I agree. Had the same impression.

I agree. Had the same impression.
Royal Oud is nice, but I much prefer Royal Mayfair. I think Royal Mayfair is unique and there are fragrances similar (or remind me of) Royal Oud.
Regarding success, since Royal Oud's release in...
You are not the only one that doesn't get it. My experience was similar to yours, when I sampled it it was just another run of the mill rose oud fragrance. This smelt similar to Kilian Rose Oud (a...
Expensive, but one of my favorites from Kilian. A top boozy scent IMO.
Tommy by Tommy Hilfiger
Creed is one of my favorite, if not the favorite, house. They consistently release great or really good fragrances. Because it's such a popular house, it will have its share of detractors and they...
Of the three, I've only tried the Bond and Hermes. I'd go with the Hermes.
Wow, $210 USD for 4oz of RM??? That's super cheap compared to what it's going for at the US Creed Boutique ($475 USD). Can't wait until European online retailers begin selling this.
I thought it was okay, but very expensive, especially since the 100ml has been discontinued. Nice find OP!
My preference is also the original Oud. After that would be Cashmere Mood. Silk Mood was nice, but feminine. I don't remember how Velvet Mood smelled, but do recall not thinking much of it. I've yet...
Does anyone know if the City Exclusives, or any other Le Labo, is available on the European online stores? The only one I'm aware of is www.skins.nl.
I agree the price is quite high. However, at the ~$300 price point for 50ml, Luckyscent would give 5-6 samples, so it does sweeten the deal a little. I guess if there's a CE that you really like, may...
Full bottles will be available starting September 1. Not sure for how long and which stores though (other than Luckyscent).
Interesting, my 2010 Windsor lasts around 12 hours for me. I have yet to give RM a full wearing, but curious to see how it performs.
Just got a notification from Luckyscent that Le Labo City Exclusives samples will be available on August 1, and full bottles will be available on September 1. I believe Le Labo does this every year...
This. One of my favorite from Frederic Malle.
Sprayed my RM received via a split (thanks Remik). Now prior to this, I've tried the 2010 Windsor, but not the 2009. The opening blast of RM is more subdued than the opening of 2010 Windsor, in that...
As others mentioned, Bois d'Orage is far more similar to Spice and Wood than it is to Royal Oud. That said, I'd probably go with Royal Oud.
I would rank them the following:
1. Spice and Wood
Bergamote 22. Just doesn't last long...
I have a bottle of DHI as well and not that impressed. It's the reformulated version, but I hear it doesn't differ much from vintage. I figure since I'm not a fan of DHI, I probably wouldn't like DH.
I think Back to Black is a must try. In my opinion, it's their most popular fragrance. Additional winners are Apple Brandy, Musk Oud, Vodka on the Rocks, Sacred Wood, and Rose Oud.
I haven't tried Royal Mayfair yet, so will replace it with Windsor (2010 version) in my list below.
2. Pure White Cologne
4. Spice and Wood
5. Jardin d'Amalfi - I would...
Agreed. As mentioned in my earlier post, if they just reduce the price from $290 to around $200, I think I'd purchase it. I prefer it over Rose 31, smells more natural and I don't get that cumin...
I didn't like it. I got a strong curry note and it just wasn't my cup of tea. I didn't smell leather either. I would highly recommend sampling first. If you end up liking it, you may want to sample...
The price is a preventing factor for me as well. I really like Baie Rose 26, but just don't see it as being worth $290 for 50ml. If they reduced the price to $200, I think I'd buy it. Le Labo having...
I'm kind of in a similar boat. It's starting to be cyclical for me. I purchase for 2-3 months, then take a break for a while (maybe a month or two), then get back into it. Right now I have no desire...
It's my favorite from the Hermes exclusive line. I still wouldn't pay $255 for it. I'd rather pay a fraction of the price and purchase a 10ml decant, and that's what I ended up doing.
Good point. I used to buy into the whole "natural ingredients" reason for the batch variations, but last time I checked, not that many other houses are known for batch variations. Maybe it's because...
Arabic insert doesn't automatically mean it's fake. I have authentic Creeds purchased from Fragrancenet with Arabic inserts.
For those that have tried it, in your opinion is it worth the €550 ($614) asking price?
I get a good 10-12 hours with my 2010 Windsor. I'm in a split of RM and will be doing a side-by-side comparison once I get it. Based on what I'm hearing, the smell is the same as the old WIndsor but...
250ml of 1849? Wow, didn't know about that.
I really like 1849. It's the first, and only, Creed I bought at retail (though I did get it at a 10% discount). I find it to be unisex, but I can understand those finding it to be feminine leaning. ...
Same here. EURUSD has been staying steady at the 1.10-1.11 range these past couple months. I thought we'd see it in the 1.05 range due to this week's Greece news, guess not.
I've tried both and like Tabacco the most. Cuoio smelled good on my wrist, but I didn't like it as much when I gave it a full wearing. I didn't end up purchasing either.
Valid for July 4th only.
Coupon code is FREEDOM
There's only a few exclusions, most notable is Malle.
Thing is, once it hits the grey market, it's not like it's going to be super affordable to the average consumer. For example, 4oz right now retails for $475, once it goes to a site like Fragrancenet,...
Thanks for the review. This is good to know because I'm not a fan of Straight to Heaven. Way too much patchouli for me. Was curious how the Lemon in Zest flanker would smell, but now, not so much.
That's good news, thanks for the initial impressions.
This has been my experience as well, especially for GIT and MI (as you have also later mentioned). For me, it's not just the longevity...
Personally, I would like it to smell like Windsor. I wouldn't mind if it's a different, but better, batch though. When Creed says it's Windsor, but just under a different name, I'd expect that to be...
