I'm moving this thread into the Shopping forum.
Really interesting to hear about Balenciaga being the first, not M7. What did he say about Wonderoud? I thought it was a quite meh fragrance from CdG.
I agree that thread thematically belongs here, it had just slipped my mind. I'll move it over here.
Hi, I think you can post it in the Shopping forum: http://www.basenotes.net/forums/19-Internet-Shopping-and-City-Shopping-Guides
So these are not part of Parfumerie Generale?
First of all, the discussion is moving away from the topic. Second, discussing moderation is not an appropriate topic. This thread is a lightning rod for those who are disgruntled with moderator...
Never heard of the brand, thanks for telling me, I'll get them into the directory. None of the scents sound Norwegian-themed, but how could they be, we don't exactly have an abundance of native...
The Extrait line is very good, I think, and my favourite so far is Bergamot. It's quite heavy and ornate, and if you enjoy the classic Lutens then you'll like it, and it's as unisex as the Lutens.
It will be interesting to hear if Le Galion has (somewhat) faithfully recreated their scents, or if they smell very modern.
Room 1015 is getting hyped as something new and daring, but the notes...
Split closed, so I'm closing the thread.
Neither funny or clever. We will be in touch.
So Lauder dropped him. I guess after, what, 12 flankers of Unforgivable, they just couldn't squeeze any more profit out of the line. Parlux feels a like a step down; now his stablemates are Paris...
The notes kinda skews to the masculine side, was that your impression too?
This sounds like it could be a nice overview lecture: "How the West Fell in Love with Oud".
Are these things streamed?
It's an interesting premise for a discussion, if handled sensitively and with respect for your fellow poster. I've deleted eight of the most hot-headed comments, please continue.
Italian names are pretty straightforward, next time do one on Arabic brands! :)
Shame about the name change, I thought Baby's Head was cute!
I think you are being far too kind for her current period. Edgy niche like ELdO? No, no, no.
She is more like Elizabeth Arden; in dire need of a new pillar fragrance, but nothing sticks. So instead...
Another well executed split. Well done! Since the split is completed I am locking the thread as the request of the OP.
Going to move the thread to Just Starting Out.
If this was a real case, would my cranky comments be visible to everyone, after the completion of the transaction? Would I have an option to delete or edit them?
No, I wasn't taken to another page, I think?
I went back and clicked on the order and now I get to the the page saying "The order is now closed", and I get a link to the Feedback page.
In the form of a PM? No, nothing so far.
Seems to work fine!
After confirming I received the bottle I got this message at the top of my screen:
It's in the directory, and it's quite nice: http://www.basenotes.net/ID26133708.html
Now, ease up on the sex talk.
A slightly meandering thread like this is fine. I am just putting down a warning sign along the road and hope you all see where not to go.
There are some wayy off topic posts about prostitution that I am going to remove. And inkling towards discussing religion is a fine way to shut down the whole thread.
What was the topic again?
Instead of the sticky, we want buyers and sellers to use the Feedback system to rate the transactions. If used properly and consistently, we will have accurate and up to date profiles of who's not...
The thread took on a life of its own :)
And it was kept open to give people a chance to clarify a couple of issues, but I think we are at a point where we can soon close it.
The law is unclear. A big company could initiate a lawsuit anyway, knowing that it's not going to go anywhere, but they could sustain the case simply to drain resources and money from the site.
This discussion is better suited for the General forum. I am moving the thread there.
The legal issues didn't go away. The site can be sued for allowing the sale of decants. However small the distinctions are between selling a decant or a split portion, in this case the semantics...
Nothing in set in stone, we will look over the split rules once again to see if they need to be amended but I think the basic rules that we have established work well enough.
There is a reason...
Why so grouchy? Stache was surprisingly lucid in my opinion :)
I feel that this thread was just about harvesting information and not conductive to any sort of discussion or interaction with the OP, therefore I am closing it.
It's not a virus, it's a beta test of a new feature :)
You want female respondents only?
I think there need to be more dialogue in a split thread: the splitter confirming splits are full, packages are sent, participants confirming that items are received and are in good condition. And...
Hi Rajaa and welcome! I am going to move your thread to the DIY forum, as I think it's better suited there.
I didn't think Herault's was that terrible, but it was colourless, smelt sort of stem-like, green and....that was it. I think the reason I can't hate it is that if was so shapeless. Is that really...
The Loc Dong is just patchouli on me, and nothing but patchouli. It's a note I actually like but this has no depth or richness to it. Spraying it on paper, I do get something else, maybe it's a hint...
Having smelled my way through the set my conclusion is: 1 good, 3 sort of okay, and 7 nondescript. I didn't expect fully finished compositions, as that was not the purpose of the project, and none of...
Mumsy, I have worn "Dominique Ropion" for about 30 minutes, and I get a spiced/soapy rose. I don't care much for rose-dominated scents, so this one is not for me.
Please fix it back.
I got my set and am slowly sniffing my way through them. I don't agree with Deadidol that the set is a disaster, but then I think my taste in fragrances is much more commercial than his. These are my...
Since the split is completed, I am closing the thread.
I am going to quote from the always excellent Code of Conduct:
We realise that many members may have businesses which may be of interest to our visitors but please remember that people come here...
We are following up.
Your rule is very reasonable. A participant that holds up a split can, and should, be given a negative feedback in the Feedback system.
It could also be that the juice in the sample vial has deteriorated. Black Orchid has an aggressive, opulent opening, but it dries down to something far less spectacular. Maybe it wasn't stored...
She is asking for suggestions for masculine-slanted musks; it's the right forum to post in.
Didn't she relocate to London? She should be hired as a Basenotes contributor!
Jean-Claude Ellena became the in-house perfumer at Hermès in 2004, though he had a hand in creating fragrances for the house even before that time. It's rumored (though not confirmed) that Le Jardin...
Very inappropriate thread, closing it now.
"New York based niche perfume house and boutique Aedes de Venustas will launch their fifth opus from May 2015 called Palissandre d'Or".
Alberto Morillas is the perfumer...
Hi David, still having problems?
Can you try this. Go to this page, there is a picture of Tutti Fleur d'Oranger there: ...
The thread is from 2012, it might not be relevant for the member to do the trade anymore.
Moving the thread to Just Starting Out
You cracked the code!
Things that can go wrong: The image is so large that Basenotes won't allow it to be displayed. The image is in a format that Basenotes do not recognise. Then you have to find...
You must be careful to use the bracket code exactly like this:
It looks like you forgot to close the first bracket, and the / is missing from the last bracket.
You can also do this:
How it works:
Right-click on a picture you want to use, you will get a menu with one option saying something like...

