My guess would be violet.
My girlfriend once told me that New York Amber by Bond No. 9 smells like a wealthy Indian man. She liked it.
One of the best designers. I'm surprised it doesn't get more hype.
Eau Sauvage / Eau Sauvage Parfum are the coolest bottles, IMO.
+1 for Bogart Witness. Best cinnamon frag I've found. Smells very natural, dark, and rich.
Sartoriale by Penhaligon's.
Another vote for Penhaligon's Sartorial. And I will add Eucris by Geo F. Trumper. Both of these are superb, masculine, barbershop fragrances. Evoking the old school yet smelling totally modern,...
Best of the L'Homme lineup, IMO. I never understood the bashing on this one. I'd even go so far as to say it was the best designer release of its year.
Guerlain Homme L'Eau Boisee 80 ml.
Bond No. 9 Brooklyn 100 ml.
Jo Malone Blue Agava & Cacao 100 ml.
Amouage Silver Man 100 ml.
Lyric Man by Amouage is a fresh, long-lasting masculine rose.
The scent of the air after a thunderstorm is the best scent on earth, imo. The closest I have found to it in a bottle is Bois d'Armenie by Guerlain.
Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Homme, created by Jacques Polge (Chanel's in house perfumer) is very good. A nice fig scent. If you like other fig-centered frags (Philosykos, Marc Jacobs for Men), you might...
Save up your money and get Allure Homme Edition Blanche by Chanel. It is excellent stuff, very fresh and very good sillage.
+1 for Eloge du Traitre.
Carthusia "1681" 100 ml.
Penhaligon's Endymion 50 ml.
I would wear an extremely potent, old-school powerhouse like Lapidus PH, just to annoy everybody.
Pinaud Clubman is good stuff. Dated maybe, but not outdated.
I could go for a Pure Oud or a Pure Musk.
After years of resisting, I finally broke down and bought a 120 ml. bottle of Green Irish Tweed at a very good price. I was never much a fan of this fragrance (I always thought it smelled too much...
Palais Jamais is awesome. With its smoky tea, it's what I would imagine the temples of Tibet would smell like. One of the few fragrances I've loved enough to buy a backup bottle. I highly recommend...
Ferrari Oud Essence.
Amouage Lyric Man
Amouage Silver Man
Check out Givenchy Pi Neo. They've got a gift set with a 100 ml EDT and a 100 ml aftershave in it, and it can be had for pretty cheap. A really nice, sweet vanilla fragrance.
Fantastic stuff. Best designer release of 2012, imo.
OP's post was in 2007. Couldn't have been 1 Million or CK One Shock.
If you think the Heritage edt is skanky, just wait till you try the edp. There are very few frags that are too skanky for me, but Heritage edp is one of them. Love the edt however.
Victor & Rolf Spicebomb 90 ml
Guerlain Habit Rouge Sport 100 ml
Gucci Guilty pour Homme Intense 100 ml
Paco Rabanne Black XS L'Exces for Him 100 ml
Bond No. 9 Astor Place 100 ml
Polo Crest, when I was around 15/16 in the early '90's. I really loved that stuff. Unfortunately now discontinued, but I've found a worthy substitute in Chevignon Brand.
Gorgeous fragrance but too feminine for me.
I seem to remember it being more piney. Now it's more of an ashtray scent (which I still like, and the original still had), not as fresh and bracing as I remember it. I agree that the Modern Reserve...
+1 for Piper Nigrum.
As far as designers, Marc Jacobs Bang is probably your best bet. Although, Burberry The Beat features black pepper prominantly too.
Amouage Dia Man
L'Air du Desert Marocain
Parfumerie Generale Bois Blond
This. Best bubblegum scent around and inexpensive to boot.
Boss Bottled is great. It was my signature scent before joining Basenotes and continues to be one of my all-time favorite designers.
Ran into some deals that were too good to pass up.
Cartier Declaration d'Un Soir 100 ml.
Diptyque Tam Dao 100 ml.
Diptique Eau Duelle 100 ml.
Diptyque L'Ombre Dans L'Eau 100 ml.
My guess would be Voyage d'Hermes.

My guess would be Voyage d'Hermes.
Nice! I ran into a few generous SAs in Vegas last time I went as well. Great town for fragrance shopping.
I prefer its flanker, Pi Neo.
If you are a fan of Kouros, then I highly recommend Derrick by Orlane. It has a similar sort of "locker room" vibe as Kouros. And it is very inexpensive, to boot.
On the niche end, M/Mink by...
Kenzo Jungle Pour Homme fits that description.
Glorious stuff! It is on my wish list. Probably the closest designer scent that I can think of at the moment would be Eau de Rochas Homme, or maybe Chanel Pour Monsieur (not the Concentree). But...
+1 for the new Hanae Mori HiM. Best designer release of 2012, imo. Can be found at Nordstrom.
What do you have available for swap?
My 100 ml bottle does not have a ball that spins.
H.O.T. Always by Bond No. 9 is what you're looking for.
Picked up a bottle of Extreme last weekend. Very nice, smells similar to Zino.
Thanks for the head's up. I went to my local Dillard's and picked up a bottle of Extreme, which I've been wanting for some time now. 50% off of retail seems about right for this line.
Hanae Mori HiM. I like it so much, I bought both the EDT and EDP.
Eau Sauvage EDP
Tom Ford Noir
25:43 by Gorilla Perfume
Jack Black Signature Black Mark is a very nice cedar scent.
Encounter by Calvin Klein.
Not much love for this one at 3 positive, 9 neutral, and 7 negative reviews. But I think it's pretty great, easily one of the best designer releases of 2012, IMO.
