£25,000 for a 500ml bespoke fragrance to call your own, now where did I misplace my chq book.
Why settle for mediocrity when the one is better than the many for the same price.
I'm sure Mr Bond would apply something when he's in his tuxedo and in a ladykiller mood.
But Ormonde Jayne just seems too modern and slightly avant garde for 007. I see him wearing something old...
I remember Insignia from the Eighties, I used to wear the deodorant. I thought it was quite good then, have only found Muglers Ice Men to be reminiscent of it.
I think they are still going but...
I'm a mild mannered reporter for the Daily Planet.
The Heavenly Spiritueuse Double Vanilla:
New Haarlem for me. When the hype was in full swing for this one some years ago I was very interested as I like Rochas Man which it had often been compared to.
I nearly purchased it blind but as...
I have to say I found this pretty awful and generic smelling. The problem I had was to my nose the ingredients seem to clash, grapefruit and citrus with coffee & rum and woody vanilla spice just do...
From a sample:
Sounds like you need a break away from sampling to just enjoy what you have.
Don't be so hard on yourself, everyone over-sprays at least once during this hobby. Give it time and you will see the funny side and your story will become a humorous anecdote.
Anything about Mugler.
Just to make you feel better, here is THE guy!...lol
Also Aqua Di Parma do a range of vacation fragrances in their fun Blu Mediterraneo range. The scents are very summery and worth checking out if you are...
I'm not aware of any store that stocks them so you can go there to try them out. Just the usual online stores selling some of the range. Best to get samples from First In Fragrance of the range or...
This is a great addition, well done!
LP No.9 by Penhaligons.
My guess is the bottle was probably stored incorrectly in a warehouse somewhere, as it was a tester bottle it did not have it's own box which was probably a big factor.
Depends on your luck, I purchased a tester bottle of Green Irish Tweed from them which quickly went off in the top notes.
Since then I just pay retail for the peace of mind that you are going to...
I think it's a gorgeous fragrance that has a amazing neroli accord within it's composition. One of Creeds best!
It appeals to the gambler within use. The anticipation/desire for something in some cases can be more satisfying than actually having it . It's all about the buzz and the possible thrill of the...
A lot of flankers can be good, you can never tell unless you try it. Though I have to admit I dislike it when they put Sport after the title.
I like APOM but love Ambre Nuit which is a beautiful showcase of the ambergris note.
Early Vintage Paco Rabanne Pour Homme
I've had evaporation problems with a couple of roll on decants that I used to have. So I steer clear of them.
This fragrance is all about showcasing the Ambergris note in with citrus, rose, amber and pink pepper. I find it hypnotic and enchanting, you don't come across many scents that do Ambergris this...
Nahhh, Cancer is a disease and a case could be made for addiction to hard drugs that change the chemicals in the brain. But constantly buying a bottle of scent would likely come under a psychiatric...
Glad you have finally managed to get your parcel but what a lot of hassle for a mistake in the labeling of your address. I hope you will be sending FIF a email letting them know where the mistake...
It's very subjective and depends on your associations, if your Grandad wears Aventus around you a lot then I guess for you it will have that old man association.
It's all in the mind...........
Well I'm very dismayed by what you have been through. It does go through to Parcelforce from DHL when it reaches this country. It must have been lost in transition somewhere but who can say when...
It's good to know you at least got a face to face apology though it does from what you wrote sound begrudging. I'm wondering if it was the threat of legal action or him finally been gracious that...
I have to say that Zafar is one of the most challenging fragrances I have smelled. Cheese and horse manure is not what I signed onto basenotes for...lol
Luckly it goes in about thirty minutes to...
Three sprays and it lasts for eight hours or so on my skin. Love this sunshine in a bottle fragrance.
You could pick yourself up a good few 5 to 10ml atomizers and decant all your fragrances into them. A great way to have a wider choice without the worry you may lose or drop and smash one of your...
It smells good though simple with it's lemony lavender scent. The price though for what you are getting is obscene, I guess I expect more from Tom Ford.
