Here at Basenotes.net rose frags are some of the most favourite among men.
And no one mentioned Tihota? Shame
They are very similar. There is another one: Ramom Monegal Umbra. And to Answer your question, I would go with VT.
Dior Oud Ispahan is a typical Rose Oud. It is atapical in that, unlike other rose ouds, this one is perfect. I highly recommend it. It has all the rose oud facets of a hundred different perfumes,...
I remember sniffing through an entire perfume store in Palermo back in 2006 to walk out with only a bottle of Antidote. I knew nothing about perfume back then. If you don't like it, you should pass...
Brutal lavender. Lasts forever. No oud. Lots of amber. At times sweet and delicious. Gets woodier and deeper with age. But in the morning it's a lavender hangover.
Mona di Orio Cuir. Smells just like gasoline and motor oil.
That's a difficult one. Amouage Gold? But Gold is not really a tuberose. Oh, I got one: Bogue Maai. That's a hell of a tuberose and is so animalic that it can easily be considered a masculine...
M is like Bel Ami in 3D

I bought a 100ml for $450 cad from the perfume shoppe a year ago, and have gone through good ten ml since. A very rich fragrance. Smoother than Bel Ami. Very well blended. No rough corners. ...
Querelle by Parfumerie Générale is very much like Memoir Man.
I have a sample. It is pretty delicious
Lots of honey. Reminds me of Angel Men but I haven't smelled the latter in years so going based on memory alone.
And the one no one mentioned so far which is the most favorite vetiver among vetiver lovers of the world, Mona Di Orio Vetyver
My favourite straight ambers are:
Puredistance M for the citrus.
Absolutely most definitely Ambrarem by HdP. Nothing comes closer to a true west coast ocean beach stench.
$250 is a very good price. Mind sharing where you found them?
I bought a decant three years ago and was very underwhelmed by the "milky" nature as well. Just recently I saw a bottle on sale for a really good price and I couldn't help buy snatch it up. And...
Salvador Dali PH is great in its own right, but its much more than straight frankincense.
I think I have been to that famous perfume store in Bologna which carried the widest selection of niche I've ever come across, including a full range of Amouage attars ready for testing.
Cecile Zarokian has been top of mind for me lately
Bois D'ascese smells like smoked sausage on me. Not a good look.
Yea, tell them about it. And while you're at it, invite them over to see your worm farm.
Seriously, don't tell them about it unless somehow fragrances come up in conversation.
Versace of some sort in at least 10 sprays
Diptique Eau Duelle is a vanilla mixed with spices, incense, and citrus. My favourite vanilla.
I am sure that this one was selling well for Tom Ford. If you consider that Ambre Sultan is Lutens' best seller, there is little reason to think that Ambre Absolute was a flop for Tom Ford.
Trayee by Neela Vermerie. Real mysore and it shows. Much more vibrant than any other santal frag that I've tried.
Chergui is bland. Arabie is loud and tastless (but really enjoyable if you're into that kinda thing), and Amber Sultan is a classic fit for daily wear on any occasion, man or woman.
Papillon Anubis as well as TF Sahara Noir
Both are dry, smoky, and harsh in the bois d'acese kind of way.
Skin chemistry is real. There is not a hint of anything unpleasant, or even sharp for the matter, in Sycomore on my skin.
I would say that it is a terrific winter frag. Noir Epices has a very loyal following and for great reason - it is a classical composition.
Dior Mitzah. This is one is a spice basket.
+1 for Amouage Fate - I love it because of the cumin overload.
They are two different fragrances. I have both, and despite goibg through a major selling phase, I am not letting go of either. Both are great. Notice how so many people said that the...
Puredistance M is it. Strangely enough Sycomore also feels Christmasy. I never thought of TV as a Christmas frag, but now that it was said, I can't see how it isn't!
Certainly! Neither LIDGE nor LIDG did anything for me. The fragrance just does not come alive on my skin. Just sits there flat. No charm, no charizma.
