The beards do play a role in scent dissemination. They urinate on them to attract the females. I read somewhere that the urine contains pheromones, and I used some of the beard in my tincture just in...
I have goats and the stinkiest part is on the top of the head between the horns. Here is what Anya McCoy says:http://anyasgarden.blogspot.com/2008/07/getting-your-goat-perfume-musk-that-is.html
Some of the expert members could probably just look at the formula and tell you what is wrong.
Now that is a review!
That was a fantastic review! I agree with almost everything except the part about the amber being over-pronounced. But then, I'm an amber fiend.
If you have access, 190 proof Everclear may also be a good choice. It is more available to me than perfumer's alcohol.

Mumsy, so you tincture ambergris as a lump instead of grinding it up as some do?
Can you name a spectacular amber?
The palette that you gravitate towards ultimately is based on your own subjective tastes. No one can pick what YOU like. I understand the desire to have a blueprint to start out with, but a list of...
IFRA allows 0.1% oakmoss in the total volume of the final product. In the sticky at the top of the DIY section, Chris says all of the percentages apply to the finished product....
I'd love some! Where can I buy it?
Check out Ambre 114 by Histoire de Parfums. I also have the two Lutens you mentioned and I think Ambre 114 is definitely a contender.
Eden Botanicals has high quality products. All of their oils are suitable for perfumery. The distinction is that the absolutes and some of the oils are not suitable for aromatherapy, and so are...
Sometimes a compliment isn't really a compliment. When someone uses way too much fragrance, it will prompt a comment in the guise of a "compliment".
I'm one of the lucky winners. After a quick sniff I can say that the blackcurrent note is definitely the main player, sweetened with vanilla and spiced with pink pepper. Though not listed in...
Likes: 1725 Casanova by Histoire de Parfums
Diavolo by Antonio Banderas
Dislikes: Jubilation XXV by Amouage

She thinks these two smell...
I see your point. According to my calculations, 10 ml of a 3% tincture would cost $6.22 if you bought 4 grams from them and put it in your own ethanol.
Thanks for the link DragonN. I see where the NZ site recommends the amount of tinctured to use: "For every 15 grams of perfume base; the perfumer should add 11 grams of 3% ambergris tincture."
If you were to make a 10% tincture with 4 grams of ambergris, then you would need 36 grams of ethanol, or 45.6 ml. This would make a total volume of approximately 50 ml. Does that sound right? How...
No...but since you mention it I looked it up. Luca Turin does it by squirting 200 "harmless" viruses up the nose (yuck!) and using different frequencies of light to create the fragrance....
By 2050 fragrances will be totally electronic, transmitted to the chip embedded in everyone's brain. You will be able to pay for, and download any scent imaginable, unencumbered by IFRA restrictions....
Thank you. I sent them an inquiry.
Yes, your music description makes perfect sense. I'm finding that perfumery is full of analogies.
I can't stand it any longer. I love the Moonlight Sonata. Where can I buy a little piece?
Thank you for this very complete and thoughtful reply. The idea that CO2 oils and absolutes are different in their volatility makes perfect sense. I suppose that a completely different material could...
How can a single material be used as a top, middle and base note? I've seen patchouli listed in all three positions and one of Chris Bartlett's perfumes, Artemis, has absinthe in all three spots in...
I have PA's Sandalwood accord. It smells toxic, just like the strong vinyl smell when you unwrap a new shower curtain. In fairness, that is my impression of it smelled alone. Maybe it would be better...
Do it. It can't be as bad as civet.
evinick, can you please give an update to your mid note search? I, for one, am very curious if you found anything that really "clicked".
Would you believe there were only 13 fragrances launched in 1954, none of them masculine?
I'm guessing that a fragrance that was twice as strong would have more projection.
That would be a very easy and interesting experiment to do!
Have you asked anyone else if they can smell it?
After what seemed like hours of searching, I finally found a chart that spells it out. This chart says that "Perfumery products with flammable solvents" are prohibited to be shipped by air and can...
I would like to revise my answer...While I have received several perfumes via USPS, it is one of the items on their HAZMAT list: https://www.usps.com/ship/can-you-ship-it.htm?showtab=2
"If it fits, it ships". The US Postal Service ships all of the products you named. You should be fine.