Eau de Cologne du 68
BUY ME IF YOU DARE
A few thoughts on these particular houses. All three are good though I find Amouage fragrances too opulent for daily use, best for special occasions. Though spending big money on scents that I would...
Eau Sauvage Parfum has the best sillage and longevity out of those three unless you have the old vintage formulations of the other two.
Best to get the samples of their range and try them out. 1725 is good though more in the same vain as Invasion Barbare than Rive Gauche.
Ambre 114 is also a must try from their range.
Hi and Welcome to Basenotes!
Check out this UK online store for samples if you have not done so already: http://www.scentsamples.uk.com/
The tried and tested, Xmas in a bottle, the one and only "Burberry London!"
Tuberose, Tar, Tomato leaf, Strawberry and Licorice are some of the notes I don't like to smell in a fragrance.
About three to four hours, if I had gotten as long as you I would have purchased a bottle.
I think it is good too but let down by very poor longevity on my skin.
Shalimar EdP from a sample:
I have a full bottle of Chypre Palatin and a sample of Diaghilev. The former imo is a gorgeous ten out of ten hybrid chypre oriental fragrance that has really top quality lush ingredients. I'm really...
I have both vintage and the current formulations of Heritage EdT. The vintage has better quality ingredients though it does stay close to you. The current one though does project more though it does...
Congrats on the purchase, I'm a big fan of this one too!
Instead of a must have I'm going to do a list of ten niche must sample fragrances. Otherwise you are going to wonder why I don't own them all if they are a MUST HAVE. lol
Green Irish Tweed...
The Heavenly Spiritueuse Double Vanille:
Scents Of Time : Ankh
Starting a thread which has a dozen or so threads already ie Aventus can be tiresome. But to add a proper discourse to a already dated thread can resurrect important updates to a interesting past...
If kept out of direct sunlight and stored in a cool place then this should not happen.
I have a tester bottle of Green Irish Tweed without the box which I stored correctly but that went off in...
It's one of the best features on basenotes and I like it to keep track of what I have worn.
Early Vintage Paco Rabanne Pour Homme.
Sounds like some kind of allergic reaction, you will have to monitor where you spray it in-case of a rash.
Aramis Havana is still really good that I could not tell the difference between vintage and current.
Also Balenciaga Pour Homme though discontinued is still available on the net and was never...
It last's as long as a strippers smile after she has taken your money. lol
That bottle of the good stuff must be huge, congrats on a good find. You can't beat the vintage for it's wonderful green honey mossy drydown.
Enjoy the scent, it's good one!
I have a big box that I use to bench the fragrances I do not use. For you never know when a old scent may become a favorite again.
First Formulation Of Vintage Heritage:
Top 3 most worn this month are:
Spiritueuse Double Vanille
Jaïpur Homme /Habit Rouge L’Eau..... Joint 3rd place
Many years ago my sister used to wear this strawberry perfume from the bodyshop. Well it smelled like warm plastic covered in strawberries and I used to get that gag reflex when she was wearing it....
The bottle looks legit and just like the one I have. Though it is always a risk buying through Ebay, I'm just a bit surprised that they still have Testers to sell of the vintage.
This one has shot straight to the top of my favorites, amazing fragrance!
I'm going to be controversial and say Old Spice as it has been around since 1934 and popular to be in every drug store/supermarket.
And it's still with us today, it's been reformulated but never...
Opus 1870 is my favorite as I like the combo of the peppery rose and cedar.
Jaipur Homme Edt/Edp
I hate it when the weather seems cold so you wear a heavy fragrance for it to suddenly change by midday and you are stuck in hot weather with a stifling fragrance.
My 75ml bottle is indeed a aftershave where my Edt from the Nineties is a edt.
Dia Man by Amouage
Italian Cypress for me.
Jaipur for the day with it's captivating vanilla and cinnamon scent. L Nuit for the evenings for clubbing/going out.
Glad you have found the light.........
Vintage Dior Homme Intense
I may be wrong but as far as I know the juice in the gold cap bottles are the same as this bottle. The only difference is that this one is a splash and the one you have is a spray.
