I like Vettiveru a lot too. Highly recommended for spring and summer!
Looking for something light and cheery - Comme des Garçons Citrico fits the bill!
Need to clean up after all the festivities yesterday, so I will wear something clean, perhaps Prada Milano Infusion d´Homme.
Yes, agree, Saville Row is awesome!
Smelling churchy today! :-) Rock Crystal Eau de Parfum by Olivier Durbano
Heritage by Guerlain!
I just got one of these too, but found I didn't get such a great shave with it. Might try it with Feather blades before making a final conclusion though.
By the way, saving money, as the original...
I like the WHOLE thing! Great fragrance!!
I agree. I thin PM Concentree is the most balanced. PM (original) is just soooo short lived. Egoist is great but for only certain occasions. Antaeus becomes musty on me; The Allures all smell the...
A friend of mine has both and I smelled them on her, and would have to say I like the Malle better. However, I think that she prefers the Lutens more! :-)
Now that I realized I posted in the wrong date (Le Labo was yesterday in fact) - today I am wearing Spectral Violet by Neil Morris.
Le Labo Patchouli.
Florals for Men - Rose, by Neil Morris
A real powerhouse in Mazzolari Lui!
I agree with this too!
The shaving soap/cream that works the best for me is Proraso's Eucalyptus (I get a super-close shave, plus can lather up quickly!), but it's not my favorite scent-wise. I really like the scents from...
Since the restaurant is closed for a week, I can break out the heavy duty stuff: Furyo by Bogart...
This year I appreciated getting some samples of the "Florals for Men" collection from Neil Morris. These were excellent and I intend to purchase one of them in the next year!
That's my choice today too!
Clean - Shower Fresh. It's a nice fragrance that can be found at most Sephoras. Yeah, it's synth, but still I like it!
Merkur 34c for me too. I love it. I always shave with a brush and proper soap. I also use a Wilkinson Hydro 5 for when I don't have a lot of time, but I still use brush and soap every time!...
Vetyver by Nicolai!
Cuir de Lancome - thanks to the discussions here on Basenotes, I have found another wonderful leather fragrance to wear!
Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier
Taking a well deserved rest and enjoying Amouage Dia!
I think it is an excellent fragrance, but I think it is a fragrance that belongs to a lovely woman and not to a man. I know some will argue that a fragrance can be worn be both sexes but this one...
I have tried several from this house, but I don't really like them. It's funny to say, but I always get some dusty feeling from them. Almost like I can taste chalk! :-)
I also agree with this one. It has some power, but very unique and interesting in these days of JPG Le Male overload.
And perhaps check out the Bogart fragrances!
This sounds nice, but 43 euros to ship to the US is obscene!
Too much work and no time to play (or sniff!) but today I found my sample of Guerlain Double Vanille. IMHO the best vanilla that a man can wear!
Musc Ravegeur by Malle was my fragrance during the day, but this evening, the more subdued MPG Santal Noble in light doses!
Noir Epices by Malle might be a good try!
SOTD Cote d’Amour by L'Artisan Parfumeur:
SOTD: Parfum d'Empire Cuir Ottoman
I'm wearing a very light spritzing of my newly purchased Il Profumo G11. What an awesome scent! Clean, woody, vetivery, and not too overpowering, though I did spray it lightly! This could become my...
I recently bought some cheap bottles of Lapidus PH and Ferrari Uomo. What the heck, they were less than 10 bucks each!
I am a restaurant owner and a chef. I have several people on my wait staff that use fragrances given that they know I have a penchant for it! However, I would caution never to wear something that can...
I think it is pretty good! My advice though, is to get the perfume oil instead of the EdT spray! I think it is fairly close to what I had smelled of MKK (small sample though).
SOTD: Lubin Idole
Since he said he doesn't have the chance to sample right now, my suggestion would be going along with the majority on this one - Chergui and Sultan are both big favorites and there is a reason for...
Parfum de Nicolai. ... New York
I found the PG Querelle to be a very refreshing Vetiver, which I would suggest giving a try as well!
One leather I never did get to try that I really wanted to:
Cuir de Lancome
Not a big spend, but I'm still looking forward to it!
SOTD is M7 by YSL - the original!! :-)
SOTD: Terre d'Hermes
A few days ago I bought Il Profumo's G11. I was pleasantly surprised by this and couldn't help myself!
I've tried Furyo (good, but the basenotes are not my style), Pour Homme (smells like some other currently trendy fragrances - but well made!) and One Man Show, which I liked but wasn't "Wow". Though...
Fougères Marines by Montale
The awesome Leather called Parfum d'Empire Cuir Ottoman. It is now my favorite leather!!
Bois du Portugal by Creed does the trick for me. Summer/fall/winter/spring it is always good, has nice projection, lasts a good long time!
Does Ava Luxe count? Quite a good selection of perfumes there!
After reading all the discussions about Montale on the boards lately, I decided to get out my samples once again and try Attar today!
Equipage by Hermes. A classic that feels very modern!
Doing a quick search through the archives I found some other interesting fragrances. There was Winter Star by Storer. It seemed to be a hit. Anything new on that one?
Royals Heroes 1805
by Washington Tremlett
The ever wonderful Amouage Jubilation XXV Man!!...
