Ahhhh.......... I think that bottle goes beyond ugly..... kinda creeps me out.
Just to clarify, I do intend to give out 3ml to each participant to keep or pass on as they wish. I figured on giving out up to a third of the bottle as I will never use the whole thing and I...
I would like to conduct a blind sniff sample pass of a vintage circ. 70's(?) bottle. It is listed in the BN directory, however, it has no reviews or threads discussing...
M is for Mindless Alphabet Frag name.......
just kidding.... M is for My Summer Life by Aramis. Actually better than the reviews.
I just wanted to post that I recieved my package and will be posting the pass tomorrow (sorry for the delay Hayven). I have purposely been avoiding this thread and any other...
I thought it was funny.
S is for Straw Hat by Faberge
Fantastic!! Will do. Thanks.
I love perfum naps. I've been exploring classic and vintage perfumes for a bit now and have found that this a favorite way to experiment. I usually dab a few times on the back of my...
Q is for Quimbaya by Jean Pascal
I'm interested. I've been wanting to try Jo Malone but just haven't made it around yet.
Fantastic! I have a vintage of Woods of Windsor-Evangiline(?) that is a wonderfully realistic wild rose soliflore. I like to lightly layer it with strong powerhouses to add a floral touch. I've...
Ulysee by Vicky Tiel. Amazingly bad. Smells like some powdery mash of artifical fruit flavorings. I've pulled it out every now and then to see if I get it, but always the same reaction. I'd like...
Nice artical. Thank You.
As to the fragrance, I have heard of it earlier and thought it would be rather cheesy based on the write up. This artical, however, has me actually looking forward totrying it.
AKKK!!! Im sorry. I own both but definately prefer Aramis. Aramis is rich and luxurious leather to me. DN is spicy and nice but I think I just may be too familiar with it from my younger days.
Does sound interesting and that bottle looks awesome! Wonder what it looks and feels like in real life.
Yup! Might even try this one. Haven't tryed any Boss other than Number One and Bottled.
........a man without limits.......? I like some of Nautica's scents but none make me think this.
P for Passions - Elizabeth Taylor:tongue:
Thats easy. Skinny tie, white shirt, skinny lapeled sport jacket with the sleeves pushed up, stone washed jeans with the pant legs cuffed up and hightop adidas sneakers!! (....oh yeah, and 10...
In my experience, you probably just need more time with it for your nose to learn the scent. Early in my collecting I had similar problems. Some scents just didnt register for a while.
My personal favorite is Woods of Windsor's Eglantine (wild rose). It smells exactly like wild roses that grew where I grew up. It is perfectly linear and long-lasting for this type of use.
Have to go with Voyage as this is becoming classic (for an aquatic). I believe it may one day be looked on as a benchmark in the aquatic genre. (ducks).
Of course there are better aquatics than...
I remember hearing about this in a basenotes press release quite some time ago, although I cant find it now. It seems that there was to be a series of four although I am not completely sure.
Did anyone see this?
This was on television tonight and I was perusing basenotes and I happened to look up when a character mentioned "unisex cologne". Apparently a character on the show was...
I think it is good for any time and not at all like AdG.
I like both and own Fahrenheit, but would recommend that a younger person (OP) start with something lighter/more versitile for the summer.
Maybe one of the Tommy Bahamas or Crome...
I consider Obsession to be to heavy for daytime summer. i think of it as a more cold weather and/or evening scent.
I have both and love both, but over all, i have to go with Kouros. It stands alone.
oddly enough for me it is a $5 bottle of Rocawear IX that I got off the wallyworld clearance rack. I do like it well enough, I just never would've thought it to bea compliment getter.
Montana parfum d'Homme (red box)for me!
:2vrolijk_08::2vrolijk_08:Green Jeans - Versace
One Man Show and One Man Show Gold Edition:happy:
I'd wear the Issay as it is a pleasent with out risk of being to strong and conflicting with the smells of the meal. Part of the enjoyment of a good meal for me is the smells. Something that is too...
?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? 4 sprays of each? Kouros last 14+ hrs on me with just 2 sprays.
How about.... Giorgio Beverly Hills and One Man Show?
I second this. I also dont lean to Creeds much but Bois du Portugal stands out.
Versace Green Jeans and Bogart Eau Fresh are my two soapy frags. The Eau Fresh is a sort of musty soapy scent and the Green Jeans is a green soapy scent.
Cerrutti - Image Fresh Energy
Baldissarini - Del Mar
Tommy Bahama - Set Sail South Seas
and........ +1 for New West (gotta have it).
ahahahaha..... La Male Sport?
Interesting... I'm glad masculine parfums are coming into style. I'm looking forward to this.
Really? I have and love Pino and have been wanting to try Granville.
i got 100mls of Nautica Classic, Blue, and Voyage for 8$ each @ Walmart on a Christmas sale in 2010 on a sale. I like the Voyage but I havent spent enough time with the other two to know them (too...
Baldessarini Del Mar for 10$ @ the new Ross's here. Bought it just for the hellofit and was actually quite impressed.
love Fahrenheit! Never thought of a woman wearing it .... that's very intriguing. I blind bought it on a killer deal @ Sam's Club ($25 for 50ml)
i'd like to try it but i still cant smell Terre - i've been trying it off and on for over a year now and all i get is a pleasant scent for about 10-15 min then nothing. my wife can smell it on me...
Interesting read. Thanks forthe post.
