Under 25 for me
A*Men without question
Used to like it, not a fan anymore. I can't get past the super synthetic notes
Only tried 3.
Tobacco Vanille used to be a huge favourite, but I can't help but get sickly sweet christmas candle vibes from it now.
Black Orchid was nice, but I mostly got sweet chocolate out...
Filles en Aiguilles
well, I just saw a picture of you hehe, 34.
off by about 10 years lomaniac, 21.
it smelled like bugspray when I tried it.
1 spray, max of two in an office.
oooh, fun stuff.
Green Irish Tweed
don't really have a third
ooooh, thanks for the lesson, I had no idea lol, will stick to the fridge method like you said.
I did this with Rive Gauche Pour Homme.
Filled a jug with water, submerged the Rive Gauche bottle slowly until it stopped sinking. The line where it stopped sinking is how much liquid you have...
You're right. It's definitely a fragrance that is versatile all year round, I was just speaking relatively in regards to Grey Vetiver.
Nope! I went down to the local Sephora, sprayed it on my...
I'm not sure why they called this "Grey" Vetiver, I'm finding this a very invigorating, bright scent for myself. I never thought I'd love a grapefruit based scent this much, and the vetiver and woods...
damn, OP is THAT guy.
a fascinating idea
Probably Beyond Love By Kilian.
I think I was hell bent on finding a floral fragrance to wear, just for something different.
I'm not sure what I saw in this fragrance a year ago, but now it's...
You won't get anything accurate for the poll, a LOT more people have simply tried Cool Water vs. the other one.
Yeah, I do
Not sure when you tried Kouros, as I personally feel they've neutered it, but a bottle I tried from 5-6 years ago had a multi-faceted personality. Clean one moment, dirty and honey sweet civet the...
Totally disagree with the bolded. I can see why someone wouldn't like them, but they're not hard to wear.
Thanks to freewheelingvagabond for his suggestions!
I tested out Eau Sauvage by Dior and I absolutely love it. There's something different in there that I haven't smelled before, it definitely...
I feel oudh in itself is not physically or mentally addictive as a substance, but the act of collecting oud and perfume overall can definitely be addictive. It's the same idea as people who are...
oops, should've read that then, thank you for the info!
is that the reformulated tribute?
I don't cosign this. Gift certificates are like money.....except they're restricted on where you can even use them.
Well here's my updated sample list, likely the final one, won't be adding any more to it.
Yes, I definitely dislike TdH due to the synthetic smell, it reminds me of orange dish soap. I also wasn't...
Thank you very much, this is exactly what I was looking for, and has formed my next sampling run!
/thread in one response!
The only workhorses I enjoy a lot are L'eau d'issey Pour Homme, and Rive Gauche Pour Homme.
I also have By Kilian's Beyond Love, and Diptyque's Philosykos, but I find myself reaching for these...
Another review of an Al Shareef oud oil
This one is somewhere inbetween uplifting and mellow, a good balance.
Normally I don't like the greener ouds, but I enjoy this one due to...
Same to you Bengal Roots, continue having fun on your journey.
Good luck mate, and thanks
Here are my own thoughts on Al Shareef's Ta'ifi Rose Oil
Ward Al Ta'if
Upon first application, I got an unfamiliar waxy smell, it smelled like what I imagine literal rose petals to smell...
My thoughts on some Al Shareef Oudh oils. Ghaliyah is an attar that's focused more on musk/civet than oud.
Woah. This is so intense, warm, dirty.
Backstory, my first...
Taha mentioned organic oils being a possibility for AA, but not enough people were interested?
Personally, I loved something like Aroha Kyaku from EO, and the price was reasonable as well,...
Now I'm getting hyped up.
My Kemewahan is off a bit. It's developed a sour, sweaty topnote that lasts about 20 minutes.
Oh, I should add that it's a sample vial, and I haven't been diligent in preventing...
Hmm, it almost sounds like Homage attar by Amouage.
Hahahahaha, this reminds me of Air Jordans selling out instantly, and people instantly flipping them for higher prices.
woah, mind giving me a name? I'm intrigued.
I typically go for smallest size, or 50ml bottles. While I may get a better deal by going with a bigger bottle, I realized I'd never 'finish' using my collection in my lifetime, so to me those deals...
Is it easily available in boutiques where you live? I've never smelled it on anyone where I live, probably due to the lack of availability in stores.
Now the perceived gender of this fragrance...
I'm curious if anyone else's Agar Attar ended up changing.
For me, the dry, woody(sandalwood?) note ended up becoming more prominent, over the warm, herbal sweetness.
Hmm, I don't understand.
@littlecrowgirl I think it happens to prevent double posting.
Yeah, I would say this is correct, and another reason why I'll never blind buy oud! I'm thankful for the option to sample things.
I popped open the vial again this morning, no sweaty note. That was odd to say the least.
decided to revisit Kemewahan....
I think I may have contaminated my sample or something with my own body oil, the opening smells like a sweaty, pungent gym bag now . It did fade, but I...
This thread is a good read.
If it's just comments from people on the oud forums, bigbloke...
maybe this is what you're looking for?
never did end up trying it though, posted it earlier a few months ago.
;) that same day I wore the most oud I've ever worn.
Oh ok. You have any ideas on what to use for decanting? It'd be pretty easy to lose oil
Hmm, I think I may be losing some of my Agar Attar to evaporation?
Anyone have any experience with the gold coloured bottle with the pillars? I feel like it isn't providing a seal, not sure what...
Keme vs. Aroha
Sillage: Kemewahan has monstrous sillage that lasts for hours, my sister mentioned the bathroom smelled like Kemewahan, even though I was last in there 2 hours ago! Aroha Kyaku is...
Kemewahan for me.