I have one of the special editions, not sure which one (grayish/brown skin). I like it much more than the original Burberry London.
Chergui and Chene.
It is available at Parfum1.com.
Aoud Cuir d'Arabie
Don't worry, they restock pretty regularly. I bought their last bottle of Aoud Cuir d'Arabie some time ago and it was restocked within a week or two.
I've only tried the silver cap version, and it does remind me quite a bit of Michael Kors. In fact this was my initial reaction the first time I smelled it, "This reminds me of something... hmm,...
Le Male is the better scent, imo.
I agree with the others, between these two Boss #6 is the superior scent. However the regular Baldessarini (not the Ambre) is well worth checking out if you like Boss #6. Inexpensive, too.
They are VERY similar in my opinion. Bogart PH basically smells the same as Burberry London, minus the cedar chips note. I prefer Bogart PH for this very reason, and it is longer lasting to boot.
If you want sweet and unisex, go for Chergui. If you want something more dry, slightly piney and traditionally masculine, go for Fille en Aiguilles. Both are great and worth owning. I think both of...
This is as good as it gets when it comes to chocolate fragrances, IMHO.
For dark and dry, I would go with Aoud Cuir d'Arabie, Black Musk, and Dark Aoud.
If you like a little sweetness, check out Red Aoud, Wild Aoud, and Louban.
For something somewhere between sweet...
For me it was Marc Jacobs for Men. I'd already owned other fragrances, but Marc Jacobs for Men was so different from the rest that I had to google it. That's how I found Basenotes and the rest is...
Haven't tried much niche, but designer my favorite is the new Hanae Mori HiM.
Tom Ford Extreme, for sure.
L'Artisan Tea for Two.
Bond No. 9 Harrods for Him 100 ml.
D'Orsay Le Dandy EDT 200 ml.
Halston Catalyst (blind buy)
Midnight in Paris EDT
Montale Wild Aoud
Why not get him an Azzaro PH flanker, such as Azzaro Pour Homme Intense or perhaps Azzaro Pour Homme L'Eau. I haven't tried them but they seem to be well received.
Very much in the vein of Noir de Noir and Tom Ford Extreme. One of the best releases of the year imo, and FBW for me.
Calvin Klein's best release, imo.
Thank you again everyone for your comments. Having spent the last few weeks experimenting with them, I think I am ready to post my assessments.
Kanon Agarwood - not as strong as I was expecting....
I actually like Calvin Klein Encounter, and I really like Tom Ford Noir (one of the best releases of the year for me). However I agree that A*Men Pure Leather and D&G The One Sport are nothing...
Is it possible you bought the L'Eau flanker? It doesn't have the metal plate.
Tom Ford Noir
Hanae Mori HiM EDT
Acqua di Gio
Calvin Klein Encounter
Jo Malone 154
Thallium Black is very good for the low price. I recommend it. Black Soul is nice too, it reminds me quite a bit of Paco Rabanne One Million. Haven't tried the others.
...according to Salon.com:
Chocolate Greedy is pretty fantastic.
Musk to Musk is very nice and subtle, but I think it has a tiny bit of oud in there somewhere. Still worth sampling, though.
I would go for Aventus. It's more versatile, and you could wear it every day. As much as I enjoy Black Aoud, I wouldn't want to wear it every day.
Haven't tried GFT, but Eucris is a masterpiece, imo.
Bvlgari Eau Parfumée au Thé Blanc is about as close to smelling like "nothing" as it gets, in my experience.
The only Montale I've ever bought blindly was Aoud Cuir d'Arabie, which I enjoy immensely. The others I tested first. If you enjoy blind-buying, then I would say that - generally speaking - Montales...
My vote would go to Lapidus PH. Although Bogart (1975) would be a distant second.
Thank you everyone for your responses. These fragrances seem to be favorably received. I should have them by Tuesday (Sept. 25th). I will post my initial impressions when they arrive.

I Love NY for Marriage Equality
I Love NY for Father's Day
Hanae Mori HiM EDP
Montale Black Musk
Montale Red Aoud
And some blind buys:
Sure wish these 24 / ScentStory fragrances were easier to come by. They seem next to impossible to find. Where is everyone getting them?
Just picked up six bottles blind online. Will be receiving them in a week or so. What is your opinion of them, and what can I expect?
Woods of Windsor
This. It smells more like Armani Code than any other fragrance I've smelled. It might be a little TOO similar though.
It smells VERY similar to L'Occitane's Vetyver, imo.
MI seems to be the riskiest Creed when buying from online discounters. After buying two bottles like the one you described, I finally gave up and bought a bottle from an authorized dealer at full...
Best oud in my opinion is Oud 27 by Le Labo.
I will definitely be seeking this one out.
My Nordstrom carries the full line.
Absolutely, guys can get away with wearing this. There are very few women's frags that I feel comfortable wearing, but this is easily one of them. If you are comfortable wearing, say, Habit Rouge,...
Maybe check out Carven Vetiver? I haven't tried it, but it seems to get a fair amount of respect around here. I have been considering a blind buy of it. A 100 ml bottle will run you about $30US.
Keep them separate. I am more interested in wearing "male" and unisex fragrances than I am in "female" fragrances. If I want to browse female fragrances, I already know where to go.
Wow, how about that. Three years ago, I'd said that the "worst fragrances ever" were Silver Mountain Water and Givenchy Pi. And now I own Silver Mountain Water and think it's great! LOL.
I voted "other". IMO, the best Bond for summer is Wall Street. Longevity on this one is great.
