Bleecker Street, Bond no 9
New York (Parfum de Nicolai)
Tuscan Leather, although i enjoy both
Vetiver Tonka for me also
I was thinking about making a purchase this week, and i just have a few questions concerning this scent;
How similar, if at all, is this to Chanel's Sycomore, which i own and love?
What scent do you like to use with the matching body lotion?
i got a sample of it also, gotta admit, its pretty good stuff. exactly how i imagined it would have smelt
Excellent advice, my experience exactly with this scent. Disliked it, now one of my all time favs
I didnt average that firstly, secondly, its a bit of fun.
deffo an excellent scent.
Looking good so far guys, gonna total up tomorrow night
I want to get everyones marks out of 10 for this scent, it would be interesting to work out an average, if this is successful i may do this with more scents. post your numbers!
IMO most niche houses are justified in their pricing, especially Frederic Malle
At the moment, i think Editions De Parfums probably offer the best scents to build a collection. If i had all of them, i'd probably be set. Any occasion, any season.
Im still searching for my elusive, all season, all purpose scent. No luck so far. I was looking at Creed's Aventus, but you know when you wake up one morning and for some reason you dont want it...
IMO, Homme and Homme Intense are masterpieces. Classic examples of modern, unique and bold creations in mainstream perfumery.
The only thing 'feminine' about Sycomore is the little pink female symbol basenotes puts next to it in the directory.
I prefer Sycomore.
Definitely NOT a dud in my opinion, works just fine for me, i agree silage is mild but i got a compliment from it when i could hardly smell it anymore. Very good scent, just wish the top notes would...
I absolutely agree
i disagree.... thats kind of the reason i asked the question, which house offers such a variety that you wouldnt notice such limitations
Editions de Parfums Geranium Pour Monsieur
Which house offers the best fragrances to build an entire collection from?
where you can chose any scent for any occasion, any season, only from this one house.
I like Dior.
Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense.
Amen.... i dare u! lol
thats exactly where i am right now....
Dior Homme Intense
Hermes Vetiver Tonka
Serge Lutens Chergui
Tom Ford Grey Vetiver
Hermes Vetiver Tonka
whatever happened to individual taste? I thought it was 'individual' for a reason, so i dont like everything the same as the common man. The fact that some of us can see the beauty and love the smell...
Acqua di Parma is one of the more popular scents amongst 30+ men anywhere in SW London. Where i work both customers and employees drench themselves in it daily.
i wanna go with GIT or TdH.... decisions!
Im in the same boat, looking for Creed fragrances at discount price.....nothing.
When you have a prominent, sweet vanilla note mixed with some cinnamon there are going to be similarities. I agree with the OP that both these drydowns are similar, not the same, but there is a...
Im searching for a really good all weather scent for work. I work in retail and want a good, unique smelling scent that stands out from all the Acqua di Parma that goes around, ive narrowed it down...
I dont think its overrated, i think it borders along great rather than good, which makes it somewhat deserving of it praise (but not all the time) I think the only way we can truly classify it as one...
Sycomore is my favourite vetiver frag, worth the price. Big and smoky, elegant and classy. I feel slightly out of place wearing this in anything other than a suit or semi formal attire.
Basenotes is my first point of reference when seeking fragrance information. Great place to be. Welcome!
Brick: 'I killed a guy!'
Ron: 'I saw that!'
Edition Blanche for me, admitingly ive not tried Farenheiht 32
Both very nice, both serves their purpose very well, age and all that stuff is redundant. i got kind of tired of them quite quickly however.
1. im not a believer of 'back up bottles'.
Congratulations first of all;
i too am engaged, i'll be marrying late next year, but ive already decided on what i will be wearing, Chergui. no story other than its one of the most beautifully...
Tobacco Vanille and Sycomore
In terms of composition and artistry;
1. Musc Ravageur
2. Ambre Narguille
3. New Haarlem
But my favourite;
1. New Haarlem
2. Musc Ravageur
I started with the Tom Ford private blends
A smart man once said,
'Good publicity, bad publicity, the key word is publicity'
Thats kind of how i see Mugler.