It's so deep, dark, rich, sweet, spicy, and not the easiest to wear.
It's dope that EO is also offering to fully replace your lost order, great customer service.
I was extremely wary from the beginning, with TWIS, EO, AA. I'm happy that I haven't...
Received Aroha Kyaku as well.
Customs did end up opening it this time, and I had to pay duties. Not too much though, just $17.
This one will take some time to write a review on. It's definitely...
Enjoy! I ended up ordering it as well, it's a great deal. I hope Keme is still around by the end of summer.
tried a sample of Sultan's Solace.
All I can say is wow, it smells like oud, but not any oud i've smelled before.
It has a warm, airy freshness to it that is really comforting to me.
I think it's fine to call someone out if you think they're regurgitating marketing.
Maybe I'm mistaken, but I feel like most people here are pretty friendly and wouldn't take it personally.
Tried a few others.
Taw Twin Yatanar
I really don't like this. It smells like musty vegetation to me, and is my least favourite oud I've tried so far. It isn't offensive to me, just mediocre.
Met up with iris&oud to chat about oud!
She knew her stuff for pretty much all the different kinds of ouds, and showed me some ouds that had some more animallic aspects to them that I enjoyed. I...
That's unfortunate that you had a shitty experience with a dishonest buyer Sekohnis.
I don't understand paypal's line of thinking, especially even if you send a tracking number. Is there anything...
I think the AA website sums it up best. The launchpad for oud. Personally I think it's one of the best bang-for-your buck deals out there in regards to ouds and attars. Very smooth and warm...
That was an entertaining read, to me it seemed like the Rube Goldberg version of an oud distillation ;)
Prince Mishaal Ben Abdul Aziz Blend by ASQ
It's from the "One collection" from TWIS.
I really enjoy this one.
I definitely had some preconceptions about ASQ being overpriced or of lower...
I actually had no idea Bois was distilled from the same wood as Keme, I should've ordered a sample of that one too! I might try that one in the spring when Fleur et Bois comes out as...
Trying Ahmwei-Do right now.
Hmmmm. It says it's a Burmese oud, and I also tried Shwe Myitkyina(Burmese).
Ahmwei-Do definitely has a very distinct whisky note to it, and feels very warm, yet...
Awesome, thank you goud! Enjoy oud yusuf
Alright, so ordering from TWIS and AA seems to be fine now, but I'm still wary and unclear on EO.
Has anyone successfully ordered from EO(post-regulation) in Canada/USA without having trouble...
Ahh, decisions decisions.
Aroha Kyaku is running low, and I'd never blind buy, but if it has that smokey dark chocolate note, then I'm quite split.
Ahhh ok, I see.
I'll probably pass on Cantik Candan, it would likely sell for even higher than the original price. The price range was much higher than Kemewahan.
I'm still glad I decided to...
I'm absolutely loving Kemewahan. I didn't know what to expect from the 'liquid wood' descriptions, but I think something like this is what I was looking for right from the start. The dark, rich, yet...
and ASAQ's Prince Mishaal Ben Abdul Aziz Blend
might get to some reviews in the coming weeks.
Just taking quick whiffs of the vials, I think I'm going to enjoy...
Received my TWIS order in Canada. No customs/border issues at all!
I do this fairly often, or whenever I feel like it. Sometimes I just don't feel like wearing something when going out, other times I feel like only wearing scents at home.
only ever tried sova, love it
I find myself reaching for L'eau D'issey Pour Homme and Rive Gauche Pour Homme the most.
I find RGPH to be the most versatile though. It's great in both winter AND summer for me.
Damn good question. Has Ensar Oud said anything about all of this? All I saw was that he wasn't affected, but I'd still be wary
Only tried the newer one, and it reminded me of hairspray, didn't like it.
I remember scoffing at this thread when I first saw it, no way could I spend $500 in a year.
Then I realized I was full of bunny shit!
Rive Gauche Pour Homme. It's a different kind of fresh/clean, but I love it.
I used to love it a lot. Still enjoy it, but not as much. I really do feel it's very synthetic and cloying lately.
I've only smelled the reformulation. Smelled like sugary gasoline.
Hmmmm, so does all of this only pertain to imports that had happened after these new regulations?
I say this because TWIS website has everything back up from Agar Aura.
A fair bit I'd say. Cinnamon and other spices are the big smells for me, I often smelled them around the house.
My earliest memory I recall also involves drinking the richest cup of chai I had...
I disagree with the OP, I've gone with both designer and niche, but the lines are pretty blurred nowadays.
Tom Ford is a designer, but the Private Blend line is more exclusive and "niche"-like.
nothing, too vague
Damn. Iris, definitely let us know if you end up getting your Pencerehan.
On the bright side to all of this, I suppose I'll have more $$$ over the summer time..
He was wrong in regards to the fully automatic weapon comparison. I think the spirit of his post still stands though. A bit of fragrance oil really isn't hurting anybody, especially oud oil. It's...
"As for the sale of wild-harvested agarwood (i.e. wood, not oil), then it is now strictly prohibited by U.S. customs with no exceptions"
"If everything works out, we could reopen our doors to...
the e-mail/newsletter by agar aura said USDA rules have changed. Anything that is used orally or on your skin, must require USDA/FDA approval.
At best: Agar Aura is reopened US/CAD...
Mother of shit. This sums up how I feel about all of this.
In terms of how many times I wore it, or how much volume I've used?
l'eau d'Issey PH
Hmm, I do feel fatigued a lot, a bit moody, and my hair is thinning. I use tea tree oil every morning, and do use lavender fragrances.
I'm not sure if those two are the cause of the above though.
"You know your an Ouddict when you when you go on the websites AA or EO several times a day ,and ou read the sames reviews
Great reviews Jimmy, Sulaiman III sounds right up my alley
