Juby for me. i don't get MR. i only detect the pissy odour
i find boss bottled too over powering for an everyday scent. i feel it lacks subtlety, although i do like the smell. bleu de chanel is a popular and good choice, as is gucci pour homme ii.
D&G The One
Bleu de Chanel
There's a podcast i usually listen to called 'stuff you should know'. The most recent episode is about perfume.
very interesting listen, although some of you may know it all.
whats good about...
totally agree. surprised more people haven't mentioned Robes08
HAHAHAHAHA . Brilliant
thanks for the advice. i do have a VIW so i think i will go with that.
I would get eaten alive. :lolk:
Anyone one here live in the Caribbean?
I am going to Jamaica soon and have been told not to wear perfume because the scent will attract mosquitoes - however i'm addicted to smelling good.
imo - nothing beats the one. i'd even take it over aventus
Has any one tried the new Boss Bottled Unlimited?
Although the notes are different - to me - it smells exactly like YSL L'Homme. Has anyone else found this?
I was looking at the list of Creed fragrances and noticed quite a few have perfumes which smell very similar, but cheaper.
GIT - Cool Waters
Aventus - Insurrection Pure II
...So...erm...I went to a local store today and spoke to a sales assistant about Musc Ravaguer. I told him, i didn't like it because i couldn't smell the sweetness and all i got was clove. This is...
Has there been a reformulation? I remember it was suggested a few months ago, but the rumour was a hoax.
Any evidence of a a new The One?
I love sculpture and its one of the fragrances i buy repeatedly
Many thanks for advice. It has given me more confidence.
Im looking for Issey Miyake Pour Homme Gold Absolute, and i have seen it on a couple of websites. The fragrance was limited edition and discontinued so i'm not sure if i should make a purchase as i...
i wouldn't say any of my scents are essential, but i have continually bought Sculpture by Nikos, for about 10 years. Even if i don't use it that often anymore, i'll always have a bottle.
Has anyone seen/tried this?
I've been to a number of stores and the staff don't even know about it
Has anyone tried this oil? Does it smell like the perfume and does it have even better longevity?
yes, that would make sense, but none of us here stick to just one fragrance, right?
i have recently finished a bottle of Frapin L'Humaniste and I need a new bottle of something. I want a day kind of scent and was toying with the idea of getting Penhaligon's Endymion or Creed M.I.
i never thought of MI as an aquatic, but it very much is.
Thus I agree with Jack (I find issy and adg a bit nauseating).
I'm not even a big creed supporter but i have to say MI would be my...
my current top 3
gucci pour homme ii
D&G the one (i dont care about longevity i spray on clothes too)
it was about a week for me when i tried maybe even less. i emailed a rep, the same day she replied asking for my address, within a few days i got my samples.
i was quite impressed with their...
...i know many don't agree with layering, but i had to share this one.
Pure Havane + Aqua di gio.
In my opinion it worked very well. The fruity/aquatic balance was amazing. I had a travel size...
I can't believe no one has mentioned it.
Tom Ford Black Orchid will never get purchased again either. I found it nauseating.
If you like it, yes.
Your argument about not wearing it because you have other bottles, is only relevant if you decide to stop purchasing fragrances until all current options cease. If you still...
i dont think L'instant is anything like 1270.
i dont think you will find a similar fragrance with same longevity because it is fruity. I dont know many fruity scents that go beyond 6hrs. as...
Not a surprising result. 1 million is very nice if used correctly. Plenty people mention it as a favourite - hence it's popularity. It gets bad press from basenoters because so many people wear it....
I got myself a compliment at work today. Been the first in a while. Gucci Pour Homme 2 the cause.
Actually,i tell a lie. whenever i go out wearing Frapin 1270, I always get a compliment. But for...
Few scents have as good longevity. I get 10 hours easily
Does that technique really work, or is it your skin?
I tend to spray on clothes. Longevity is great on material.
