie, because...
This was my first idea coming to my mind! :-)
It is soft and gentle yet it reminds her of being a woman, too, not alone a mother, due to its elegance. Her personality has so many facets, it might...
Oh, i LOVE ambers:
My favourites are:
Obsession, hands down (women's but men's is nice on a woman, too!)
Prada (original, not Tendre)
SL Ambre Sultan
I'll second in any case L'Eau d'Issey for an aquatic, refreshing scent with huge sillage! My fav. aquatic by far.
Aqua di Giò is nice, too. It has a fruty aspect added.
I wonder that noone mentioned Paris and all its springtime flankers.
I have been on a search for my ideal rose for a long time, many of the mentioned i tested and i liked them But i wanted a rose...
I love that description of Champaca and i suggest you try Pôeme on a warm day...
Regarding a dirty jasmine i second you try Samsara and Bvlgari's Jasmine Noir.
I also do love Hypnotic Poison for...
here are my suggestions:
Chanel No. 19 EdT (drier) or EdP (sweeter)
Y by YSL
Eau Dynamisante (more woody than green)
Vetiver by Guerlain (THE best "green" for very hot...
I absolutely agrkee with Nukapai!! Just wear what YOU love... no matter what others think. Another similar juice would be Midnight Poison, seconding SJP Lovely and also Gucci by Gucci, btw.
How sweet of him, kewart! :-)
Definately you should try DK Delicious Night.
It completely surprised me. Highly underrated scent, i find.
I love roses.
My favourites are:
Stella Rose Absolute (and Sheer Stella in summer) THE rose
Agent Provocateur (saffron sexy rose)
Magie Noire (spicy rose)
Chloé (new!) ( a light/"clean" rose...
Opium Fleur Impériale
Seconding Rush and Marc Jacobs (the original)
The new Gucci by Gucci features Tiaré which is a kind of Gardenia.
That is sooo good to read, dear! :-)
(I am always afraid they could disc. it because so few love it nowadays...)
I get a lilac note in Vera Wang. But i don't know if it is officially listed.
YR Pur Désir de Lilas is very close.
Après l'Ondee by Guerlain.
Donna Karan Gold EdP. I love this lily!
I must say i dislike the "class"-perfume-concept wholeheartedly.
Class is not the same as style and style is not the same as taste and taste is something very very difficult to discuss about.
Another one that is underrated and almost forgotten.
Dior has also today made some real gems (i.e. not only long ago with my beloved Miss Dior ;-)), Dune is one of them.
It reminds me of one...
Y by YSL !!!!
L'Instant. Don't know why i forget so often about it.
I am wearing Donna Karan's GOLD
I love the decade not only scentwise but also regarding literature, movies and music.
To understand the perfumes you would have to take a dive into the zeitgeist, i suggest...
My favourites were...
I would suggest to try what you like and to indulge in what you crave...
Count me in, i love it a lot, esp. in summer.
Soapy, green, mossy yet fresh and don't laugh: it features a heavenly green jasmine!!
Of course! This is in KenzoAmour!!
Very delicious and refined with soft floral notes.
Seconding Calèche. By far the best. I adore it!
Also nice soapies: Dolce&Gabbana (red cap), Sicily, Madame Rochas and to parts Miss Dior in EdT. Vetiver by Guerlain.
No.5 in EdT (which i personally...
I like CK be better than CK one.
When he's into the citrusy stuff why don't you try Paco Rabanne Black XY? It would be lovely for a boy like you described him.
Opium, Angel, Rush, Black Cashmere.
The dislike of Rush might say that she isn't into spices and patchouli.
That would exclude a whole lot of scents.
Try Kenzo's Eau d'Eté (first choice, a bit similar in character to L'Eau...
Imho you should really consider Guerlain's Vetiver which is BY FAR the best one ever made. It is the one "masculine" scent on the market which is mostly sold to women....
A faint hint of Aromatics Elixir works for me as well as Chanel No.5 Sensual Elixir when i cannot sleep or have bad dreams.
Féminité du Bois is also great.
what a nice idea for a poll!
My favourite three are:
D&G light blue
Acqua di Parmo Colonia
I alo love a lot:
Castorpollux, i love Aguas Tranquilas, Merman and Dive !!!