Agreed here. I have small bottles of all four and they dont fail to disappoint. The green one is okay but thats about it.
+1 on the Pino!
Also a few of my favorites: Rochas-Moustache Concentree, Roger & Gallet-Extra Vermielle, and Monsieur Givenchey.
One Man Show!!!! cant beat it.
I'm inclined to believe that this is one of those scents that are prone to easily induce olfactory fatigue in the user. When I first got my bottle (script font by the way), I wore 4-6 sprays in a...
HAhaha!!!! I was thinking the same..........
Gotta love the Zino! Never tried the Ikon
Have to go with the YSL. The Nautica is fine but everything smells like it now so it seems rather generic. I agree with the above poster as to Ed Hardy smelling like a mess. How about...
Im planning for Black Orchid and a bottle of vintage Les Copaines.
Nemo. Merry Christmas all!!!
Get them both! The more the merrier.
Yatagan!, Roger & Gallet Extra Vieille, Cartier - Kiss of the Dragon.
Im in the 5-7 catagory normally with 2-3 scents a day. Sometimes up to 25 sprays and 5-6 scents on a leisure day.
:tongue:All I can say is BLUH!!!!! Maybe my 4yr old daughter will like it.
Good news! Hope it's true to the original.
Santana hands down. Cuba Gold as a second.
uh-oh... welcome to the basenotes side. Soon you will be buying minis of perfumes that you know you will never wear, just to smell them. It just goes on from there.
ELdO's Carogne. It's supposed to smell of rotting florals I believe. I like the smell although it is rather "funereal".
Interesting observations. I have a sample decant of this myself. I do like it, however in small doses. A few dabs on the back of the wrist to sniff for a few hours is great. i just cant wear it...
That is a very interesting bit of trivia concerning "round robin". Hope you enjoy your package - I know I would!
As to your Oct 2nd post.. I try to revisit as many scents in as many seasons as...
I've recently acquired a small bottle of vintage Ciara Femme Fatale and I was wondering if anyone had any information regarding this scent. The bottle is a cylindrical octagon without...
Yupper!!! Don't knock it cuz ya can't rock it!
Ulysees by Vicky Thiel hands down! I cant even explain how bad it smells. I actually keep a bottle becuase it is so bad.
Brut by Faberge
Not very original, but that was what was popular so that was what I bought. I just wanted girls to like my smell and didnt care about the...
Hmmm... interesting. I've never smelled a lavatory that smelled like Kourus.
Fresh baked homemade pecan pie. I dont really like to eat it often, but I love the way it smells fresh out of the oven.
Have to go with G2. I know its been described as overly feminine, but for some reason it has a strong tobacco component on me. Strangely enough, I had my wife wear it and it smells completely...
I used to abuse the staff at a place I had to go to with 6 sprays of One Man Show.
I've taken to spraying then putting on an unscented lotion and it seems to work better. I read of this in an interview here with a famous perfumer, but I cant remember the artical.
I've always attributed this to anosmia. I figure that: a) if I keep smelling it off and on than it must still be there - it's on my skin and b) I believe that certain notes are more prone to...
Uhh... not on topic exactly, but I own and enjoy vintage Samsara EDP (my wife thought it smelled masculine - I thought more fem) and Champs Elysees EDP (my wife thought fem - I thought masculine). ...
I had an opportunity to purchase this some time ago and passed it up - a decision I regret to this day. It is still on my to-buy list and if I ever run across a good deal I will jump at it.
Count me as another fan. I got a set of the lotion and 6.7oz EDT quite ago at the Maxx for $10 on a fluke (the box was severely smashed ). I was quite surprised by it and wore it in regular...
Just a thought, but as a former photography technician, it appears as though the background packaging is making the caps to appear red.
I'd message the seller and ask as to the color of the...
Excellent information to have on record. Thanks for the post.
Oh yeah... I now own Nobile!
Wuka wuka...... yeah! Even Brut....unhuh!
Nice artical. Thanks for the up.
I'm on a kick with vintage Miss Dior EDT (the one in the houndstooth bottle). I even got a second bottle yesterday. I dont know the notes off-hand, but the total composition is fantastic.
Love the bottle too! Hope the scent lives up to the look, but uh.... Raven and Wrangler? :rolleyesold: Who knows?
Of course Patou! I'd love to try/have it without paying a week's salary.
Everlast Original is awesome - an extremely good value. Also, +1 on Grey Flannel.
Another great value is ONE MAN SHOW (I think that capitalized itself). Potent and good smelling.
Have to give this a +1. I own it although I dont wear it often. It is a little to casual for everyday wear IMO (I tend to lean toward the more somber side for everyday wear). I do love the creamy,...
LOL - My barber actually does use Pinaud Clubman talcum powder on your neck after. Very old-fashioned style.
I like Fred Hayman - Touch as an excellent example of of American-style barbershop...
Just curious... how do you know it's a fake? What is the sale situation you found this item in? I have often found authentic scents at ridiculously low prices due to the sellers not knowing or...
This is my feeling. Although I like it well enough, I rarely reach for it. The overall feeling of it reminds me of those scented pinecones that Wallyworld piles up by the door at Christmas time. ...
Ocean Rain! Wearing it right now.
I'm In! d4N13L: wear Bogart - Arabian Nights (becuase i wish I had a bottle!)
uhhh... does anyone ever fantasize about not wearing fragrance becuase of all the panty dropping and projection of job success is overwhelming. It is so difficult to pull off being a good smelling,...