I prefer pure malt, but for a signature scent i would pick new harleem. I say this because i feel pure malt stands out more whereas NH is more casual. PM hands down for nights out and special...
From my experience (I have sampled most of them), the fragrances smell very nice, but longevity is poor
i really like the simplicity of frederic malle bottles. I don't like a lot of the fragrances but the bottle tempts me to buy.
i received a sample of this and was so disappointed -especially after reading the notes and reading many reviews. smells a bit too medicinal for my liking
it seems samples are far easier to attain in the US than in the UK.
Thanks for your insight Donna. I'll go easy on SAs next time.
Just out of curiosity, as a basenoter, do you find shopping for perfume frustrating. I don't know what it's like in other countries but i feel so aggrieved in the UK. Here are my main peeves.
Bois D'argent is my faourite. Ambre Nuit is very nice to.
i know a few people who like leather oud, but i think it is vile. i found this reaction funny
i say its not legit, because anyone who has L'Humaniste would never give it away.
I think the seller is not doing anyone any favours by posting a pic that looks stolen from an ad campaign...
i have tried a lot of spice fragrances and this is my favourite, although i can see how people might think it is too sweet/powdery.
I went to a bar recently and someone was wearing spicebomb. i...
forget musc rav - it's foul!!!!
i think you should try Hermes Ambre Narguile. Not exactly vanilla, but warm, cinnamon with vanillic notes. It's also very long lasting. Personally i think it's the...
Good point! Although Ambre Narguille is my favourite fragrance of those listed, it doesn't actually smell that much like amber. From what i've smelt 114 is my prefered choice.
I totally disagree. So what if others have Pure Malt. Life's to short to not want others to enjoy whats good. There are enough niche fragrances out there which provide a degree of exclusivity, if...
i picked up a sample of this last week from Frapin. it's nice, but it didnt blow me away like other frapin fragrances. i guess i need to give it more time.
the problem i have is accessibility. i haven't figured out how to get floss and fingers towards the back of my mouth successfully. lol
regular floss doesn't clean as well as flossette.
i try to floss after every meal, and brush three times a day. i used to brush after every meal but i was told too much is bad for the enamel. i have just been looking into oil pulling. Apparently...
When Joop first came out the company released a body cream, and that's what i got when i tried joop wild. it's like a cousin. Different from the original but from the same family
My top 5 always changes. My 5 are based on scent alone and not longevity or projection
1- Frapin 1270
2- D&G The One
3- Creed Virgin Island Water
4- Frapin L'Humaniste
5- Victor & Rolf Spice...
The amount i spray is based on the atomiser. Sometimes i press and very little comes out so i have to spray more.
For the heavy hitters (tobacco vanille) 2 sprays. For the lighter fragrances i...
It's easily attainable in London.
Frapin 1270 and L'humaniste are no longer available in the UK
I'm not the biggest fan of either but of the two i would choose A*men.
Personally, I think Pure Havane and Pure Malt are better evening scents from Thierry Mugler. Other alternatives (that not...
that's a bit harsh
...and you would suggest????
I know, but my point was i hadn't got used to the smell for me not to be able to detect it. the first time i tried i sprayed on my neck. the second day i sprayed on chest and arms.
That's a good shout. I never thought about that, but you are right.
I recently bought Allure Homme Sport Eau Extreme and i don't know what to think of it. I read a number of reviews and a lot of people said it had good projection and longevity, however i can't smell...
Have you asked other people? ask a family member who isnt afraid to say if the cologne is too strong (although i doubt 2/3 sprays is)
i hear you guys. i just hope she doesn't decide to buy me a bottle when the sample runs out. lol
although i must say, fresh fragrances seem to work out better in clubs. they stand out more.
i samples dunhill custom (spiced apple) with hugo boss orange. Works a treat.
dunhill custom is sooo underated.