Mine would be:
Venus' breath/ Souffle de Vénus
Au fond de la mer
I am wearing my beloved ROMA today. Why did i not wear it for so long?
"my" Claudia would wear Angel, i suppose.
I like the Angelique encens idea for Marius, although i can also picture him in a dry fragrance. Pour Monsieur by Chanel would also fit.
Wanda: Tabac Blond
Severin: Helmut Lang
Julius Cesar from the Shakespearean play must have worn Old Spiceor Eau d'Hadrien. ;-)
@ pierre obsidienne:
i like the Tubereuse Criminelle association. what do you think fits Justine?
A nice range, this is!
But with this one in the list, how can you even dare to ask??!!
So you are one of the few specimens to still wear and use and LOVE it? Congrats!!
Aramis HAVANA is and...
Madame Merle *drops a curtsey*...
i'd suggest Tabac Blond for this character, it adds some lether... ff Fracas, maybe, to symbolize the turmoils she causes...
Datura Noir might be a great choice,...
TBS Vanilla is a "bright" vanilla, i love it in summer!
Kenzo Amour is a ricey-milky-vanilla with some cotton-y florals in the topnotes... a nice summer choice for vanilla lovers, also a white...
I wonder noone has mentioned Serge Lutens' Fleurs D'Oranger?
A true and narcotic, lingering and sexy scent that features neroli, tuberose, jasmine and spices (nutmeg) and has a slightly musky (or...
My ideas are:
Chanel No. 5 or Fleurs D'Oranger - Aphrodite (Love, Beauty, Sexuality)
Eau du Soir, Euphoria, Jicky - Artemis (The Moon, The Hunt, Children and Animals)
Chanel No. 19 ; Guerlain...
Try Sicily by D&G for an ultimatively long lasting floral-oriental with a sandalwoody base. Go for it if you can take its honey-dropping seductive sexiness...
And ... beware... ;-)
My mum once wore that one, i quite like it it's kind of a German classic since the 1980ies.
The notes are (according to douglas.de website) : grass, fruits, jasmine, musk and honey.
Had to think about that for a day.
I fully agree upon Vetiver which i love and Gucci Rush, which makes a great gothic seducer that lets your lover ponder about dread or delight. Or the one that...
No. 19 pure perfume or EdP , maybe?
Please please please try when you're heading for Must de Cartier ALSO (better: before! *bg*) another, in my opinion THE Cartier gem "Le Baiser du Dragon" in both (EDP AND EdT) forms!! If you find...
I am wearing the heavenly EdT form of Le Baiser du Dragon.
Bliss ... with some vetiver added!
It's the light version of Féminité du Bois which i personally prefer in summer. It's not so long lasting. Timide means "shy" in french. It is used as a body spray.
I am eagerly waiting for the Le Baiser du Dragon EdT and the new huge bottle of Guerlain Vetiver i ordered.
Clinique's good old HAPPY also contains a slight whiff of lovely frangipani, i think. Give it a try. It's great on real humid and hot days.
As soon as i put on Hypnotic Poison i want Cantucci, as soon as i put on Angel i want dark chocolate and honey, as soon as i put on any vanilla i want pudding, fruit salad with vanilla sauce and and...
Me, too, please do recommend en détail!
Of course you could! Just try not to overdose. You cannot judge without having tried.
Another declared EdT-version lover here... enjoy your new finding...! ;-)
Taolady is so right! le Chevrefeuille is one of the greatest perfumes by Annick Goutal, please do try if you get a chance.
It's a poignant green with a honeysweet dewy fresh middle note. Absolutely...
I love that thread, found it just today and agree completely upon Tabac Blond! Her smile isn't that innocent at all...
Stella McCartney Stella Rose Absolute.
My favourite Rose.
Seconding TBS Tea Rose oil for a wet red rosea after a summer rain shower.
Anna Sui (classic one).
I also love a few drops of "big guns" for bedtime. Fracas, Opium, Coco, Angel. In summer Marc Jacobs or Sheer Stella.
No. 5 Sensual Elixir is by far the most perfect bedtime fragrance.
Blind buy love: FRACAS, Jicky, Cherry Blossom (Guerlain)
Blind buy disaster: BANDIT, Quelques Fleurs, L'Interdit (new), Arpège.