Honour if you are in it for the pepper
Probably some small house which hasn't managed to release any really bad fragrances yet. Neela Vermeire, Vero Profumo, and Naomi Goodsir come to mind.
I have Bel Ami and Bel Ami Vetiver on my shelf side by side, and whenever I feel like wearing Bel Ami, I always end up reaching the BAV. It is just so much ..... nicer! It is like Bel Ami in a...
Exactly my thoughts. Wear something enormous like Memoir Woman, which will blow everyone's mind cause they are not immune.
This is different from my all time top five:
Armani Prive Bois d'Encens
Dior Ambre Nuit
Parfumerie Generale Coze
You want masculine from Serge Lutens? Then you must recommend Serge Noire to your unsuspecting male clientele. I wold have to say that this, and Fumerie Turque, which you don't sell, are the...
Perfumes can have different notes but be linked by the same idea. LDDM and AS, while being amber frags, are completely conceptually different. Amber Sultan is replaceable, LDDM is not. While AS...
Forgot to add Parfumerie Generale Coze, which being a patchouli centered scent, presents the note in such a different way that I completely overlooked it while thinking about patch frags. It is a...
I have to second Bois 1920 Real Patchouly as the best ever. It isn't a pure patch as it is quiete ambery, but it has the booiest, intoxicating quality to it. Zegna Javanese Patchouli and...
Don't forget querelle. Probably my most favourite foresty incense ala Memoir Man
This is the perfect smokers fragrance because the smoke here is cigarette smoke.
Mona di orio cuir is the smell of an old mechanic's garage
There is Bois 1920 Real Patchouly and then there are all the other patch frags. It is the most refined and intoxicating patchouliI have ever tried. Absolutely gorgeous without the sweaty skank but...
Shipping is a flat $10 for regular airmail, or $13 for tracked airmail.
Prices are fair and non-negotiable!
However, only in the case that you want something really bad, but just can't afford...
Xerjoff Zafar has a strong apple note.
I think this one is going to be a basenotes favourite. Here are my thoughts on this subject:
-It is sweet
-Has loads of frankincense
-Rumored to have oud in it
-Complex enough to keep you...
I definitely get anise in it as well! It is not a note that jumps out on me, but comes and goes through the early part of Interludes development.
Christopher Chong describes interlude as " ... a reflection of all the trials and tribulations one overcomes to attain personal satisfaction and achievement." Upon smelling interlude, it becomes...
Amber Absolute because it is beastly and thrives in the heat of summer.
What do you need to smell expensive for? Is it a cheap way to have people think you're wealthy?
Plus, what does expensive smell like? Does it smell like a high end department store? Does it...
I have 2 50mls of Amber Absolute and another 60mls in decants. Looking to get more :)) it is discontinued and unmatched
Yep, some frags I only enjoy wearing at night. For example Amouage Gold. I have a hard time with it in the morning, but it's my go to scent to wear to bed. Fumerie turque was one before. There...
The opening and middle blows are superb, but the ultra long dry down is not pleasant at all.
Sycomore is really a one of a kind perfume. Yes it's a vetiver, but no other vetiver can replace it
Amouage Gold - powder, civet, beautiful flowers. This is animalic in the same way a unicorn is an animal.
Montale Oud Cuir d'arabie - this is animalic in the same way a taxidermist is a zookeeper.
That's easy! just like the above poster hinted at - put a sprayer into a bottle of amouage tribute and two sprays will kill everything in a ten meter radius.
I consider TV to be unwearable as well. It is mega powerful but gets on my nerves after the first 15 minutes. It is very simple and flat. I can't imagine an occasion when anyone would want to...
Cavali Black is one of my most beloved, but it is retired for the winter because it really is very weak in cold temperatures.
There are a few pre made unisex roses out there Montale Black Auod, Tom Ford Noir de Noir, Le Labo Rose,
It used to be Prada Amber, but after Hérmes Voyage, Amber started smelling so thick and heavy that it was hard to wear.