No problem!!! sorry it took so long!!
Cologne Pour Le Matin
Thanks Buddy. I have a sample of Five o'clock gingembre, and i remember the ginger or cinnamon (whichever it was) was too much for me to like, decent enough, but maybe Tonka Imperiale is the thing i...
I love it personally. Excellent night out scent.
Is that the fragrance with banana in it?
Straight to Heaven by By Kilian
agreed, very good choice
main factor was i didnt feel like spending all that money on something that just smelt good to me. if my search hits a wall i might get it.
already got it, something a tad sweeter
Try Allure Home Sport and Allure Edition Blanche
Looking for something light and sweet, i was going to spring for Tonka Imperiale but for some reason my interest has cooled on it. Want something i can use mostly all year round, something sweet, not...
My summer arsenal for this year consists of Bigarade Concentree, Edition Blanche and Sycomore.
Bigarade Concentree gives you the fresh, true to life orange peel smell the others dont, well i have not tried Voyage but BC ultimately dries down to an orangey, rosy hay like skin scent. I love it.
Scratch that, gonna get an iPad2 instead!
I fully get what you mean. For me, i think Coze 02 by Parfumerie Generale is a good Summer night winter day scent. It takes a lot of trial and error when juggling scents, trying to fit them into...
For some reason it always takes me ages to finish a 50ml, even for a liberal sprayer like myself. Unless i can help it i go for 50ml. I have Edition Blanche in 100ml only because i got it at discount...
Sorry to hear that man, try to enjoy it anyway. Paris is a beautiful place, I plan on going this summer. Do get back to us on new fragrances you'll be trying, im looking to add a couple new...
The ground floor didnt have any, is there another perfumery on the 5th floor?
good to know, thanks!
anyone tried cologne pour le matin and the absolue?
Which leather scent do you prefer?
before some start talking about their so different, how can you compare them, etc, this is for people like myself who can really only afford one, but loves...
sweet list man
I tried Harrods, nothing. Online, nothing. Harvey Nichols, nothing. where the heck can i buy this thing??
Pepper? really? i dont get a hint of pepper in Blanche....
In no Order
Musc Ravageur (Editions de Parfums)
Tobacco Vanille (Tom Ford)
Coze 02 (Parfumerie Generale)
Chergui (Serge Lutens)
Allure Homme Edition blanche (Chanel)...
This is a superb line, one of the few lines that you can get mostly all of their scents and will be suitable for every occasion and every season, ive sampled most of them, here is my one sentence...
Bigarade Concentree and Allure Homme Edition Blanche, one scent for each day of hot weather we'll get in london!
Terre d Hermes
Burberry London. yuck!
i wouldnt particularly wear this during the day regardless of temperature. but it might work for you. the only way to really get an answer is to wait for the summer and try it.
Thank you so much for this excellent review, it has re-ignighted my desire to sample this and hopefully make a purchase this week.
so i googled all the names, you know, just for kicks..... Jasmin Rouge is interesting! lol
i love its uniqueness, unlike any other fragrance on the market. this blooms in the heat, the icy cool mint is very chic. this and bigarade concentree are the best hot weather offerings from this...
I agree on this being a cool weather scent, not necessarily winter. What i have found with TV in my couple years experience with it is that it is more versatile than some people give it credit for. I...
Chanel Allure Homme
Agreed, Coze is a wonderul fragrance. One of my all time favs
is there such thing? something with a bit of sweetness, but one that can be used in all seasons?
Indeed, the most refreshing, uplifting scent ive ever experienced
Tobacco Vanille. Because IMO it smells better than the rest
any 'exclusive' lines from designer houses (chanel exclusifs, dior la collection, armani prive etc) are still designer fragrances, just 'exclusive' designer fragrances, made by designer houses. The...
It reminds me of a more dense, grown up refined version of A*men. Thats not to say the two smell similar, but i certainly pick up the patchouli, the chocolate is more cocoa to me, mixed with a little...
couldn't agree more