+1, until I hear more details.
Too many to choose from, but if I had to pick one, I'd go with Oud Wood. So many winners from the original Private Blend release.
A recent Tom Ford fragrance that I like is Mandarino di Amalfi.
I'm confused as well. Can you provide details on where you tried it?
Call me a sceptic, but I would be surprised if Mayfair smells exactly the same as the 2010 batch of Windsor. Seems too good to be true.
Interesting takes so far. Not sure if I'll ever want, or be able, to sample these. The prices are nuts, €550 (which is currently about $615 USD) for 50ml. This line is around €200 more expensive than...
If someone at her home is there to sign for the package (once it arrives), then it will be delivered there. Otherwise, USPS would leave a note saying they attempted to deliver a package and that she...
Creed Spice and Wood
Same here. I have the 2010 batch and I get 10-12 hours.
Creed Millesime 1849
Looks nice, especially the gold cap. I also got the official email notification from Creed regarding this news.
Yeah, they do not charge tax for California. When I ordered Millesime 1849 a couple years back, they didn't charge me shipping either.
Same here. Would like to know initial impressions. Closest I found was a first impressions video on YouTube. Curious what others think.
Creed Pure White Cologne
Count me in as one who does not find their fragrances too similar to other houses. In general, I find them pretty unique. I didn't notice a similarity between Back to Black and Dior Homme Intense nor...
I sampled Vetiver Geranium once and I much prefer Aventus. VG didn't really wow me. Maybe I gotta give it some more wearings.
Tom Ford Mandarino di Amalfi
There's also a splits page on Reddit at /r/fragsplits.
I've seen splits in the following Facebook groups:
The Fragrance Guru Nation
Thanks Grant. Would the selling fee apply to splits?
Le Labo Bergamote 22
Since the Basenotes Splits page will be no more soon, I'm wondering if we can get a consensus on where the new home for the Basenotes splitters will be. Will it be Crystal Flacon? Or somewhere else?
Thanks for all the hard work, Grant. We really appreciate it.
I agree. The main Basenotes pages I visit multiple times a day are: Male Fragrance Discussion, Splits, and Discounts. I...
+1 for Vetiver Extrait
Millesime Imperial by Creed
Vetiver Extraordinaire by Frederic Malle
Terre d'Hermes Parfum by Hermes
Depends, if it's for work, then 2-3. If it's for going out, then 4.
Dior Homme Intense by Dior
Came here to say this. Tea for Two is my favorite from the line, it was then discontinued for a few years, and now it seems like they brought it back (it's currently listed on their website).
I recently found out that a lot of my unused Frederic Malle spray samples are 1/3 the amount they used to be. I've seen this issue in my other spray samples as well. Fortunately, I haven't noticed it...
Rochas Man by Rochas
A light cologne that smells really good is Kenneth Cole Reaction. Longevity sucks, but if you don't mind re-applying, then it should be fine. I'd say it lasts around 3-4 hours. I barely ever get...
Apple Brandy by Kilian
Yeah, I wasn't a fan of this one. I did really like Mandarino di Amalfi though. For Costa Azzurra, similar to your Tommy comparison, the main reason I wasn't a fan was because it smelt too...
If/when the City Exclusives become available worldwide again, does that mean that I can order it online from places like Lucky Scent? Are there any other online retailers that would have it?
Creed Green Irish Tweed
1. Roja Parfums Vetiver Extrait
2. Creed Original Vetiver
3. Frederic Malle Vetiver Extraordinaire
Authorized Retailer, there's a lot, but to name a few:
I've ordered a sample from them and didn't have an issue.
+1. I stopped dealing with TPC since a couple years ago. I got my shipment but it was missing a sample. I got a slip saying it was back-ordered. So I waited 3-4 weeks and then decided to contact them...
I agree with OP, not my cup of tea.
I sampled this a few years ago and I remember it being very sour smelling. I did get the tea note everyone talks about, but it was like an amped up sour...
I like his extraits, particularly Vetiver and Neroli; and feel that they are worth it at the price FIF is willing to sell it. With the exchange rate, they're going for around $330 USD. I wouldn't pay...
Creed Royal Oud
Very difficult to just choose six. Here it is, in no particular order:
Creed Silver Mountain Water
Roja Parfums Vetiver Extrait
Amouage Jubilation XXV
Tom Ford Oud Wood
I've tried both, but ended up getting a split of Juby. Both are pretty good frags, but I like Juby much more. IMO, it's more wearable and versatile than MR.
Roja Parfums Vetiver Extrait
Very nice! One of the most hard to find Creeds out there.
From your list, the only one I've tried is Frederic Malle Bigarade Concentree, but IMO it's the most natural smelling citrus scent. It smells like I'm literally wearing orange peel/juice.
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille
As with any fragrance, depends on where you wear it. If it's in a public setting, I'd say 3-4 sprays of VIW is just fine. If it was in a work/office setting, three should still be fine, but for me,...
I, too, am interested in the Creed Neiman Marcus "exclusive". Is there any further information on this online? This is the first time I'm hearing about it.
Sorry for going on a tangent.
The best discount I can find from a reputable site is First in Fragrance and Essenza Nobile.
Thanks for the feedback guys. I thought the Roja would win hands down. Both great juice nonetheless.
That's great news. It would probably hit the grey market about a year after release. I believe that's how long it took for Aventus, maybe even sooner.
Regarding the name, I still much prefer...
I found the two noticeably different, but did share some similarities. I thought the Neroli Extrait had more depth and I liked that one more.
Which do you prefer and why?
Also, are there any...