Is it a full moon, or something you guys ate? Do I have to remind you that we have a Code of Conduct? It's right here.
I am moving the thread to the Internet Shopping and City Shopping Guides
Yeah, you guys really can't help yourselves. Thread closed.
From Grain de Musc:
What do perfumers get up to when you cut them loose in the candy store – i.e. the lab’s best, newest, most cutting-edge materials – with neither brief nor budget crunch?
You guys can't help yourself. I am tempted to start deleting comments and handing out warnings, but I will give you all a little time to self-correct, edit out the worst and get back on track.
I am closing the thread temporarily to do a clean up after all the bickering.
Edit: Thread open again.
Kumquat, how fantastically well organised you are! I will try to copy your system :)
Bill, bshell, you both have had your say. Skip each others posts, or use the Ignore function from now on. Now, let's move on.
If we are doing tags I hope we can get in place a ready-made list of controlled vocabulary so people use "citrus" and not "citric"or "citrusy" or other variations. If the tagging and the terms used...
I think that would work well.
I really like the "Top Picks" page of Luckyscent (Top Citrus, Top Floral, Top Foody and so on), it would be nice to have a section like that here too, where lists...
Browsing for new brands to put in the Basenotes directory, I came across Roots Rose Radish, an all natural brand that has been around since 2013, I think. I'm not a fan of solid perfume but the...
This thread is getting very, very long; I think it's time we start a new one. Please continue in thread 7.
I am moving yesterdays posts from Splashfrag and Hednic into the new thread to get it...
Part 6 was getting very long, let's keep going with part 7.
Here are the archives:
Post a Picture of Your Scents - Edition I
Post a Picture of Your Scents - Edition II

Since you guys seem hellbent on bringing politics into the thread I am closing it.
My understanding is that Jelk and Wasser cosigned the first version, but that Wasser has been responsible for the later launches.

Still many missing from Parfum d'Empire. Here are some. Press shots from google image.

That's a little harsh. According to figures from the NPD Group (National Purchase Diary), Guerlain had the third most selling fragrance in France last year. You might not like what Wasser makes but...
Founder and perfumer Aleksandr Perevertaylo says:
"I was born in Kakhovka, in the south of Ukraine. This is practically the steppe, blooming in spring, summer and fall dry and very aromatic.
It sounds intensely green with galbanum, violet leaves and grass as the major notes. Maybe too sharply green for me.
I don't understand the need to disparage threads that others clearly enjoy. Save yourself some grief and simply skip the content that you find irritating.
I agree with R-Man, you should ask the knowledgeable people in the DIY about this. I am moving the thread there.
Moving the thread to the Fragrance Game forum
James, Cuir de R'Eve has been added: http://www.basenotes.net/ID26145382.html
I will add the one from Iunx. But don't forget that my entries, just like yours, will have to wait in line for Grant...
I am bumping this thread, since it has been used as an example of a successful way to discuss fragrance within a religious context.
I was a subscriber but I had doubts even when signing up that it would survive as a paper magazine. Still, I was hoping it would have a life as an e-zine, but it wasn't to be.
Hednic, I can't...
"German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen have commissioned Berlin-based niche fragrance house Frau Tonis Parfum to create a perfume inspired by the scent of car fuel."
Since the last 6 (deleted) comments were all about baiting muslims and nothing to do with the topic, this thread has, as many predicted, been taken over by the trolls. It's closing time.
Not even close to being funny. Thread closed.
Since the OP reposted his question in the DIY forum I'm going to close this thread.
I think your question is better suited for the DIY forum. I'm going to move the thread over there.
I agree that we are reaching an end point. The posts are getting repetitive, and it's usually at this point that things tend to take a wrong turn, with someone posting provocative or argumentative...
WHat are you talking about? It's on page 1 on the Male forum.
I think Ken sums it up nicely.
Bigsly, there is not a Big Book of Rules available for the moderators, we just try to do the right thing when a situation arises. I don't know why you got a warning...
I understand, so guys, tread lightly now.
Nice experiment but since it's starting to take potshots at the..hmm faith, I am going to have close it.