I've recently met a girl who told me she loves a man wearing Acqua di Gio. I can tolerate it, but i'm not to keen on it. We plan to hook up on the weekend and I have a travel size bottle, should I...
it's impossible for me to go out and not receive a compliment wearing Frapin 1270.
has to be. based on price, uniqueness of scents and their longevity.
i stopped messing with joop because it was way to popular and i had my fun with it in the 90s, but it is great smelling juice. it's the 90s 1 million. i cant see myself purchasing it again, but i...
My favourite house is Frapin and 1270 is my preferred scent. love the fruity boozy feel and always gets compliments
i like topkapi a lot. i think its better than Chypre Palatin and invasion, however topkapi reminds me of lynx (axe) from the 1980/90s i think it was oriental.
brit doesn't last on me, so i go with black
I'm surprised the vast majority chose spicebomb. i like the scent very much and it probably does smell nicer than la nuit, but i dont think it has the longevity and projection. it seems a few...
thats strong sentiment. i cant decide because although spicebomb is fruitier, it seems more linear and doesnt have the same projection.
Simple question to my spice lovers out there, which of the two do you prefer? YSL la nuit de l'homme or Viktor & Rolf's Spicebomb.
I am currently wearing both (well kind of - i sprayed one on...
5 o'clock au gingembre and chergui are my favourites from the line. There are also a number of fragrances I like the smell of but just wouldn't wear such as daim blond and jeux de peau.
Whats the longevity like for Concentre d'Orange Verte and Bigarade Concentre?
Signature: Frapin L'Humaniste
Work: Boss Bottle
Night Out: Armarni Code
Romance: Frapin 1270
High Class: Tobacco Vanille
Ambre narguile - great longevity and great smell. maybe not ideal for spring and summer. Opening of spicy cinnamon is amazing and I find the dry down similar to musc Ravageur...(and you know how...
Chergui is nice, but not everyone understands it. It's honey but not the same honey as By Kilian Back to Black (it's more masculine). I like it, but it is an acquired fragrance.
Night - D&G The One
Midnight in Paris
I'm not a huge fan of DHI, but if you like it buy it rather than TV. 1- because it's cheaper (yet still good product) and 2- it's more versatile
in no particular order;
D&G The One (walk with atomiser)
Here are a few light fragrances I have worn, which i wouldn't class as citrus or aquatic:
Creed Virgin Island Water
dunhill man custom - (spicy apple)
JPG le Male...
Pure Hav is my favourite of the 3. Original Santal is least.
i find the iris in dhi nauseating.
Why does it have to be creed or tom ford? There is a world of perfumes to go for. Christian Dior has a collection worth looking into. Leather Oud and Ambre Nuit seem very popular as is bois d'argent....
From what i gather (i could be wrong), you seem to be saying people just choose 1270 because it is a niche and if PM was niche too, then more would prefer it. Well, I'm certainly one who doesn't give...
i have both and prefer 1270 by far. I have also had more compliments wearing 1270 than PM.
The only thing i would give PM is it has stronger longevity.
I just rang Les Senteurs in London, and to my surprise, they have stopped stocking the house of Frapin. The attendant couldn't tell me why, but the news -if true - is so disappointing. Frapin is the...
I think this smells so good, you should just buy it, use it and abuse it. How many sprays? about 10
I wear this clubbing, and walk around with an atomiser, and spray when i feel. If you...
This is everything you would want in a gourmand. Sweet, spicy, great longevity and great projection. It is very pricey but travel size bottles are affordable and worth purchasing.
not sure these are comparable, but i chose l'humaniste as it's one of my favourite fragrances.
I'm a frapin groupie!!!
Hermès Ambre Narguilè wins all day everyday. Just like MR it has excellent projection and longevity, and the dry downs aren't too dissimilar. However, I feel Ambre Narguile has a much more appealing...
Everything said here
this is really strong juice. my favourite of the collection.
not for everyday use though, but it will last the whole day
so what if its a flanker, it's still juice in a bottle.
the only thing that matters, is if it smells good. why be so prejudicial?