Please, how is the date determined? checkcosmetic.net gives a different result. I'd like to check mine (1060).
Just curious if your opinion has changed over the last four months. I'm getting ready to place an order with Eden and would like some feedback if you can provide it.
Bookmarked. Thank you, this is a fantastic resource.
Just this week I received Frankincense - Oman from Eden Botanicals and to my very newbie nose it matches your description to a "T". I wore a tiny bit of a 10% dilution to bed and it was still...
If I was going to Mars, and because of weight restrictions could only take one, it would be Sycomore.
I dab MKK and spray Borneo 1834 and Ambre Sultan. I had been spraying Chergui, but today took the sprayer off and screwed on the little round cap.
I don't buy the idea that using the splash...
Kyoto. It fits the definition that you set forth as well as the idea that Minimalist means a scent that is spare.
I tried the original back in the '90s based on a review on thecologneguy.com. I was in search of "the best cologne", so I picked Egoiste Platinum based on it's five star review.
It had a fantastic...
May I ask how old is the bottle?
So far, so good!
If Gucci Pour Homme II is discontinued, then why is it listed on Gucci's website?
I don't understand this comment. I'm wearing Ambre Sultan right now.
Another vote for this monstrosity.
I was frequently told by a Dutch lady at work that I smelled like a boudoir, regardless of what I was wearing.
The poll allows a vote for more than one choice. I picked Dzonkha and Fou D'Absinth, with the edge going to Donkha.
Sounds kinky.
What is funny is if you google Deutsche Cabana the first hit is http://www.dolcegabbana.de/
I think you will love it. We both have several incense centric frags and L'air Du Desert Marocain will fit you like a glove.
Gendarme disappears somewhere between the nozzle and my skin.
1. Chanel Sycomore
2. Terre d'Hermes
3. Guerlain Vetiver
Was the pump primed? Maybe Fragrancenet wraps all returned fragrances and puts them back in stock.
Spray it on your pecker!
You need 500 posts to post there. I'm in the same boat.
My impression was that of a spicy fragrance too. In fact, I have seen many reviews that call it "the rich man's version of Old Spice".
If I had never tried Sycomore, I would really like Encre Noire.
For my first few bottles I subscribed to the "more ml for the buck" theory. Then I realized that the 50 ml bottles fit in the allotted space much better and 40+ bottles represent a lifetiime supply...
1. Jubilation XXV
2. Habit Rouge
8. Terre d'Hermes
Mostly from Fragrancenet, but also a lot through Amazon which uses a number of vendors. Usually a fragrance can be purchased from Amazon and fulfilled by Fragrancenet cheaper than buying the same...
And the winner is...?
Applying it to your "moustache area" sounds like it would guarantee olfactory fatigue.
I bought three bottles of GIT when Walgreens had a double discount. Now I have two too many.
No one has picked it, so there's not much hope for it winning, but I love it: Sycomore
I have all three and if I lost them and could only replace one I would choose Assoluta.
You could sell your blood and be able to afford a few more bottles each year.
ScentedMonkey on eBay has 4 ounce OV listed for $82.73, free shipping. It is a "buy it now".
Ambre Sultan. Yum!
Alas, I just got the "out of stock" email. :(
It was on the website yesterday morning at 8:30 and by 9:00 it had disappeared.
I ordered a 1.7 ounce Tea for Two for $32.51.
After my order confirmation I got a "Your order is currently in our warehouse" email. Does this mean that shipping my order is a sure thing?
I'm only familiar with six of your scents. Of the ones I know, Platinum Egoiste would be my choice.
I stuck a pencil, eraser end, into the cap and pried out the ring, then bent it slightly and pressed it back on the bottle with the end of a car key. It has stayed put so far.
Yes, I had to fix mine. The collar comes off of the bottle and becomes stuck in the cap.
Every time I wear JubilationXXV, my wife says it smells like body odor.
I was going to say "who cares?", but you beat me to it.
I wonder how long the 20% discount code TP52C will last...
Excellent choice! Sycomore is my desert island frag.
Same here. My sample was a 2010 decant and the FB was born in 2011.
So, it's your fault! ;)
How about Acqua di Parma Colonia?
For a cool morning in NC I chose Jubilation XXV.
If I could have only one perfume for the rest of my life I would be happy if it was Sycomore.
I wore Memoir Man for the first time yesterday. Seven hours later I was sitting at home with the windows open. I thought I smelled a skunk. I asked my wife if she smelled it, but she didn't.
Did you still like it?
No aluminium in this crystal. http://maxcdn.nexternal.com/crystaldeo/images/30003-low%20res1.jpg
I've used it for the past 10 years. Not an antiperspirant, but as a deodorant it is unsurpassed....
That sounds plausible, and I admit I have shaken mine from time to time. How about decanting some into a container with a lot of surface area to create some super GIT?
If your wardrobe changes for a certain day, why is it so farfetched to presume a fragrance could also change?
I don't know about the rest of the world, but in many workplaces in the US there is a more lighthearted atmosphere on Fridays. Many businesses have a "casual Friday" dress code. The mood is relaxed...
It's a Sycomore day.