SOTD = ETRO Ambra
Other than the ones listed above, I think Cedre is easy to wear - it's just woody! Cuir Mauresque is awesome, but I couldn't find a whole bottle here, but maybe in Europe it is easier? Muscs Koublai...
It didn't last more than an hour, so I switched to something more lasting but similar:
Gian Marco Venturi Uomo - Classic!
Chanel Pour Monsieur the original (not concentree)
I'm off to prepare the restaurant, so early rising today! I was looking for something warming and energizing at the same time so I picked Ambra by ETRO....
I'm wearing Tam Dao today (Diptyque) but the dang sprayer isn't working. I hate it when this happens! No obvious reason either! Faulty manufacturing!!!!
The best Creed (IMHO): Bois du Portugal
Paco Rabanne XS - a much more powerful version (knock-off, which ever you prefer!) of Creed's Himalaya.
Most of the Boss fragrances.
Wearing the uber-masculine Mazzolari Lui! Love this stuff!
MPG Baime - I thought I might like it since it has a food (basil) reference, but turns out my nose doesn't like it too much after 10 minutes or so. Will try another MPG later!
Give a try to some of the Amber based fragrances of Ava Luxe! Good stuff! I also liked L'Ambre Fetiche and L'Aritisan's L'eau d'Ambre Extreme (note - it is the extreme!)
I liked Tobacco Vanille and the Amber, but the Amber wasn't anything too much different from some others (though still very good), yet my vote goes to Vanille!
Decided on Montale's Boise Vanille today. I thought I would like it more than I do. Somewhat disappointed with the vanilla note as well as the whole composition.
I'm looking forward to trying it! Sounds like something I could wear during the evening yet be very different from other scents! Thanks for the heads-up!
Lots of great suggestions from everyone today. I wish I had Derby! I always wanted to try it! But instead I think I will go with another suggestion from above: YSL Rive Gauche!
I have a small sample of it, and I always felt it smelled smokey/ashy to me instead of strong leather. There is leather, but seems to remind me of a person smoking in a library full of leather books!...
I went to Strawberry.net and bought a bottle of Carlos Santana's Cologne for Men. Nice stuff! Easy to wear and not intrusive. And I can wear it in the kitchen and nobody complains!
I agree that Miel de Bois is a great honey fragrance, probably more so than Chergui. It is not too feminine either, just a relaxing fragrance!
Get a sample of Le Labo, Vanille 44 and see if you like that! I think it is even better than SDV!
Pulling from my samples bag again, and I came up with Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier Bahiana, though really wasn't my style, still interesting.
I can't wear aggressive scents at the restaurant where I work, so I often choose something understated and close to the skin. Tonight I wore Ineke Derring-Do (thanks for the sample to Ineke herself!)...
I went through Guerlain's L'instant fairly quickly (~6 months), but I was just in the mood to wear it at the time. I can't imagine doing that again!
Of the one's you listed, I would really only buy Live Jazz.
A different :-) Vetiver for me: Vetiver Extraordinaire by Malle from a kindly given sample from their store in Paris! They are great folks there! (Did you notice my extraordinary style of combining...
I went over to a friend's house this afternoon and he has a nice collection of scents and so I gave a try to several, but he gave me a decant of Antaeus, since it was the one that I sprayed the most...
Same for me!
Acqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta. I will enjoy it completely this bright crisp autumn day! Everyone enjoy the day as well!!
Practice safe perfume buying... don't buy on Ebay! I know it is hard to pay out the bucks for the real deal (they do overcharge) but really, buy from a reputable dealer, or else you always risk to...
I enjoyed the classic Italian-scent-like Versace L'Homme Eau De Toilette. Still awesome after many years - the fragrance as well as my bottle!
I got a haircut today and a nice shave (yes, there are still places that do the both!) and so I splashed on some Geo Trumper's Spanish Leather. Really excellent!!!
Dior Eau Sauvage Fraîcheur Cuir! Awesome stuff! I wasn't sure at first because it didn't seem all that different from the original Dior Sauvage, but the leather perked up and I could smell it gently...
Sampling Costes today!
I think it is the problem with availability too. If everyone could have the next Amouage or Tom Ford, they too will be ordinary and generic. There is nothing wrong with wearing something you like, or...
The most interesting F. Malle - Portrait of a Lady. Did the call it that to just scare off men? It's a great Oud based fragrance, easily worn by men and women alike!
Probably Lui by Mazzolari. I still get a shiver when I smell it on my skin, though more of a winter fragrance, thus I await winter!
Rainy day today, looking to something warming: leather, perhaps Spanish Leather by Trumper!
What I can't figure out is why all the laughing??? Ha ha ??? :-)
Cool you guys/gals like Montales! I have a bunch of samples and wouldn't know where to start if I wanted to buy something!
Bois Fonce is great! Followed by Incense Noir would be my suggestions!
Of the mainsteams, I like Al Oudh too, but you need to give a try to Ava Luxe! There are several to choose from and almost all of them are great!
I thought I would be the only one! This has been a long-time favorite of mine! I don't wear it often, but when I do, I always wonder why I don't! Cool to know there is another who likes it as much as...
Yesterday was Serge Lutens Un Bois Vanille, and today I tried out Ambre Sultan - very suitable for this autumn-like day!
I like my vetivers on the lighter side! :) I enjoy M; Men by Matsushima which stacks up quite well with Vettiveru by Comme des Garçons