Egoiste and Dior Homme are fabulous on women! I like both on myself and would like to recommend also Eau Sauvage (Dior) and Vetiver by Guerlain for summer. Both are heavenly and fresh and/or green. ...
for me the boarders are melting one into another... relaxed makes sexy and sex/sensuality relaxes...
comforting: Les Belles Almond Amour, Angel, Hypnotic Poison, Vanilla oil (TBS), Coco, Euphoria...
No.5 Sensual Elixir today for me.
I was surprised i liked Mitsouko as i am normally nota chypré person at all.
Alos have experimented and reacted positively with Aromatics Elixir EdT. I like it, best in hot summer at night and...
But what DID Mary Poppins wear then?? I always received something kinky with her. Am I the only to see it that way? Maybe it's the shoes, the dress and doctor's bag, i don't know... ;-)
Congratulations to your choice. A truly beautiful perfume. Softly caressing and calming.
Wishing you all the best, dear!
Sorry for bumping the thread but can you imagine this one has NOT been launched over here yet??!!
Please! Say it isn't so!
Which Velentino do you mean, if i may ask?
Tried it and fell in love, It's an easy wearable light and soft rose with floral middle-tones (orange flower, gardenia) and a soft vanilla-base in the end, maybe some small small connotaions of...
Without realizing it, i got aware that three of my very favourite perfumes contain almond notes:
-Hypnotic Poison - which is a great great great melange of bitter and sweet and jasmine
I can't stop sniffing the Sensual Elixir version of No.5, Euphoria and Marc Jacobs (the Gardenia one) when i am wearing them.
Like on many others Fracas is a similar case with me!
Maybe they put...
Although it is somehow not "the right season" for this beauty i cannot resist using it. I bought a bottle because the smell wouldn't go out of my mind after i had sniffed it once in a store...
I see giving a gift to myself as an act of worship to the body which is the temple of the soul.
My gift to myself was Brit EdP already two weeks ago.
AND: boyfriend, lover and girlfriends will be...
I have tried two so far: Shadow Witch Orchid (a deep and dark white floral and orchid mix with a vanillic base) and 13 (a cocoa, orange, vanilla mix).
Both are of an astonishing quality regarding...
Thank you dear, that's the same what was assured to me by our dear helg.
I do really feel eased about the fact.
Can anyone here prove truth of the (for me) horrifying rumour that it is being discontinued by Vivienne Westwood?
As far as i can see it is still on their website and the well-sorted stores over...
Euphoria is my suggestion!
This scent and your description of it, kissandmakeup, is absolutely intrigueing me, i wish i can find it here...
Thank you so much for the wonderful review!
Wet leaves, grass or moss are...
I dare to say Acqua di Giò, maybe?
I am a HUGE Murakami fan and reading the book i was of course wrecking my brains what he could have meant. My first thought was Miss Dior but now i am very sure that he is talking about Diorissimo,...
What a fantastic story! Seems like it's a kind of talisman somehow for you. I also switched for the refillable small star last time i bought Angel.
I am now planning to have such a cool and hard...
I agree on Stella, the Rose Absolute version, esp.
Have you thought about Donna Karan's Black Cashmere?
Féminité du Bois is darkness in a cool and elegant japanese-medieval way.
I'd love to add Boudoir for its flesh-like-ness
and Rush and Euphoria for its patchoulissime.
Agent Provocateur if i'm into rose and saffron.
Vanilla is sultry for me, too. here my favourite is...
Organza by Givenchy, of course...
Nutmeg, vanilla, jasmine and sandalwood, all in one... ;-)
I tried it and found it just to be the Eau de Toilette version of Agent Provocateur which i personally don't need.
Just today i am wearing the original EdP to the office. The sillage is not so big...
I wanted to add one more scent which has not been mentioned here and is in my eyes a strange chimaera between gourmand, oriental and chypre (although it is classified as a woody-oriental): Euphoria...
I tried this one a few weeks ago and i loved it instantly.
A pure and intense seductive jasime perfume with a certain neroli crispness in the head that avoids it becoming too stickingly sweet on...
I'd also like to join the white madonna lily suggestion. Anais Anais? It might not fit on the first sight (those pastel colours, the white jar) but it keeps a secret you only will know wearing it...
